Circuit City Closing Alltogether
Circuit city has such an usual store layout. I've never quite thought it was "right." I don't really know how to explain it.

There's also a red meat counter and plenty of chicken. They actually don't let it sit all that long, I was surprised to see half a pan of mac and cheese removed and replaced. David, the Breeze Food Court there is for you. They serve fried chicken in buckets with fries in the bottom. Just the way Detroiter's like them. $6.50

I was so pissed and delighted at the same time that I brought 25 California rolls (sushi) back to the table. Great stuff. Deserts were amazing. Catfish best I've ever had. And the mashed potatoes......no need for anything else on them...perfect as they were out of the bowl.

Uh oh hayward spent big dollars at the MGM Detroit Casino at the buffet. $32. I mean damn that stuff was good, best I ever had, but it's not like my friends aren't college students too. Detroiters sure like food. The floor shook up and down. Pics coming soon.

Peak Oil
That's a depressing article. To think that investment in alternative fuels should be based off short term prices fluctuations.... I know there is even talk here in the U.S. for creating a floor for gas prices. Basically, it's been high so long, they want to make the floor around $3.00-3.50. I cannot see how the majority of U.S. citizens will be in support of that. Although I remain indifferent. I'd hope our leaders would not be so shortsighted. So I filled up today at $2.15 Shocked because I have a pickup truck and the pump stopped at $29.50

Landlord/Heat Legality Question
I like to be an honest and reasonable person, and I'm very sorry if I offend you mcadrenaline, but I kind of get irked at these types of threads because the advice almost becomes unnecessary when your first priority hasn't even been addressed. If a problem arises, call your landlord. But it wasn't until reply #12 that we find you haven't called your landlord, and there's really no reason to doubt you'll have much trouble considering you know that your name is on the lease. I'd suggest you call now, not wait until November. I'm saying this in a nice tone, believe me. I just hope this advice is useful. Don't wait.

So far, still nobody has gotten it. I'm actually a little surprised. I'll say a clue that may be helpful. It's not close to this particular city's downtown.

Nope, keep guessing, although David you've mentioned that you've been here, as have numerous other forumers here on UO

I've gone to Canada a few times in the past year and by default they ask you for passports. If you don't have one, you should definitely have your birth certificate along with a drivers license. Driver's license alone will no longer suffice, not even for Michigan residents, although it's worked for some out of state residents. Starting soon, anyone who resides in the state of Michigan can obtain a driver's license the functions just like a passport to Canada only...not sure if they are doing it for Ohio as well since the NW side of the state is so close to Windsor.

This time I followed the rules. And don't complain about this one being too hard, I know some of you have actually been here.

Detroit's New Center
The new bridge to Canada being planned is in a really bad area. Imagine coming in from the other side. Welcome to America!

Landlord/Heat Legality Question
Don't do anything until you talk to your landlord. I've read your posts, but I see nothing you wrote where you actually contacted the person who owns the house. Maybe you can state that you did in your next post so we can set things straight. If you haven't done that yet, then no one here in this thread has anything to add until the issue becomes more problematic. Landlords are not responsible for unit inconveniences until the tenant actually notifies the landlord of an issue. It can sometimes take a few days to fix the problem, unless they consider it a more serious issue. If they were held responsible, it would give them legal right to invade on your privacy and come in whenever to check out conditions If your landlord fails to address the issue after a few calls, then you can take it up with some public body that deals with these types of issues. Really it shouldn't matter whether you are on the lease or not which someone mentioned. If it's a bedroom, it would be expected that any of these rooms have sufficient heat.

Fall = The Best Season... Who agrees?
I need to dig up some ancient photos I took on a perfect fall day in Ann Arbor. The tree colors were intense. They are probably blurry as hell though.

Pontiac, Michigan
Pontiac actually has a lot going for it these days. Quite a few companies have relocated office space here, unfortunately much of it is on the edge of downtown. Still, it's something to build off of, and I think things will go up from here.

Detroit's New Center
Nice photos! Last time I was around there was a Lupe Fiasco concert held in front of the Fisher Building. BTW, the old GM headquarters is occupied by the state of Michigan. The red building behind it is currently being renovated and will be home to the College of Creative Studies, it took some time to get previous tenants out. New Center is doing pretty well these days, I just wish the rest of Detroit could be more like it. I've always enjoyed how public the Fisher Building is. You can walk all over and take photos all day if you like and they don't mind at all. During Cityfest, the place is jammed with people.

neo-ruins of post apocalyptic tokyo
Fake! Those were models made in google skechup. Some of the debris can be downloaded on google warehouse. :-D In all seriousness, very cool. I'd like to see these made for other cities.

Fall = The Best Season... Who agrees?
Fall is my favorite season probably because it's packed with the most vacation time and you have the approach of the holiday seasons which are big in my family. I like the trees changing color, football, and good food usually consumed during the fall. Surrounded by concrete, I don't usually appreciate it the best until I go home to my parents since my mom is huge into decorating for the seasons, and I'd immediately be hit by the smell of apple pie cooking walking in the door.

Rail Industry Suppliers
It's more realistic to build a new plant for heavy manufacturing of a different type of product than reuse an existing facility except if maybe you were only doing assembly. Most practical reuses of closed auto plants are light industry since they don't require a major retrofit of existing space. Speaking trains, maybe GM shouldn't have sold EMD

Close enough. Old Town is what I was looking for, but since it's just a few blocks from the market, that's good for me. MTS wins.

Typing in the businesses is okay I suppose considering I violated a rule of the game lol, but this area does have a name.

Whatever, Milwaukee can play the Chamber of Commerce "Let's Create Identity Game" all it wants, but it's still downtown to 99% of the people in this world. 3rd and 5th wards can still be considered neighborhoods, because that's sensible.
