  1. My photos of both Chicago and Cleveland always seem to turn out really well. All other cities terrible.
  2. Damn this stretch of roadway is dangerous. Either drop the speed limit or reconstruct/reconfigure the roadway. We have a bad situation here in Ann Arbor with people not successfully completing a 200 degree turn on a freeway ramp over the years. Apparently the state will eliminate the ramp entirely to solve the problem. Maybe it's time your road goes too! j/k.
  3. Oh Geno's...... Great shots!

I see where they were going, but I agree, it came off a bit corny. Okay story. So I've been up late since exams are this week. I was working on a studio planning project at my friends place until about 4:30 a.m. I get home and the back door is standing open, but the house is dark. Now, we have this gorgeous 44 inch plasma tv, ripe for theft so I proceed with caution. It's incredibly rare my housemates forget to lock the door since we even lock it when we are home. Anyway, I make my way to my room which is right of the living room. My room is kind of a mess lately, and I trip, as I get up there someone I've never seen before! I scream WTF! and we basically shove each other real panicked. He falls back, glass breaks. I finally turn my lights on. I didn't know who the hell this guy was but it turns out he's my housemate's older brother. Asside from a small cut, no one was seriously hurt lol.\ I had made the statement earlier that day i was probably going to be up all night and not home until morning. I also stated months ago my room was open for friends to stay if I was gone. My bad!

Thanks for the help everyone. I honestly have no interest in taking any serious measures. It mostly just annoys me. I have no problem with people blogging them linking them to their websites (with at least permission) or using them for nonprofit sites and publications, but here's one example that annoys me.. I've got a section of photos of all the stuff I've done in college. My friends value this section but they don't have flickr accounts so I don't make it private. What is interesting is that one of my friends has the same name of an actor, so all these actor databases are finding the images, tagging it to that actor and putting it up on their site (except its my friend, not the actor!). I don't actually tag these photos, so they must find them through word searches in the title. It's not a huge deal, but I don't know what my friends might think. I may just have to email them photos if they want full res I guess.
  6. 1. Agree, but move westward where all the clubs and bars are and there is lot of people. 2. Somewhat agree. I'm not entirely convinced. I ride the El fairly often at night at least once a month and a lot of these upper floors (even in smaller and older buildings) are lit and filled with desks and cubicles. If you are talking specifically about the loop, you are probably correct. 3. Agree for the most part. It's all about people's personal likes and dislikes here. (I love it) 4. Agree 5. I disagree with your statement #5. You cannot begin to make assesments of price of living based off parking. I know you don't mean it in that way, but park and rides at El line stations run $1 or $2 per day, if not free on weekends. Of course you pay outrageous prices for parking downtown, although somewhat average for most major American cities (that includes Detroit). It's a business to catch people who don't realize free parking awaits them on side streets just a few blocks from their hotel 6. Hmmmm disagree. I hear most people complain it's too clean. Not sure what parts you visited, but I've always been impressed with how relatively well neighborhood are kept, especially if you compare it to a lot of other major industrial cities. 7. Of course Chicago has surface lots, but far less than everyone else. Everyone does With that asside, your last statement struck me as highly preferential. Your list doesn't at all support your point since it doesn't exactly relate to what is really an urban experience.

I have been on flickr for almost 3 years now. I love it, and it's definitely become a hobby of mine. I'm really happy that a lot of websites out there have shown interest in my photos. I'm also happy that 99% of all websites properly cite and link back to my profile as explicitly stated in my profile. I don't charge for photos, and I offer full resolution images. What really bothers me though is how easily flickr allows random websites to search and cache images. Essentially, sites are generating large databases of images from sites like flickr and storing them on THEIR servers. Technically, they are violating my license for noncommercial use since they generate revenue from advertising, and search results are their product. What's worse is there is nothing I can do to remove the image from their site. As much as I hate to do it, i've closed my profile from public views and made the images non-downloadable. I miss the old days of flickr.

I don't know if anyone has had this situation. But have you ever visited a facebook profile of a friend that died? It's really saddening, but also a phenomenon that I'm sure will become more common as more people join and we continue to age or certain tragedies occur.

Very wide roads in small downtowns are common across Michigan. Some historic ones have five lane roads with parking running through them! Not sure why. Maybe to turn large horse drawn farming vehicles around in the old days? Anyways, you'll find a lot of wide streets with angled parking. I wouldn't say it's a bad thing considering how automobile oriented society is, some downtowns' survival is contingent on easy available parking. In Armada's case, it works although I'd like to see more street trees.

Nice! Looks like its doing pretty good.
  13. I just noticed the bridge pillars are made out of wood. Who knows how rotted those may have become.

  15. Sorry, I came off hard on my comment rockandroller. I've realized I've been a bit of a pretentious asshole lately.
  16. Wow, they really went a long way through the park
  17. Well, it's pretty simple. You sign a contract, and you abide by it. If you can only receive ONE enclosed parking space, then that's what you get. That's the legal side There are many other approaches you can take. For example, are any other tenants experiencing the same problems? If so, perhaps a bunch of you can approach the landlord and request to use unoccupied carport slots, maybe even pay for them. Strength in numbers. I'm sorry, the idea of threatening legal action against a landlord for the fact that wildlife on adjacent property is affecting your vehicle seems ridiculous. If this held true, I could sue my landlord for rust on my car, because the snow just keeps coming down and we are only allowed one garage space. I may not be an attorney. But I've read through a lot of tenant's rights manuals. Believe me, my rental house got foreclosed I know it seems unfair, but that's life.

Just wait till his insurance goes up. It's crazy when you witness these sort of things.
  19. There is nothing you can do. A contract is a contract.
  20. The photos are several months old at the very least when I saw them on break.com. But delayed posts could either means months or years ago. I'd also blame the engineers/county/whoever manages that bridge as well. It looks pretty third world. You wonder how two passing tractors ever made it over that thing They moved a house over a bridge a block from my house. (incident free)
  21. The aqua building is going to be awesome when it's done. It will be another great Chicago icon http://forum.skyscraperpage.com/showthread.php?t=99367&page=137

I found this awesome car chase in my hometown from back in '03. This guys is crazy, `Up to 100mph on city streets, driving the wrong way on the freeway, and yes there is a crash
  23. Sadly, I saw some websites go from good to bad as the years became more recent. I was looking at music artist's websites in particular. the early-mid 2000's were the peak with amazing flash layouts and graphics. Then myspace music came out and the sites became trash. Probably because myspace is trash.
  24. We should have best out-of-state-midwest-only-though forumer.
  25. Callowhill is a neighborhood just north of Center City adjacent to the Vine St Expressway. It has/had many industrial buildings although many are being converted into office and residential spaces This building has some importance for any hip-hop gurus  The end
