  1. LOL yeah, I remember seeing that human tetris game, I love it when the one dude cheats by laying down. Break.com is putting them in a series and adds a couple vids to it every so often.
  2. And if they aren't getting it on a CD, they are buying it (or stealing it) online at half the quality! I didn't realize I had my bass cranked when I played that example. The second sample (at 2006) was really horrible on my ears.
  3. Man, that's effed up. Definitely not a good time for planning (or architectural design) back then.
  4. Woooow! Stunning images! I like the illuminated buildings too.

A lot of people complain that their less expensive point shoot cameras are incapable of excellent photographs, but if you know how to use all their features, it's surprising what you can get. I have a Canon Powershot that is over 6 years old now, which takes 3 mega pixel images and has a limited amount of manual features, but it's captured a few of my best shots. Two years ago I got a Canon S2-1S and that was a definite improvement, but really all I received was some more crisp images and a better zoom. Today I'm heading out and buying a Nikon D-40. Lets face it, Hayward is a baller.

On the comment above about shorter service, I totally agree. I'm Catholic and attend from time to time, but I can't stand the LOOONG masses when I come home to visit my parents. They seriously last an hour and fifteen minutes. The songs are dull, and the homily is way to long. It's not the message, it's the presentation that bores me. If anyone avoids church because they feel it's boring, I can definitely understand that. My church back in college was way more interesting with louder more upbeat music, and mass was about 35-40 mins long. As far as the mom in the video, she definitely reacted in the wrong way, but I can see why she would be upset.

Very nice! It's great to see some older photos of Sacramento for once. It seems like on other sites all they ever show is the taller buildings.
  9. Seriously, as much as I love using sketchup, I can do without urban planners illustrations of a vast neighborhood of block massing models. I guess that's the architect in me.
  10. I decided not to study for my masters in architecture but planning instead (starting this fall at U of Mich). Trying something new. In the meantime, I'll continue working my job at an architecture firm.
  11. Hmm, people seem to know what I'm talking about when I say urban planning here in Michigan. Funny thing is, people immediately go into their "I wish my town was more walkable. Will you design more walkable communities? I hate parking lots. Are you going to fix Detroit?" Yes........

Wow, these were excellent Chris! A lot of great views.
  13. Looks like good money, but imagine if you screwed up. Everyone would hate you, and you'd lose your job at the same time.
  14. Great thread! Thanks for posting these.
  15. Wooaaaaaaah. So how would he go about preserving that now? All it takes is one accidental tip sideways.

I have a feeling all the loyal pissed off SC4 fans are going to take some other game, and build their own SimCity on top of it. For Example, I always hated how unrealistic Chicago looked in Midtown Madness 1. So when google started coming out with Chicago Buildings in the 3d warehouse, I'd plunk them in 3ds, rebuild the street grid and river system and edit it into the game. I don't think I'll ever finish it, but if I get far enough, it will be the best thing ever.

Great pictures, especially the night ones. Glad you got a chance to get back up there.
  18. What an incredible thread! Thank you for putting this together. It was very interesting to see all these old photos.

Tilted Mill effed it up I hate it I will forever remain dedicated to SimCity 4/Rush Hour
  20. I had my Tiger Stadium memories, and I'm ready to let the place go now. Please, CofD, just tear it down and get it over with. Really so many attempts have been made to save it. As much as I love it, it just can't be around any longer. BTW, the side note about model t's... we still have the old factory, and it's in okay condition!

Wait, that still doesn't make any sense. If that was the case, professional photographers would have pay the random subjects of the work when they put their work up for sale in a gallery. That old rustic barn, the random city shots. They are profiting off property and people in those photos. It's completely legal. And they never asked anyway. The laws are already clear cut aren't they? Think about it, we post photo threads of people's homes businesses, and their faces on this site everyday. And there are advertisements on each page! (not that anyone is profiting still....) I just don't see why people are overreacting. I can understand some of the privacy issues, and from what I'm reading, google will respond to any images found offensive and replace them. Right now it just takes time, since this was unexpected. Why do people care if their images is used for profit? So what? Don't we owe google for the services they've provided to us over the years?

It's really funny when you think about it. Most of the stuff mentioned in that article is about PEOPLE being irresponsible, not google. It's all about the dirty part of american society. As if we didn't already know we are being watched for the past few decades by security cameras and what not. And as if we didn't already know when the internet became popular, people would be seen doing stupid things on sites such as youtube. I side with google on this issue. If people really don't want to be photographed on a public street, then stay in your house, and pull the curtains shut.
  23. Awesome photos of the canyon and wildlife.

Ya, my friend works for the firm that did the renovation. I'll ask if I can post some of the renderings of the inside of the office since I have no photos of its completed state.
  25. I really haven't seen much of Indy before. Looks like they have some nice new construction!
