It's always been puzzling to me that some men who claim emphatically to be straight can obsess about what other men do in their bedrooms.
  2. I like the idea of saving the facade. It provides an opportunity for future construction of new usable space behind it while preserving the visual integrity of the block
  3. Huh? Wha'? Oh, wow, man, like, I totally forgot  !
  4. Idle hands, a restless mind and Photoshop conspired to produce this altered-state view of the Swing Bridge:
  5. Zaceman, you're right in your comment on the first photo; the streetcars ran in the subway and lower deck of the D-S bridge from its opening until the end of service in 1954. I'm not absolutely sure, but I think the structure in the right foreground of the photo may be one of the subway station entrances. In the right middle distance the piers are in place for the Union Terminal Viaduct (now used by the Rapid to the West Side), but the structure hasn't been finished. It was completed in 1929. Although it's hard to tell from the distance, there may still be scaffolding around the top of Terminal Tower; I think this photo was taken at about the same time as the photo of the tower under construction. Marvelous collection of photos. If you haven't attended the bridge-subway tour, I recommend it. If they follow the established pattern, the next date will be Saturday of Labor Day Weekend; you can find out for sure from the office of the Cuyahoga County Engineer.
  6. I've been a farm kid, tool and die maker, spent a little time at Purdue and a little more at Indiana U, gave Uncle Sam 4 years in the USAF, worked as an accountant for longer than I liked, and retired in 2000 from IBM Global Services as a PC Support guy on a contract site with an insurance company. Now I indulge my long-term interest in photography and work on my old house in a city neighborhood in Fort Wayne. Recently I started a web site to share some photos at http://www.robertpence.com/
