Moving to Dayton
I live and rent in South Park. Are you urban attuned? City living is not the suburbs.

Dayton: Historic Photos
Anyone have an old picture of the Sears building? The R and A from the old sign was salvaged by Real Art—who are currently moving from OD to Ballpark Village/Tech Town/Webster Station/First Street area.

New Bremen, Ohio
The city is pretty much owned by Crown. The keep it this clean. They are partially responsible for this preservation. A lot like Longaberger owns Newark or Smuckers owns Orville. But I couldn't tell you these cities are well kept as New Bremen. Thanks for the great photos.

In Search of the Dunbar House (Dayton)
Looking at some more recent Sanborn maps "Dayton, Ohio; 1918-1932 vol. 1, 1918" of the Haymarket area, 311/313 Howard was still a double, but it was now brick with expanded kitchens. It's quite possible PLD's first home did not survive the 1913 flood. I remember this from your blog. This was a great post, Jeff. :-D

2007: Four Ohio Cities in Top 20 Most Dangerous Cities
It also depends on what part of the city you live in, too. Patterson Park is safer than say Riverdale. I hate this statistic. New Orleans is not on that list because they don't disclose their stats, I think.

Thanks for your kind words, Boreal. MayDay, if you're ever in Dayton, I can tell you of places that serve draft Great Lakes (everyone here stocks their bottles). The local tavern in my neighborhood currently has Christmas Ale and Edmund Fitzgerald on tap. It's a beautiful thing.

Fortunately, that bed moulding was already white before the brackets went up. Plus, if you just get close with your painting, it looks fine from even 5 feet.

I think I screwed up not embedding this in the column. :[
