Columbus: Random Development and News
Toddguy replied to Summit Street's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionYeah this would have sucked for me when I lived in Cbus-I would get onto Mound in Wilshire Heights and go right down and get on 70 and would be screwed over If I still lived there. Given how far south I was(south of Sullivant)I would probably have just stayed on 70 and looped back around to 71 or 315 since it would not involve any traffic lights, but yeah it is still an inconvenience any way your look at it. Also the area in blue(IMO)is one of the most forlorn and neglected areas of Columbus now. Outside of a few nice neighborhoods it is seen as just a mass of crime, killings, drugs and OD deaths. :( Especially the Central Hilltop and out to Wedgewood-which is a disaster. I wish I knew what the City has planned for this area, any action to be taken(if any). This cutoff seems, as I said before, just like another FU to an area of the city that is just not cared about. Why do those poor Hilltoppers need to be going up North anyways, they need to stay down there(and keep their problems there with them). It is like the Hilltop is the new South Linden, etc.. It used to stand for the Asylum("You better act right or they will take your crazy self over to the Hilltop")and now it is just another "worst area of the city/abandon hope all ye who enter here" type of thing. JMHO.

Columbus: Random Development and News
Toddguy replied to Summit Street's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionExactly that is the way I go but from the other direction and 315 is so much fun with all the cranes and new buildings. I really want another OSU building of decent height (like over 12 floors or something). The new hospital building is awesome coming back down 315 when it is straight ahead at that one point and very very dominant.

Weird Real Estate Listings
My Gawd, and I thought I was bad with too many pictures on the walls and not enough clear open surfaces. I would kill myself If I had to dust those rooms. They are all awful. You know there are "murdered" dolls buried in that basement or in a freezer or something.

Toddguy replied to Summit Street's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionAs usual, it is another FU to the West/Southwest side of the city. OK wait is this from 70 to 315 North or 670 to 315 North? Nevermind I don't care about the 70/315 work(as long as I am not impacted by the FU-age going on lol). Can they just go around the innerbelt and get on 315N from 670 westbound?

Columbus: Downtown: RiverSouth Developments and News
Toddguy replied to CMH_Downtown's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionThey should be pushed not only for a less monolithic look, but for some tapering at the top(add a few more floors and add penthouses/activate some rooftop amenity areas for God's Sake), good materials, and a good looking first floor facade that will do justice to the beauty of the old bank building. I really do not want to see a flat topped box. *market rate equals unaffordably high for most folks. Sigh. So they better give us something decent to look at!

Toddguy replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionOk I officially kind of like the townhomes...I honestly don't get the extreme hatred of them lol. Yeah they are kind of uninspired but if the materials are not dirt cheap they won't look so bad...??? What is wrong with me?-why don't I hate them as well??? Hmmmm...

Columbus: Franklinton Developments and News
I also seriously question this move to this location. One saving grace is that it is only a couple blocks from a massive parking garage. Too bad they could not find an actual old building to relocate in for the expected ambiance that comes with going there. *Way back when I dated a server there and I would never ever go there again after the horrors I learned. *shudders* - I am sure it is not that way now of course lol.

Toddguy replied to Summit Street's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionAt my age actually it is not weird, it is eccentric. This is one of the few benefits of age and I am taking it lol. *Check out on Youtube Post Modern Jukebox and Hailey Reinhardt's jazzy rendition of "Creep". It has over 100 million views and was at the top of the Jazz charts at one time. *someone needs to post comparison shots of downtown now vs 2000. The Great Downtown Columbus Parking Crater is no more.

Columbus: Weinland Park Developments and News
Over two dollars/square foot per month is just the norm nowadays. Wow. I am sure they will be nice for those who can afford them though and the growing density of the area is just great. Fifth is turning into it's own linear node now. We need more of this(and more affordable housing thrown in the mix as well).

Dublin: Bridge Park / Bridge Street District Developments and News
Toddguy replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionI am just so used to appalling projects that I guess I was just glad it was not beige or gray monotony. When it comes to the attractiveness of the design of these type of things the bar is basically in hell. i was just surprised it was not all dull brick or oppressively dark gray.

Toddguy replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionReally? I didn't think they were that bad. I might just lack good taste however, and have normalized ugly.

Toddguy replied to Summit Street's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionDammit I discovered this on my own and did not even think to post about it. I am so out of it lol. But yes seeing all of the infill and the Peninsula is great. Can anyone else get lost in examining these when they update and spend way to much time on it or am I just a weirdo?

Toddguy replied to CMH_Downtown's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionI found Jman on reddit so I bet he has infested social media as well. "But Austin, Charlotte, Nashville!!!!!!" If they could push it up a few floors great, but otherwise a nice design, good materials, and an appropriate entry floor on High will be fine. The 30 story tower can go on the Schiff lot down the street. It is not like we are lacking spaces for towers.

New Albany: Ohio One (Intel Semiconductor Facility)
"Mink Massacre" also sounds like a good band name. The only name that bothers me is Jug Street. I cannot- not think of the movie "Mother, Jugs, and Speed" lol. And then I can't get the movie out of my head!

It is bad. But it could be worse-it could be plural.

Toddguy replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionThanks for the pics. They really look to have done a good job with Topiary Park-such a good idea for that old parking strip. I would imagine they would be really popular. This area is looking like a big success to me and I am glad to see it.

Columbus: Westland Developments and News
Toddguy replied to CMH_Downtown's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionThis is how it should be done, we will have to see if the will to do it exists. Certainly housing(especially affordable)but also very mixed use, with retail but also some employment areas of some kind, and maybe some educational institution(branch) as well. And it should extend north of Broad-that yellow area you marked is a mess and is unsatisfactory being right next to a freeway interchange. Should retain the Popeye's though lol. The park area being at the south end could also serve Havenwood or whatever they are now calling the remains of Lincoln Park West. There are or will soon be a thousand housing units there as well. And a hotel for the Casino, something with some height. *but we will probably get a low end version of Hamilton Quarter or something at best, unfortunately. We really should be very vocal about what we want for that spot.

Toddguy replied to CMH_Downtown's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionWhere is the United Way development at? I can't find it. *Also that probably dead 16 story Christopher Inn thing from 2021.

Columbus: Downtown: RiverSouth Developments and News
Toddguy replied to CMH_Downtown's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionThe general massing is ok with me-as long as the balconies are inset and they use good materials. Maybe some penthouse type units at the top for some tapering and and a few more floors? I don't mind the box so much if they have a couple or three setbacks at the top.

Columbus: Downtown: RiverSouth Developments and News
Toddguy replied to CMH_Downtown's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionThis is cruel and unusual punishment. Even worse since I am extra nosey. Spill! lol Also along with the 4 under construction, don't we still have the something at the Schiff corner, the proposal for 18 where they think the trashy 60's building there is historic? Also still possible for where Millennium and Harmony were? Also the 30 story proposal for The Peninsula? That would be another five places where there is a possibility? I think we might get to the 17 but it will be close. Also the Arena District and Astor Park could have some surprises. *jonoh81 would have a complete list of possibilities I would think. *Also if they go at least 15 floors on this new thing and have a really nice stone/something for the first floor and have some retail, I am willing to say goodbye to the 2 buildings and their facades at this point. Just looking at it that stretch is hopeless because of CC-which just ruins everything near it.

Toddguy replied to CMH_Downtown's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionMaybe they could go to 20 and keep the facades? A little encouragement wouldn't hurt now would it?

Columbus: Downtown: RiverSouth Developments and News
Toddguy replied to CMH_Downtown's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionWorst case scenario is they level it all and put up something like the CC across the street to make it all blend together in utter banality. Ugh!

Columbus: Scioto Peninsula Developments and News
Yes. and maybe some public art that is incorporated into the actual outside wall of concrete-somethings to help break up the mass and change up the shape as well. Even slight extensions of that facade that are of a different material and shape(as in box like or something)might be ok. Are they thinking of COSI like they appear to think of the Convention Center?-like it is some great architecture that must be preserved and all?(I hate the look of the CC and think it needs a big overhaul on the outside). *also some of y'all are nasty up in this thread lol.
