Thank you. My main point in posting this is to get everyone to get the proper screenings. People need to know their family histories, what they may be susceptible to getting, and to get any and all health/preventative screenings. I am lucky that my PCP was ordering the PSA Antigen tests frequently since I was about 50, even though I would normally not be getting them that often-maybe two to three years apart for my situation normally. Screenings and preventative medicine is so important and I want people on here to be proactive about this. There are a lot of smart, interesting, and valuable guys(pretty much all guys lol)on here and guys tend to not follow through with this stuff so much-but they should. Also this thread is for any general health postings, questions, discussion, etc. I made this thread because apparently there is no thread for health related posts. Now there is, so people can use it if they so choose. *I am doing this on several boards-at least the ones that are not trash. If one person benefits, the posts are worth it.

*Yeah this is a bit long.... I want to encourage everyone to get any health screenings that may be appropriate for them. Things like regular Dr. visits, labwork such as a Men's Health Profile that covers a number of things and costs only about $100.00 with no insurance at OSU, PSA antigen tests, Colonoscopies/feces testing for occult blood, etc. Insurance coverage of course should help. I am 59 now and I have been getting all of these tests done. I had a colonoscopy last year- it runs in my family. I also had a PSA antigen test for Prostate Cancer, even though I am not high risk and it has never been in my family. This year I had another PSA test, and the level was suddenly much higher(ten times higher). I had an MRI and yesterday a biopsy(horrible experience since they have a large ultrasound instrument shoved up your butt when they stab into you with needles). I have a pretty large tumor that based on the MRI, has the worst rating(a 5 out of 0-5, with 5 being worst). I am waiting on the pathology reports and treatment options, etc. I have no symptoms, and the digital rectal exam initially done did not find anything as the tumor is located where it cannot be felt in such an exam. This all blew up in one year-from normal to very not normal, and I have no symptoms. This appears to be aggressive and if I was not getting regular PSA tests I would never have been able to catch it. I am hoping for the best with this. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- There are mostly men on this board, and men tend to not take care of their health, get screenings, etc. compared to women. I know my mother would push my father to get these things done. -Have a primary care physician. If nothing else, see about a basic men's health profile-covers the basic stuff. -get routine screenings that are appropriate for you, your age, your medical history and family history. -Don't necessarily wait until you have symptoms. If it is recommended for you or appropriate for you, get it done. Please use my example(I did everything right by getting the tests and hopefully have caught this in time to save my life)and do what you can to be healthy and monitor your health and health risks. *I am only sharing this here on this board because it is a well run board with mostly decent people posting(as compared to many which are cesspools) and if it helps one person it will be worth it.

I am just starting a health thread since there does not appear to be one and I want to start off with a post about something. Anything health related, questions, discussion, etc. can go here.
  4. The natural beauty and rolling hills should be something stressed to get people moving there with the incoming boom and all. You just don't have that topography much around Central Ohio. Lancaster as well.
  5. Crosspost or link to in the Affordable thread please. Or maybe I will...but I am kinda lazy today. Good that there is going to be some affordability planned for this in an area that really needs to maintain affordable housing.
  6. It is a Surgery Center and Medical Clinic-so a law firm for malpractice claims would fit right in! A circle of life thing?

Also the football forums can be fun. LOL at the endless Harbaugh jokes in the College Football threads.
  8. Ok... what is it, where is it, and can we have something like this for real? lol. Maybe the Westland area? Or maybe a giant Buckeye nut that would be similar? We need something fun like this sitting up on concrete piers. I love Programmatic architecture
  9. You are very right. Maybe a Central American or Latin(x) neighborhood would be good-just something broader than "Mexican". And yes there are many Central Americans and some South Americans there-my parent's old house in Lincoln Village was purchased by their neighbors-who immigrated from Ecuador(really nice people and smart enough to get their kids in good private schools).
  10. Yeah lol you are right-unless they were able to go for five over six and all like the awful Columbus Commons-topping out with top floor ceiling heights just at or below the 75 foot crossover point to where the steel or concrete is required over the stick-built stuff. Funny that. lol This is likely right as well. Well good. Finally something opening first in Central Ohio on the crappy west side-and easy for me to escape to from get to from West Jeff area. *and they have DIET Mt. Dew!!! Can't wait!
  11. Well I will be right across the street from that site tomorrow so I will take a look. That area always makes me think of the now dead Wonderland community that always flooded.
  12. I remember this(it looks nice), but I don't remember if there is an affordable component with it? It looks like a good start for downtown Newark. Now with Intel, who knows? 5-10 floors is not out of the question.

*Topic rises from the dead... OK I have avoided Reddit but with the war in Ukraine I have been lurking in certain areas a lot and I have found that there are numerous little niche subreddits that are not bad at all and are quite useful and entertaining, as opposed to the toxic cesspool that some subreddits are(and social media in general), so I joined but have not posted anything yet.
  14. Light hearted jokes or sarcasm are hard to detect online, especially for me so thanks. That is what I thought but I didn't want to put the lol emoji if I was wrong lol. The pics do look like Intel is going to war with the Earth itself to get this thing up and going and I like it.
  15. Given the topic of Franklin vs other counties nearby, and the downtown thing, what is the outlook for downtown Newark when it comes to housing or affordable housing downtown? Would that be one area where the locals might be ok with it? I mean sure Cbus should try and leverage this as much as possible especially for downtown, but Newark should be trying to do the same thing for it's downtown, right? It is a nice little downtown IMO. Of course I would love for them to stick affordable housing projects into any possible nook or cranny they can in downtown Cbus, and the rest of the city and county as well. Out here in Madison County they are not building anything residential it seems. It is like they want nothing to do with "more people living here".
  16. Hey pics are pics I will never complain about anyone posting any since I never post any myself. I rely on these pics to know what is going on. I can't be sure if the light hearted sarcasm I see in your post is there or not, or if you are actually complimenting the camera work for making it look like those (cool)colorized WW2 photos...I have zero skills at detecting nuance on line so I don't know how to respond to your post lol. *I do like the rugged battlefield look though. I wonder how many local residents there would be aghast and appalled at the "wanton urban expansion and degradation of their rural paradise" and all when seeing such pics?
  17. What a mess! I hope they are getting well paid to be working on this with winter coming and all. It being so windy and then so cold today reminded me of what people working in construction and related things have to deal with. It almost looks like a battlefield in Ukraine.
  18. Well I don't know if I would call it a major park at 1.7 acres(isn't that about 200 by 350 feet?-I wonder if it will be that whole rectangle at the address listed)but it will still be a nice neighborhood park for the area and a great little amenity for West Franklinton. I could not help but laugh at the "in perpetuity" part. Even if we all get nuked they will still be taking care of that park and they mean it! lol
  19. Is there any kind of benign or beneficial "institution" that could be located there(mall site)as part of a mixed use project? Maybe a college campus/extension of an existing college, trade school, just something that could add to the mix besides the usual work, live, shop thing?
  20. Yes, that and the lot east of it. And if only they could move or kind of consolidate that ugly electrical substation. Can they build a wall around those? There is another one north of Nationwide Arena and they are like little ugly tumors in the CBD to me.
  21. Have to make it a bit more "hip' than that WeCa maybe? lol. Maybe a SoCa and a NoCa to go with it? Carmenton is so bland and banal sounding. Like a subdivision of ugly tract homes.
  22. I will hope for something along the lines of what ColDayMan posted(but not as tacky looking)but will prepare to be disappointed. This is the Westland area we are talking about. It seems nothing really good or nice happens in this area. I would love to be proven wrong though.
  23. This was my first thought. It could help some at least. Hopefully there will be some trees/landscaping(even though it is facing an alley). The worst lower part will be hidden from view for the most part and I am ok with it-this is progress, not perfection-trying to really hard to see the glass half full and all lol. Maybe they can be urged to mix up the color scheme a bit-add some variation???
  24. This is great news. Now I hope we hear about some plans for those underutilized lots between the Neil and the river.
  25. 100 million seems a lot for 180 rooms. I hope it is relatively tall, but I have my doubts.
