Columbus: Downtown Developments and News
I think maybe 30,000 might be doable.

Columbus: Ohio Expo Center Developments and News
That whole area is a weird crazy quilt of uses, and yeah many of the buildings are strange. One of the oddest parts of the city maybe.

Columbus: Ohio Expo Center Developments and News
That article is nine years old and there is no mention of parking-the problems mentioned were not enough horse stalls and the need for maybe a new building. A garage that could be used for parking(for cars) might be a solution and might even free up some space(but yeah, the $$$$$'s needed-that is why we need a patron saint billionaire for the city lol.)

Columbus: Old North Columbus Developments and News
Toddguy replied to Columbusite's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionYou are probably right but maybe there is still some hope that the commission might suggest a few more floors to the 17 floor tower version in exchange for leaving the two row house sections and adding the retail north of them? We can still hope the commission gets it's head out of it's a$$ and does the right thing for the site. I hope that they have not f#$%ed around and found out just to lose it all(rowhomes included) and get that big ugly block of a building. WHY! don't they ever learn? smh

Columbus: Old North Columbus Developments and News
Toddguy replied to Columbusite's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionThe building footprint plus being 6 floors makes it difficult to see how they get 80 apts. plus a hotel plus 3/4 retail places. I am glad they are doing it though and making it really mixed use. Let the building begin! *I guess having the parking outside of that footprint helps.

Columbus: Parsons Avenue Corridor Developments and News
Toddguy replied to CMH_Downtown's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionIt would be even better if they built another one of these at the intersection one block north of this one(keeping the older building on the north side of it of course.) We really need housing and Parsons is ripe for it. Clintonville is probably a lost cause. :( We have to cheer on where development is possible, and the Parsons corridor is one of those. Clintonville?-all we can do is throw our hands up in frustration lol.

Springfield: Development and News
Too bad West Jeff can't get any housing built. That 1,000 unit development they had proposed here is dead I think. Good for Springfield though. I can't believe there are people opposed to the housing though.

You know it is a good pic when someone(me)sees it and the first thing is "oeoeoeoeoeoeoeohhhhh!!!!" lol. We need an emoticon/emoji for that.

Grove City: Developments and News
I grew up in a planned suburb but there were dozens of types of homes in all kinds of styles, sizes, materials, etc. I can't stand these new developments with everything looking alike. It is soul killing.

Columbus: Short North Developments and News
Toddguy replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionI really hope that they choose the one closest to the original. These area commissions are getting out of hand and it is unacceptable. About time. How long has this been proposed-it seems close to ten years. Finally!

Columbus: Clintonville Developments and News
Toddguy replied to Summit Street's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionI am old and live in an area with NO infrastructure except for cars and grew up in a very car oriented time but I don't mind bike lanes. And yes I can be crotchety about driving and feeling inconvenienced by them but at the same time I am glad they are there and other people who want to use them can. And I will admit that out in Prairie township where they have bike lanes along 40, I have been surprised and pleased to see that people can be seen using them. I never felt threatened by alternated transit forms but I have felt inconvenienced, which is something I work to get over. I think older drivers set in their ways have to be especially aware of them for safety reasons since they are sort of a new thing that we did not have to deal with when driving when younger. Drivers in general need to be more bike/pedestrian/transit friendly in their thinking and when actually driving. And yes protected bike lanes will be safer and should be in wider use. *unfortunately I have never had a good experience with COTA. Every. single. time. I have had some difficulties-usually rude crazy or obnoxious fellow passengers-which is the real problem with public transit-people who do not know how to act right use it a lot. Also I would much rather deal with bikes and bike lanes than damn motorcyclists, who are in the roads and seem to never follow any basic traffic rules. Swerving in and out of traffic, no turn signals used, etc. etc. Give me bikes and busses any day over that.

Columbus: Downtown: Arena District Developments and News
Toddguy replied to CMH_Downtown's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionI just happened to have appts. at both 915 Olentangy and at 1145 Olentangy and on the upper floors and the monotony of the Grandview Yard area made me think of this post. From those vantage points it was even more apparent. A sea of 4-5 story brick buildings. It reminded me of old factory or mill town complexes in places Like Lowell and Lawrence Massachusetts. Just an old brick manufacturing district look. It did look very much like you described-spread out and brick-boring-just like the Arena District. Can't NRI do anything to break up the monotony? It did not have to be this way for either area. I just don't understand the sprawling monotony of both places.

Columbus: Downtown: Arena District Developments and News
Toddguy replied to CMH_Downtown's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionNow we have to hope for things to be just as good for other older building projects. The old Kroger factory, the Brewery district stuff, that 6 story building east of the Statehouse with the inner courtyard that has a name I cannot remember right now... What other stuff am I forgetting?

Columbus: Scioto Peninsula Developments and News
Great. I did not think I could possibly have wanted this development more. I was wrong. Can't the city or some entity just drop some funds to help it along? It will be worth it in the long run. Come on, Les! We can call it the Wexner Cityview Tower or some such thing. Make one more lasting landmark for your ego! Nothing wrong with that. edit-the video they have at CU is so good.

Toddguy replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionYou mean sort of like the Lennox Center, but worse? Thank God they scrapped those ideas. *I still miss Big Bear though.

New Albany: Ohio One (Intel Semiconductor Facility)
Yeah! No way do I want to sacrifice a half million square foot office building. I am greedy about this-I want as much as we can possibly get and pray daily for that Chips Act to get passed lol. I am Veruca Salt regarding this-I want it all!!!! Every. Damn. Bit. we can get, I want it. I want 8, 10, whatever fabs and everything that goes along with them. 12,000 workers plus in those fabs and thousands upon thousands of more good jobs and all of the other development that goes along with it. "Silicon Heartland" is not a bad label for our region at all-let's grab it!
-
New Albany: Ohio One (Intel Semiconductor Facility)
Um, maybe they just need to pipe the stream underneath and go with that proposal and maybe help out some other stream nearby? I want that office building! *Any streams there seem to be little more than small runnels anyways.

Columbus: Downtown: Merchant Building
Yeah, I agree-let Austin have him. We do need a Patron Saint Billionaire though-but I doubt he would shower us with hundreds of millions of dollars worth of cultural stuff. We just have to wait and hope for some billionaire to step up for us(and a generous one at that-we gotta pray! lol). Wexner is on his way out. :(

Grandview Heights: Grandview Yard
Toddguy replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionYeah I guess they did the best they could with Gowdy being an old dump-making it difficult to construct anything extensive over it, resulting in the rather small footprints of the buildings and the massive parking lots. No excuse for what they did with the Giant Eagle site however.

Cleveland: Population Trends
Yeah I was just being snarky lol. And we all know these estimates since Covid are a big mess anyway. This data to me is really meaningless.
