  1. They are not wasting any time-and I am here for it!
  2. So it looks like 42 of the overall units/homes will be affordable or somewhat affordable? Not horrible for a development of 237 units/homes. Good to see any new housing units going up-they cannot possibly build them soon enough,
  3. People out here will fight developments that encroach too much on the creeks or primary tributaries. Also they are against "density" the same way people used to be against "urban" things. Density is the new urban. and Columbus is not annexing anything really too far out on the west side. The far west side is sort of like a Calgary or some other city-the development just suddenly drops off around a certain line-anything beyond that is super sprawlish due to the impact on the creeks. They can go northwest past Dublin or southwest past Grove City though.
  4. I just opened another window and went to the post and copy/pasted it on the original UA window I had open. And used the same thing you used but left it as a link only for the original post. I guess when I get more time I will add some more recent affordable housing posts here doing it the same way to get some material in this thread. And if any new are posted and not also posted here, I will do the same thing(or anyone can really). I just wanted a thread where people could easily keep track of affordable housing developments and news without having it all scattered in various threads(where it also needs to be posted based on the development being in a certain section of the city as people also want to keep track of developments and news by location.)
  5. How does my new post look? It is basically the same as the original with a link to the original post.
  6. Get a look at Brad DeHays' first prefab apartment project “The first project for Connect Housing Blocks will be on Maryland Avenue, just south of Interstate 670. Matt Schuenke, chief operating officer for Connect Housing Blocks, said the project will include 74 units across four buildings. There will be 16 one-, 46 two- and 12 three-bedroom units. Each dwelling unit is made up of several module units, like a bedroom and living room, meaning 220 modular units will be required for the project. A fifth building will serve as a community center for the project.“ https://www.bizjournals.com/columbus/news/2022/03/15/connect-housing-block.html ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ https://forum.urbanohio.com/topic/255-columbus-near-east-side-king-lincoln-olde-towne-east-developments-and-news/?do=findComment&comment=1053485
  7. what would be the best way to do that? For news or developments already posted, would I just copy everything and then just provide a link to the original post? Not exactly the brightest bulb here when it comes to these kind of things/technologically backwards here.
  8. Now don't y'all forget about this thread! Remember to cross post any affordable housing stuff. Even some of the recent stuff can be reposted here... And thanks for the upvotes @amped91and @Luvcbus
  9. I have been in those dollar stores here only a few times-I actually despise them and wish we would get another real grocery store again. Kroger was supposed to build a place on the north side of 40 just east of 142. There were supposed to be a 1000 unit development of housing, apartments, park space and space for an elementary school right across from it south of 40. Both have been stalled out for years. Lord knows with all of the new jobs that have come or are coming to West Jeff we could use the store and the housing, but maybe this little craptown is afraid of "the wrong people" moving into their little crap paradise. I do almost nothing here except dwell-I go to Columbus for everything or sometimes to London. There is no "here' here I would like a taller residential portion. Why can't they go to 12 floors? It is an attractive area and you have highrises just south of it. That would also take care of the density part. There is a housing shortage for all kinds of housing and I can't help but think they could get tenants or sell condo units there. Goodale Park and the Short North are just a walk away. Hell if I had the money I would be more than happy to buy or rent in a highrise there. Developers here are just very risk averse and conservative, and with Intel and all, I hope they change their outlooks. We are going to boom and they should be helping us get ready for it.
  10. Just thought I would make a thread about this subject so any news, projects or developments could be crossposted here and in any other regular development thread so it would be easier to keep track of specifically affordable housing info in our region.
  11. This is Schottenstein we are talking about and I doubt if they do anything in good faith. Arshot, Schottenstein, anything to do with them-just throw it all away. They have left us with an abandoned half demolished baseball stadium, threw a hissy fit over Their own dumb Central Crossing proposal, did nothing with Millennium Tower which was probably not in good faith anyway. I would not count on them to do anything, so turning the screws is the only thing left to do. And even if they come up with some proposals for those sites,, expect them to not be real or in good faith, and if they are, expect whatever is built to be subpar, cheap, and underwhelming. That association of groups has dropped the ball to many times for me. I would love for them to prove me wrong, but I am not counting on that. The best thing they could do is sell it all to someone or some group who will do the sites justice. *sorry for being so negative but I am just tired and worn out today.
  12. Hell all I have to choose from is Dollar General or Family Dollar. Otherwise it is a 7 mile drive either east or southwest to even get to a Kroger. This little town sucks.
  13. I believe it was called Bicentennial Plaza 2 and it would have been a 21 story building. It is listed as Bicentennial Plaza Apartments on Emporis Columbus highrises and was supposed to be 21 floors and approximately 270 feet tall.
  14. Post these on some German Village forum and mention how tall and close to GV it is just to raise their collective blood pressures. Maybe a rumor of a 40 story tower on the north side of Livingston between 4th and Grant? lol.
  15. Yeah I know. But it could be revived or maybe a different but similar proposal might be announced-I have not given up hope for something kind of tall at that site. We seem to be beyond the 6-12 floor stuff on High downtown and there are only a couple spaces left. Even higher up High we have a 12 floor and a 17 floor proposal. And this proposal was received well. *Keeps fingers crossed
  16. This tweet is inaccurate. They did not miss 19 million people. They overcounted some and undercounted others. From the NYT-which is what was posted and what was being referred to: They overcounted white and Asian and undercounted black and others. See the NYT article. Suggesting they "missed" 19 million people can make people think the actual total was way off, when it was not. In other words, we do not have around 350 million people, but still around the 331 million mark.
  17. Those three will bring the number of buildings taller than 100 meters from 14 to 17. It has been 30 years since we have had any change in the number at all so this is pretty big. Maybe with the Intel thing we can get a few more and maybe break 20? If only we can get Harmony Tower!-that would help bridge the gap between the Statehouse cluster and the Nationwide cluster of buildings. I really think the Intel stuff can only make developers know that the boom for Central Ohio will continue and make them less risk-averse to going tall(20 floors or more). At 382' this buildings will be only 26 feet shorter than 3 Nationwide. It will really have a big presence on the skyline. Now if they would just put a 100 meter plus tower on Goodale next to the parking garage! And also on High across from the courthouse where the Main bar was torn down for the 7 space parking lot.
  18. So I guess this did not get the TMUD credits. Too bad. I hope they can move forward with it. With 26 floors they could get a ton of units in and in a very good area in downtown also. Would the city be able to help if a certain number of the units were 'workforce' or 'affordable'?
  19. Hopefully they will be able to make the tower happen, what with the Intel "boom" coming and all. What is happening in Europe may provide more of a push for "make sh*t here" instead of say Taiwan(with China looming over it).
  20. I wonder if all of the "boom" talk about Columbus with Intel made them think "they will be ok anyways" and were then just thinking about corporate jobs(CMM)and affordable housing in Linden and a bone to Franklinton with Gravity2, although this: uh...Gravity ll is supposed to bring...... what?????
  21. OK how about blue killer whales? The Scioto blue Orcas! Now if we can just get our blue serpent bridge canopy to go with them...
  22. LOL They do look like whales. Just imagine if they were at that site...the burn! If they really look like that people are going to refer to them as whales. The leaping Scioto whales. We have our deer(including one that is apparently slutty-remember?), and a slingshot thing to throw people across the river, and now we will have our river whales. i support it.
  23. I really really want to see this get going.
