Columbus: German Village / Schumacher Place Developments and News
Toddguy replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionI think I like this better. I would like it even more if it was an LGBTQ establishment. Nothing like loud drunken rowdy gays in the streets in the middle of the night...I remember it well lol. I mean they are a liberal enclave right?-and they need some 'nightlife' lol

Worthington: Developments and News
Sounds like those Dublin people who are opposed to any rental units whatsoever in "Ye Oulde Towne Dublin" because any people who rent are "transients" and all. smh. Too bad the land can't be disincorporated from Worthington and become a dense low income rental complex or maybe a prison or landfill or Satanic mega church or something-it would be what they deserve.

Columbus: Near East Side / King-Lincoln / Olde Towne East Developments and News
Toddguy replied to Summit Street's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionThis is great news. But we really need hundreds if not thousands of projects like this with the growth to come and given how far behind we are. The coming Boom is only going to make housing that much scarcer and unaffordable-the only real downside to it all. *They may look bland but not horrible...and there is some ground floor retail included. But no mention of parking? Don't they need at least 100 spaces for 50 units?-this is Cbus and all../sarcasm.

New Albany: Ohio One (Intel Semiconductor Facility)
Well this is happening fast. Let the boom begin.

Toddguy replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & Construction262 units on the way!!! Yasss! lol. They really should have a seafood restaurant and call it The Whaler or something. Ohhh I can almost feel the bitterness from The Whalers from 20 miles away lol. I hope construction starts up again tomorrow!

Columbus: General Business & Economic News
I remember back in the 70's when they had Georgesville Rd. as a 4 lane boulevard all the way to Norton, and there was nothing there, and everyone wondered "why did they build this road out like this?". This was one of the few times that road infrastructure was improved way before development came. That area is kind of messy for traffic sometimes, but nothing like Hilliard-Rome Rd.-which as most people know is a mess. Remember the exploding buildings associated with the Cash/ trash burning power plant! lol. This HQ will be great for the area-a shot in the arm for it. Something good for the Uncool Crescent! *shock* Now it they can just do something with the Westland site.

Grandview Heights: Grandview Yard
Toddguy replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionWould/could this be related to the Intel news? All that property that NRI owns and an impending boom?-no reason not to 'ramp' things up(go higher!).

Columbus: Random Development and News
Toddguy replied to Summit Street's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionWell it is a done deal then. Will this really help the traffic flow or is this just something to get land for some $$$ housing units?

Cleveland: Downtown: Gateway Megaproject
I would not complain one bit if someone could post renderings of what a tower like this(say 685 feet or higher)might look like in different forms(especially something with a nice taper and crown)on the site and in the Cleveland skyline? Sounds like this could be a project bigger and taller than NuCLEus and I cannot get the image of that proposal out of my mind when thinking of what the skyline might look like with a different proposal.

Columbus: Historic Photos
Well that might be the trees/shrub tops on a small island showing if the water is up, which it appears it is. Or it could be an actual photograph of the Scioto River Monster, a legendary creature rarely seen and even more rarely photographed, which of course I just made up. Someone has to start these legends, right?
-
Cleveland: Downtown: Gateway Megaproject
Well it was reduced to 685 feet and will not be a new tallest, but congrats for what you might get. Sounds like this may be huge!

So it really is a company from Orange California(nice little Orange County namesake town btw)that is moving here and will create a Global Headquarters and 700 good paying tech-ish manufacturing jobs...here in Cbus? Better not let another certain area of the state here about this....not this soon after the Intel news...shhhhh!!! lol(just harmless joshing about here). * OOOhhh this makes it worse! lol. /joking

That's right! And what about our property taxes? We will be forced out-Gentrification!!. "They" will start moving in and before you know it, this area will be like California! The Sodom of the heartland! *sobs while enraged*

But...but...it is already so hard to get off of Georgesville Rd. into the Kroger in Georgesville Square! The traffic is just too much as it is. This is just too much-it wasn't like this 40 years ago-too much development!-what has happened to our little town! This was always meant to be a nice suburban area on the edge of everything...to many people moving here...our quality of life! Wahhh!!!! lol

Columbus: General Business & Economic News
1. Which company is locating here...I see numerous Hyperion companies when searching including one in Reston, VA, one in Worthington, etc.? 2. So they might move to the site off of Georgesville rd.? That area? Really? 3. Apparently a not so slight chance that this ends up a bust. Oh well.

Toddguy replied to Summit Street's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionSeriously, do it where it makes sense. This just seems greedy to me. I side with the local wealthy suburban residents(for once lol). Is there a place to leave a comment on this? I would support the residents on this one. The open greenspace actually mimics one of the fairways of the golf course-it fits in well.

Toddguy replied to Summit Street's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionThis is one of the few cases where I say just leave it alone. Not worth it just to squeeze in a few more homes for some more $$$ for greedy developers when this is a planned community and it was planned with this greenspace in mind. Even if they change it to the roundabout and make it one road(for real or "perceived" need), leave the greenspace. * I remember in the 70's when Little Turtle was infamous for the large destructive fires that kept breaking out there.

Columbus: Random Development and News
Toddguy replied to Summit Street's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionWell since this is what I would like to see, not what I think is really possible... 1. The lots just east of the Statehouse: A large corporation moving to Cbus due to Intel, etc. 60 story tower, with pinnacle at least 950' ...and you know why I chose that number. Also some residential towers mixed in with retail(and yes, lots of structured including underground parking-it is what it is) in that general area. A real highrise very tall mixed use super development. 2. A highrise on the Northwest corner of Main and High. 3. A highrise proposal for the empty lot next to the Convention Center Garage along Goodale, or I would take a filling in of the emptiness that is Spring at Third, or the emptiness at Spring and Fourth.-either of these or the first mentioned would be ok. *I think the Short North and other areas will eventually take care of themselves-downtown needs the most help-and why not go tall? *as a bonus, Harmony Tower re-announced with an additional ten floors and breaking 500 feet in height.

The river looks very high in this pic-maybe that little island thing is some detritus that washed down? It if was a pic from a few decades later I might think it was a ...um...very large piece of Dublin sewage...
