Columbus: Franklinton Developments and News
I can't access the link since it is a paid site but can someone describe the two acre property? Is it just between McDowell and Mary and extends south or what? 320 units is great and this sounds really nice for the area.

Whitehall: Developments and News
That just means more and more housing units are unaffordable. So far according to that article housing prices in Whitehall have gone up over 24 percent this year along with over 13 percent for Greater Columbus in general. Have wages risen that much?

Toddguy replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & Construction^^ There is railing along the top of the church tower. What is it for? Anyone?

Big Darby Accord Region: Developments and News
GOOD! That area already is growing with the new development North of Broad and West of the Kroger at Galloway. They need to go ahead and build in that section-it also has a parkland as a barrier between it and Clover-Groff ditch/Hellbranch Run. We need the housing units. Plus beside the commercial development in it, it will be right by the new park, The Prairie Township Community Center and of course the Kroger across Broad.

Newark: Developments and News
Toddguy replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionI am so optimistic about Newark and "Greater Newark". The connections are good and growth from Cbus is edging that way. And the landscape makes a difference. The woods, fields, hills, streams, orchards, etc. make the area very appealing compared to much of Central Ohio. Besides Newark itself there is also Buckeye Lake and the wonderful Dawes Arboretum-I love the Cypress swamp so much it is a gem to me(I am plant crazy here lol). I took Bonsai classes at Dawes about 30 years ago. Did not mind the drive from the west side of Cbus at all.

Columbus: Olentangy River Road Developments
Toddguy replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionI agree and I would LOVE a line from Cbus to Pburgh going through Newark! C'mon Amtrak!!! *NYC to Pburgh to Cbus to Indy to Chicago would be ideal-to be able to take a train to either Chicago or NYC would be epic.

Columbus: Downtown: Lower.com Field / Astor Park
Yeah that was not a good idea. The 20 story tower, yes. Senior living center? no. Now now let's not be ageist and all* There are some seniors (or at least near seniors)on this board. Not ok to stereotype groups for laughs. Would you do that to blacks, gays, women, etc.?** Don't make me call AARP on your a$$-they go all out! lol. I am not saying that what you are saying is wrong, but maybe it is best left 'unsaid'? Agree though that a senior center is about the worst idea for that location. *especially since if something does not kill you off first, you will be a senior one day yourself(and getting old SUCKS)!!! trust me I just worked in my father's yard today and it almost killed my old a$$!!!! lol. **NIMBYS are an exception-attack at will and with no mercy!!!!!

Columbus: Italian Village: Jeffrey Park Development
Toddguy replied to Summit Street's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionMaybe holding off on the office building is a good thing. If the demand for office does not really recover, they could always change their minds a build a taller residential building there.

Columbus: Olentangy River Road Developments
Toddguy replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionCan you cite any studies that would show what ridership would be? Would it be worth it? Especially with a nice convenient freeway already connecting Newark and New Albany. The numbers have to be right, and I suspect that this line would not be a priority. Sorry I know how pro-Newark you are(I am too), but how feasible would this be? *Given another decade or two of roaring development between these two areas, things might be very different in a good way. The North is already crowded, the West is a no go because of the Darby Creeks, nobody wants to go South except for maybe the edges like Grove City and Canal Winchester/Pickerington, and that leaves the East-and with Pataskala a big 30+ square miles of slowish growth, that leaves the stretches along 70 and 161-which basically is leading to....Greater Newark.

Columbus: OSU Medical Center Expansion
Toddguy replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionJust counting the floor levels up on the core/shafts and how much is left just shows how huge this building will look and how dominant it will be. And I LOVE IT!!!! I love it sooo much! lol. It's like what I imagine crack is like to a crackhead when I see stuff like these pics! *looks at pics and inhales deeply* Keep the pics and updates coming folks! We need our construction crack/porn!

Columbus: Downtown: The Madison / 100 North High
Absolutely! There is no guarantee of a "view" for downtown buildings. A 'view' is not a right, something to be expected and accommodated by others. Certainly not in a growing city that is actively trying to densify and grow it's downtown. This is all just absurd and catering to some rich and spoiled individuals. If they don't like it, as has been mentioned, they can move-someone else would probably love that penthouse.* *Now I have the Green Acre's song part "I just adore a penthouse view" sung by Eva Gabor stuck in my head/earworm! lol.

Columbus: Brewery District Developments and News
The taproom is a nice thing, but the overall residential project? *sigh of resignation* They really can't do much of anything if or until they are willing to address the access issue IMO. One little road leading off Whittier is not enough for a large project-there should be two access points to the park and any development around it. Just 'meh' to anything there at this time-I think the original proposal with the 30 story building was always suspect because of the half-@ss way they dealt with where the second entrance would be on the north end of this, and now with the pandemic's effect on office space, along with the single access point, I will not expect much from this site. Also isn't part of it in the flood plain? I would rather they build up and develop the rest of the strip along and east of the tracks-from across from Liberty Place down through Lang Stone to Brewer's Yard. That would at least be right by Kroger and walkable to the South High retail strip. They could always build a pedestrian/bike bridge over the tracks to the park-a lot easier, more feasible(and cheaper)than an actual roadway bridge. Just my opinion of course.

Columbus: OSU / University Area Developments and News
Toddguy replied to CMH_Downtown's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionI will also admit that while the height cut is unfortunate, I like the look of this better than the original proposal.

Columbus: Downtown: Hilton Columbus Downtown Tower II
Thanks for the extra info and yes just a hotel would make sense.

Columbus: Downtown: Hilton Columbus Downtown Tower II
Also practically in the Short North too. And add some apartments/condos on top of the hotel tower, again using the existing parking garage, you could get even more height. Also it would have to be set back about 100 feet south of High anyway so it would not block the views from The Joseph. It just seems to make a lot of sense to go high there. Any amenity deck could be high between the hotel part and residential part and the traffic from 315 would not be as problematic. I hope some developer is seeing all of this as well. It does not get much more "prime location" to me than this. And nothing is lost but a parking lot.

Columbus: Franklinton Developments and News
What I would like is for them to not forget those plans for the two 30 story condo/apartment towers for the Peninsula. The views would be spectacular.

Columbus: Downtown: Hilton Columbus Downtown Tower II
Apparently many people at the time were not too happy about it. They were glad to get a bus over a streetcar, or better yet, a car of their own. Cities were seen as crowded, dirty, and suffering from 15 years of neglect due to depression and war-many people wanted the new-new housing, new roads, new cars, new appliances, etc. People went without for a generation and it had an impact. I have a booklet put out by the city in 1948 summarizing the city and the previous year, and they were almost gleeful in how they were getting started and going to get rid of the streetcars and add busses instead. At least when I have talked to people who are old enough to remember it/lived it, this is what many if not most of them say.

Columbus: Downtown: Hilton Columbus Downtown Tower II
So we have this, Market Tower planned for a parking lot, Harmony Tower for parking lot...what about the parking lot on Goodale between High and the Parking garage? A perfect spot for another boutique hotel with condos/apartments on top...? I want that lot filled with something at least 15-20 floors.

He avoids the internet like the plague unfortunately. He does tell me about what it used to be like back then. Like another World really...streetcars, interurbans, no cul-de-sac subdivisions, golfing at the Twin Rivers golf course where the Spring-Sandusky interchange and the Post office are now. All kinds of stuff. And the only "tower" being the Leveque. Apparently High street all the way up including OSU is almost completely unrecognizable to him now. He was working as a paperboy(the old fashioned kind selling them on the street)when the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor. He likes this new tower btw to be on topic.
