Ohio Census / Population Trends & Lists
Performed poorly compared to what? We did better than we were projected to have. We improved from the 1.6 percent growth from 2000-2010. Look at jonoh81'a projection earlier this year. His high end was 11,800,000-which is almost exactly where we are at. I guess I am trying to look at it in the positive "glass half full" kind of way(instead of my usual "the glass is half damn empty!" )lol.

That is still a higher level than Ohio was in growth for 2010, so it is better than ten years ago.

Ohio Census / Population Trends & Lists
Your high end estimate was less than 600 people off. The state nearly exceeded your high end projection which is very good news for the state.

Columbus: Population Trends
I can't wait for the 2020 census data for Columbus and Central Ohio and it sucks that it is delayed and all. Does anyone know the timelines for the release of the various parts?

Columbus: German Village / Schumacher Place Developments and News
Toddguy replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionThey should make the retail space a seafood restaurant called "The Whale". Or maybe "Ahab's". They could give it a Nantucket feel and all.

Columbus: Franklinton Developments and News
I am just glad they have an observation deck and an amenity deck as well as saving the front of those buildings. If they could have a front deck on the roof of those, that would be very cool and this building would be setting a standard there. It looks like the roofline will align with one of the parking decks rather than the base of the first habitable floor though. If they did manage anyway to do something about activating the front roofs in some way(even as just greenery)it would make this building hit on almost all levels. And look at all that land along Broad between this proposal and Gravity 2....you can't help but wonder, right?

Toddguy replied to CMH_Downtown's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionUnless it is really in danger of falling apart, it should remain until there is a viable proposal with backing. Just how is it a "danger and a liability"? And wow it will add a whole whopping 7 parking spaces. smh.

Ohio General Assembly
This damn bill had better fail.

Toddguy replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionWell the existing taller building around the park is 6 floors, and the proposed one on the other side of the park is 6 floors, so six floors would sort of match what is there and what is being added...just saying and all... They can go five wood over 1 concrete with parking under it. Maybe they could have some spillover parking space set aside in the garage right behind this if they add more units? The garage is right there directly across Oak street? At some point they are going to build another garage for employee as well as new resident parking anyway, right? They should make the most of it-there are few areas where you can look over such a beautiful park. I think anything added that is adjacent to any part of the park should be at least 6 floors. It will provide a bit of enclosure and intimacy for the park without being too tall or foreboding feeling. Anything less is wasted opportunity. I can imagine people would love to live right next to this park and within walking distance of so many amenities.

Columbus: Downtown: Lower.com Field / Astor Park
Someone should find a way to send these great pics to Precourt, especially the ones where the skyline is visible through the southeast opening...since his stadium will not have this since it is so far away from downtown Austin basically stuck out in a low rise suburbanish commercial zone.

Delaware County: Developments and News
Toddguy replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionThe densities proposed are for a selected area otherwise known as a node. They vast majority of the township will not be a part of this. By having nodes of density you can increase the density overall but leave most of the area at the limits defined in the plan. This just seems like "preserve our rural heritage' while being in one of the fastest growing areas of Central Ohio= NIMBYism.

Delaware County: Developments and News
Toddguy replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionRebuilding or improving and existing interchange is different than building a completely new interchange. Just sayin' and all. And the upgrade was needed as way more than 1,000 jobs have come since the rebuilding of the 29 interchange, the work on the 142 interchange, and the realignment of 29 with 40, not to mention the traffic circles added into the interchange. I am not saying that a new interchange is not needed there, just saying that a whole new interchange is a bit different than upgrading an existing one. If the growth is coming anyway and it reduces congestion, meh...100 million is nothing in roadwork dollars anyway. ODOT loves to spend-it will just go somewhere else.

So we will have this 15 floor building, along with the 12 floor Gravity 2 building and the 12 floor building for the next part of the River & Rich street development. Are there any other highrises in East Franklinton that are proposed that I am missing?

Toddguy replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionSo what does this mean?-is Pizzuti giving up, delaying, or what? They had better go ahead and build that-they got the approval already right? I hope they come back with an even more dense proposal. Why give in to these ridiculous lying NIMBY's??? Covid related delay? Some other temporary reason? Or is this a sign of defeat? Is to much being read into this and should we just wait for something issued from Pizzuti directly? *I am not on facebook so can't see the linked page.

Columbus: Downtown: Lower.com Field / Astor Park
Yeah the area was more than bit scummy and very desolate at night...but still...RIP Herbie's-the first LGBT bar I ever went to. There was a sh#tload of gravel lots and tracks through that area. A part of the facade either in place or relocated would have been the only part possibly worth saving IMO for historical purposes(and a memorial as well IMO).
-
Columbus: Downtown: Lower.com Field / Astor Park
Because it is referring to the Penitentiary, which was a horrible place overall IMO and the scene of one of the worst building fires in US history and by far the most deadly in Ohio(over 300 dead-the vast majority in for rather minor or petty crimes-not awful violent ones). It was old, foreboding, and falling apart and was as an ugly symbol of decay that to me matched it's ugly past. I remember it well as I sometimes parked next to the walls-which a stretch of collapsed onto parked cars at one point. It was ugly in just about every way to me, and the only reminder of it's existence should be a memorial to the victims of the disaster that happened there as far as I am concerned. If they had saved a small portion for that purpose I would have been fine with that. YMMV, of course. And we all know about opinions too-yours is fine, just different than mine. *It was also explained why they chose the name when they announced the name. Astor Park, Confluence Park, Arena West, Haslam Heights, Precourt-sucks-ville, I don't care what it is just about anything would be preferable over "Pen West" to me. I hope this answers your questions. 🤝

Columbus: Downtown: Lower.com Field / Astor Park
And Astor Park has put the final nail in the coffin for the chance of any development in the area to have the awful name of "Pen West"... One of many wins in this situation.

Columbus: Clintonville Developments and News
Toddguy replied to Summit Street's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionEspecially since this development was designed so it would not need Clintonville approval. Something even taller and denser that would also be built on the southern part of the parcel would be great.

Columbus: Crime & Safety Discussion
You are correct. We are on track for a record bad year-significantly worse than last years dismal record. We are not the only city experiencing this and I don't know why it is happening really and I have no idea of how to stop it.

Columbus: Downtown: Lower.com Field / Astor Park
Can you give some insight or link to some news or something regarding any problems? I am so glad we got rid of that worm! And yeah, everyone counted us out(they are gonna lose their team!!!!!)and now we won it all, are getting a new nice stadium, and are free of any Precourt nonsense-we won big! Cbus and Cincy are also going to have such a nice rivalry going-and it will help both teams as well.

So will anyone step up for the naming rights to the stadium? Nationwide Arena and Huntington Park actually do not sound bound at all. I hope we can get a another fitting name for our stretch of Professional sports along Nationwide.

Wish there was a way we could bombard Precourt with pics of how nicely the stadium is coming along... especially the ones with the skyline showing through the gap.
