Cleveland Browns Discussion
I really have always hated Baker, but have tried to suppress it. I don't like his (apparent)personality, I do not like the way he has behaved himself. It is less a performance thing and more a personality thing. I am just acknowledging it. And I don't blame him for what happened...bad throws happen-he hardly could have predicted that it would end up that way. I tolerate him though and will continue to tolerate him. Honestly he never has seemed able to connect with OBJ in any way so I don't think OBJ being out will make that much of a difference as he has not made that much of a difference yet. The rest of the team can get healthy and we will see what happens. I will of course still support the team. *and yeah I am still bitter about him with the flag thing at OSU lol.

Will he be done for next season as well? And Mayfield was celebrating this win...squeaking by the Bengals and with OBJ done for the season. I am sorry but I just hate Mayfield.

Grandview Heights: Developments and News
It looks maybe a bit better here than the last proposal. It is not as nice as the first proposal but it is inoffensive and unproblematic like this so I hope they can just get it approved and move forward with it at this point as you stated.

Madison County: Developments and News
Developers want to add 112 homes and condos, and 20+ acres of mixed use/undetermined use. A developer is interested in a roughly 20 acre site at the northeast corner of 40 and 142. The plans include stores, some office space and some apartments. Another developer wants to rezone a 27 acre stretch along and east of the railroad tracks that parallel 142 heading southwest out of town and between Converse Avenue and Garfield Avenue. This is a long strip that is surrounded by development and would simply fill in a blank space between the sections of West Jeff east and west of the tracks. 112 SFH's and 2 story condos are planned. This would be pretty big housing development for West Jeff, the biggest in at least several decades I think. No new news found on the other big planned areas east of 142 and south of 40(this is something like 400 plus acres and planned for over 1,000 housing units among other uses). https://www.columbusmessenger.com/new-development-could-be-coming-to-west-jeff.html

Housing Market & Trends
I don't like the white "blankness" that is so common. It has gotten to the point of looking clinical and sterile, almost an expensive austerity. Not a tchotchke to be found sitting somewhere, no pictures except maybe a small collage of nondescript stuff in matching frames in a predetermined arrangement. The look can be very soulless. I am always amazed at seeing the inside of someone's home posted somewhere and it is very nondescript furniture, often just a few oversized pieces, and not much else-blank walls and a lack of anything showing any personality or "sense of place"-instead of feeling or looking like a home where people live there is a sense of transiency, as if the people living there might as well be refugees. And this is not just found in places where people rent.

Cleveland: Random Visualizations & Massings
Just to put in a few fairly recent towers... Salesforce Tower in SF. is 970 feet to the roof(1070 total)and 60 floors so that would be 16.16 per floor. Devon Energy in OKC. is 844 feet with 52 floors for 16.23 feet per floor. The Comcast Center in Philly..974 feet to top with 58 floors for 16.8 feet per floor. 13 feet seems to be the very minimum for new towers and none of this is including possible spires or crowns either(and hopefully the SW tower will have both.

Thanks for checking. I guess the whole thing is a moot point now-we have a new larger proposal and it is fine and I am fine with it. I was just glad someone else mentioned what I had been thinking re: the old proposal. This new one is just fine.

That is a more than I realized.

Columbus: Downtown: Convention Center / North Market Area Developments and News
Toddguy replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionEven without that it still has a Soviet-instantly-aged look to it-it looks like it is 5 decades old. It looks shabby as hell and that pic of it looks to be on a sunny day too. How did it turn out like this?

Housing Market & Trends
This is actually a very cute house and really that upstairs could be a master bedroom with bath making it 3 beds and two baths(making the study downstairs into a bedroom maybe?). Too bad it does not have central air and heat. The kitchen and bathrooms could be remodeled along with parts of the basement maybe with not too much of a problem. 1,800 square feet is not that bad really for a small family.

Ok this is not just beige but very very aggressively beige! It is like they managed to even get beige into the darker colors as well like the beige is an infectious agent. And I complain about the whites and grays of today... Also why is furniture now like couches either very mid 20th century small and uncomfortable Danish Modern or huge overdone bulky sectionals? Is there no middle ground?

Toddguy replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionI can't believe they found a way to make a bare naked concrete parking garage look WORSE! Dang!

Columbus: University District: South Campus Gateway
I can't find it anywhere. But I KNOW there was a smaller proposal that only took the homes closest to the garage and left some of them on the eastern part of this new proposal. I remember looking on google street view to see which houses were going to go and even looking at the home #'s to determine which ones would be gone. Now with this proposal the whole block is going. ???? Oh well this will still be nice for that parcel and increase the # of units. Some of those houses looked ok, but nothing extraordinary and I guess this is progress.

Ok I looked and can only find the old proposal for the skinny building and the initial post for this on page 22 is behind a paywall. But I know I am not crazy and there was a proposal for only part of this site.

Columbus: Franklin Park / Trolley District Developments and News
Toddguy replied to CMH_Downtown's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionWell damn! I am glad that if it did have a fire, it appears to have been small. I don't want to jinx this is any way. At least they are moving forward on it so hopefully it is ok and will remain ok.

I also thought that some of these houses were going to be saved. I remember going to google street view to see which were staying and which were going. I was sure it was this site as well, and I was surprised by this announcement covering the whole block.

Columbus: Downtown Developments and News
It really is not that bad to me, partly because of what you have stated-it is not huge and will hopefully fade into the background. I did not expect much of anything with the Schottenstein name attached. Have there been any projects done with that name attached in any way that have actually overwhelmed? I almost am thankful that Millennium Tower did not get built-it might have ended up a cheap tacky looking mess.

Columbus: Downtown: RiverSouth Developments and News
Toddguy replied to CMH_Downtown's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionIs there still a chance of some artwork or a mural along the upper south side of the Beatty building? I wonder if they left it non-brick because they expected the 11 story version of this thing? This building itself is not bad at all to me, it is just too short for the site.

Columbus: Franklinton Developments and News
That island in there between the railways would be so perfect for a lightrail/transit hub. Not that I see that coming. But at least developing the parcel up to Broad(maybe even leaving the Warehouse building intact)would help tie East Franklinton and the Scioto Peninsula together.

Columbus: Franklin Park / Trolley District Developments and News
Toddguy replied to CMH_Downtown's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionLooking at some of these pictures I just think that this thing looks so susceptible to arson(looking at the wood on the side with the broken windows and all) and I am glad that it survived this long and is being rehabbed for a new use. This thing will be a great asset to the community and will cause no displacement-it is just a win-win. I am just so happy for this neighborhood to be getting this! We need more projects like this in the older areas of Columbus. Hopefully in the future and beyond Covid and with growth continuing we can see more projects like this in more areas of the city.

Connecticut Western Reserve
Sorry I was still not quite awake and somehow saw your post as "NEO bailing on Ohio" rather than just people leaving the state. My bad. And yeah, rural Ohio has way to much power in this state.
-
Cleveland Browns Discussion
*sigh*. They need to shake this off, try and learn from it, get healthy, and move forward.

Connecticut Western Reserve
I don't think that is going to happen. The rest of the state(and nation)would have to sign off on it and do we really see that happening? The Connecticut Western Reserve seems to be a fine topic to discuss, but it seems to have devolved to a separatist thread. And as was discussed upthread, how many people in NEO(not just people posting on here)would really be for that? Have there been any surveys, studies, anything to show what popular sentiment would be for this? Also has the same been done for the rest of Ohio and how they would feel about this? Actually I like NEO and Ohio needs it. We in the sane parts of the rest of the state need the liberalism in NEO. I would hope that we over time may be able to push the state overall more toward the left. *This upcoming election is huge though. If NEO goes overall blue but the rest of the state screws up and makes the state go for Trump I will understand (even though I know it ain't gonna happen).
