  1. I would hope that when that lot is developed it will be a project that would have a bare minimum of 15 floors. Hopefully more. That lot could be developed with at least a 20,000 square foot building "footprint" if not a bit more than that. I think that space is about 300 feet long and varies from about 75-80 feet wide closest to High to over 125 feet wide near the parking garage. The parking garage already in place is a huge benefit. And they could always squeeze in another small parking garage for the Convention Center somewhere on the eastern side of it. I think it is a great location on High, adjacent to the Arena District and inbetween the bulk of downtown and the Short North. You also have the Cbus circulator going right by it. Also by being set back over 100 feet east of High it would not necessarily block the views down High from the Joseph north of it or the views up High from the Convention Center Hotel to the south of it.
  2. Yes that lot along Goodale is just begging for something like this-especially with the garage being right next to it. Maybe a combo hotel with condos/apts on top? Also right on High at the edge of the Short North and with proximity to the rest of downtown. Such a nice location IMO.
  3. Two are coming-and of those two, one is planned(Hospital tower)and the other is under construction(Hilton). I should have used a dash instead of a comma after the word "coming" in the post. *I don't think Market will top 100 meters, and I think Millennial is dead.
  4. Well that would bring us to 16 buildings over 100 meters(this along with the New Hilton Tower). 2 coming, one planned and one under construction-and we have not had one in what?-nearly 30 years. And I am all for it. Just hope Market Tower gets going soon. Plus I like seeing taller buildings scattered along 315 when I am driving up north. *This might be 100 feet taller than the existing one and should really stand out.
  5. Well good for the housing, bad for the church-I guess it is just too far gone. I guess any plans to incorporate parts of the church are gone as well. Is the new building going to be mostly brick?-is so that won't be so bad-especially if it is a different lighter color of brick. It will be nice to see East Franklinton with variety of styles and building materials which I think will allow for a more organic feel and maybe can accomodate more the various different "nooks and cranny's" that give urban areas so much character.
  6. This part is interesting. I don't remember any discussion about development in the area between the tracts. I also agree with making the parking garage a floor or two higher, and also having an activated green roof/park space(but I get that there are budget constraints and all with regard to the roof part.) I have a feeling the garage is likely to be pretty ugly as most of them are. Oh well-at least it is tucked in the back of the development-sort of exactly where I would expect one to be. Is this what they are calling it-"High Water Alley"?...kinda different. Sounds nice though and would be good for festivals, etc.
  7. I really really hope they can somehow manage to come up with some art piece to replace that CC statue that is really incredible and iconic. Something that is cool, beautiful and also daring and forward thinking, looking to the future as is the city. The best days of Columbus are yet to come. *That statue honestly does look kinda dark and foreboding. Good riddance to bad rubbish.

Thankfully a certain ridiculous thread was just locked-hopefully permanently...a very nasty unOhioan and unAmerican thread IMO. Juneteenth today-a good day to reflect on race relations in the US for white people and to reflect on the need for change and how white privilege and systemic racism work in America.

I understood them fine. We will just have to agree to disagree. Despite our differing opinions I think that generally we want to see the same kind of society in this nation(as long as it continues to exist) *edited because I don't want to be like that on here. It is just a message board and is not that serious.

So most of the number of fair minded progressives and moderates in urban parts of Ohio reside in the Western Reserve area? Really? I am done talking with you/posting in this thread. I think this is the best thing for the both of us-and what you seem to want is now what I think I want. *You will never get your own state nor join Connecticut. If there is any split among the states, you will be lumped in with the rest of Ohio most likely-yeah I did check maps online on this topic and did not just cherry pick the ones that I liked-I looked at them all and most show you will be with the rest of Ohio so you will deal.

This is about The Reserve-your post starting this topic was primarily about NEO either becoming a new state or joining Connecticut and that is what we are talking about-how would that come about, etc. Don't try and say "this is just about the historic area that was called the Connecticut Western Reserve" when you own first post starting this topic was mostly about separation from the rest of Ohio. You made the thread and set the tone for it with your first post. Own up to it.

@KJP It looks like you think this "Big Split" is inevitable, so are you saying that you would be in favor of forced relocation of people from NEO who you deem "undesirables" or as you put it "diseased populace"?
  13. Toddguy replied to a post in a topic in City Discussion
You are just musing/fantasizing about this right? Because if not(if you are even considering that what you are talking about has any chance of becoming reality)then this is just crazy talk. And "diseased populace" is kind of like Cheeto's hate speech and "want the fascists to flee" and "leaving us with the same people" is similar to Hitlerish talk of ethnic/political/religious/cultural cleansing right?

So do you think mom even wants you back-even in the basement? Does Connecticut want Cleveland, Ohio to become Cleveland, Connecticut? It just seems kind of foolish to discuss this when there is no input from Connecticut. It is different than saying NEO should be it's own state of say Western Reserve. So again what does Connecticut think about this idea? Do I need to go to some Connecticut forums to find out? Interesting how the original articles(Cleveland.com) that got this thread going were musing about an independent state of Western Reserve, not NEO as part of Connecticut. Would NEO be better off as a separate state or does it need to combine with another existing state? Should the rest of Ohio just split up and join other states as well? Why does Cleveland get to escape being lumped in with Cincinnati while Cbus gets stuck with it?(just kidding Cincy posters! lol)

What does Connecticut think about all of this?
  16. Apparently the development is called "Industry Columbus" from the article in CU. I did not know. https://www.columbusunderground.com/long-street-project-set-for-spring-opening-bw1 I like "The Denver Project" or "The Denver" better lol.
  17. ^^ I did not realize he was that old.
  18. Don't mention stuff like that! Now I will never be able to unsee them either. lol Now that is the first thing my eyes go to. The section that is 3/4 of the way north on this looks good(just north of the pool). The section just south of the pool looks so cheap and wavy that they might as well have gone with the full crumply can/paper bag Gehry look.
  19. The lightness of the materials on the Denver project(can't remember what it is called)will be a nice contrast to the relatively darker colors of The Normandy and The Neilston across the street.
  20. Is the interdisciplinary Research Facility alone going to be 305,000 square feet as the article stated or will that include any other buildings like the Energy Advancement and Innovation Center? I guess I am asking if you know whether or not the 305,000 square feet will be for both buildings shown in the red area?
  21. Does it have an activated rooftop? With that blank wall there it would be perfect spot for murals, art, trees, outdoor spaces, etc.-but I am sure this is not happening. A lost opportunity. That blank wall does not have to remain a blank wall.
  22. I hope that somehow someone with power, money, and connections manages to get a 30 story tower built right next door on the site of the mini-mall. Just. for. spite.
  23. Especially when the colors are taken from a 1970's kitchen. Mango and Avocado...really. Very Brady Bunch kitchen.
  24. Good! This will mean that it will be at least 328 feet from ground level and be the 15th building in Columbus over 100 meters tall. We have not had another one in over 25 years I believe.
  25. ^^ "light and air"?? Good Lord the thing is 5 floors and probably less than 75 feet high. Not exactly a highrise we are talking about here. I hope it gets the variances it needs.
