Grandview Heights: Grandview Yard
Toddguy replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionWell I would hope that these would be for mostly childless people-empty nesters, singles or couples with not kids, etc. It looks like there is just enough space for a small courtyard so small gatherings maybe? And as for the snow, You don't expect them to just pile it up there, do you?-they will scrape it up and haul it off to dump it somewhere on the west or south sides/s

Columbus: OSU / University Area Developments and News
Toddguy replied to CMH_Downtown's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionI would accept a 5 over 1 if they increase the height of the proposed hotel so it would stand out as sort of a visual landmark. If not, this being taller would mess that all up.

Toddguy replied to CMH_Downtown's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionI love it, and I am sure Columbia Heights Methodist Church (the larger property directly to the north of the soon to be "transient" villages)will LOVE it/s (I have my own bone to pick with them so this is alllll good!! )

Columbus: Downtown Developments and News
I wish they had enough foresight with the way we have been growing to realize they could have squashed down a skinny 60 story tower into a 15 story tower site and had still been alright. The size of the lot meant this could have been an important node with mixed uses and contributing much more to downtown than it is. I hope they don't make the same mistake on other large lot sites like the Greyhound site. *although, of course, the skinny 60 story tower would have been awesome beyond belief but we are not there yet. *we need more outside developers with deeper pockets and more greed=more risk taking. *"that awful place on High" should not be mentioned unless absolutely necessary.

Columbus: Downtown: RiverSouth Developments and News
Toddguy replied to CMH_Downtown's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionWell I don't think that is going to happen and that lot should have something larger than this. But saving/storing the facades is something that is at least feasible and maybe it should be something we can ask for that is at least within reason(as in other cities have done this).

Well having to build a 40, 50, or 60 floor office tower would be awful, wouldn't it?/s

Columbus: Downtown: RiverSouth Developments and News
Toddguy replied to CMH_Downtown's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionIt is too bad that they cannot remove the facades, store them, and use them as part of another downtown project.

Columbus: Downtown Developments and News
This is all just a reminder of how the Nicholas should have been 10-15 floors or more. Oh well. At this point anything left on High should be 15 floors minimum.

Columbus: Downtown: RiverSouth Developments and News
Toddguy replied to CMH_Downtown's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionI wish it had a taper but I like it. Bye facades...sorry but this looks really good. And recessed balconies! It is bold and unusual for Cbus and will really stand out. If we can only drag a little more height out of it.

Columbus: Downtown Developments and News
I was just fooling around and am going to celebrate the impending conversion by mowing my lawn and finishing my mulching. We should start speculating on the number of units, and how many cycles of historic tax credits it will go through before getting any? I say 175 units, and two cycles rejected, third time is a charm.

A major announcement like this and where are the Cbus forum members? *taps foot impatiently*. It has been deserted this week. *shame! shame!

Columbus: Downtown Developments and News
Great...but where are the wealthy people going to park?? lol I can't even remember which building this is...the 25 floor-ish older one(around 1965)or the old Borden Building?(I think it is the former). *Convert this old office space into residential towers and build new class A office space when/if needed.

Columbus: Random Development and News
Toddguy replied to Summit Street's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionIn the solar farm in Madison County thing they are wrong. There is an abundance of cropland in Madison County-over 400 square miles of it-and a good amount of what is being lost to this solar farm is not in use as farmland. Also, once these panels are in they are in. They will not need the soil disturbing care that planting crops causes, nor will they be draining pesticides into the Darby Creeks. The land around the creeks should be de-comissioned from farming as that activity near the creeks is problematic for them. I say this as someone who can walk 200 yards and be in one of the Darby Creeks. I had this same discussion with that David guy that used to post here. And lets not forget the benefits of renewable energy. The other point-about not placing them on surface lots that can be developed, is a better argument, especially considering using them in denser urban areas. *This solar farm will be about the same size as the city of Upper Arlington I believe-about ten square miles or so?

Columbus: Italian Village: Jeffrey Park Development
Toddguy replied to Summit Street's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionExcept for the lack of a playground, it looks like it will be a nice little park. More leisure paths upon which people may stroll.

Columbus: Population Trends
I am about five minutes in. *skip around 9.30 they show Harmony Tower and act like it is still possible *cries* Ok I loved when he called out German Villains and "The Whale" lol my favorite part. I thought it was very insightful and worth the watch. Too bad he had to condense things though and skip parts-like how the far west/southwest side is the most diverse part of the county-he cut right off of that. And in a way showed class bias-the west side is "skippable" because nobody cares about westsiders. JMHO. Not blaming him-he had to cut somewhere. Just sayin'

Can you summarize it/Cliff Note it? *for others, I will of course listen to it.

Urban Trees
B#^%h! And I wish to God I had never mentioned that damn sign. I am going to carve that sign out of a chunk of silver maple devil wood and then burn it in a ceremony to doom. that. sign. (plus bring about some disease that kills all silver maples everywhere forever.)

Madison County: Developments and News
I always thought it could be denser but Evans Farm is light years ahead of the sprawly hell that is so common around the suburbs/exurbs.

Fertility Rates
Even if there are a million of them that just means that there are 334 million other people here who are not "nannies". I never knew anyone who had one, but people with higher incomes do use people in positions that really are more like real jobs(part or full time)and they really can't be thrown in with "babysitter". At the same time I am sure they are not all like Fran Drescher or something like that. There is a gradation that exists, where to draw the line? *I had a great babysitter and she still lives across the street from where I lived and I just visited her last week. We fight about politics and then just laugh it off. On topic, will you breeders please start pushing out some more spawn? You will find a way to get by financially-"hard times is good for people"(Joan Crawford quote, best mother evar.)

Columbus: Near East Side / King-Lincoln / Olde Towne East Developments and News
Toddguy replied to Summit Street's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionTrue but it is a good thing that they backed off of it. They are used to getting their own way being such a behemoth and all.

nanny. noun. nan·ny ˈnan-ē : a woman who is paid to care for a young child usually in the child's home. They don't have to live there 6 days a week, but they need to be more ongoing and intensive than a babysitter IMO. I am laughing at the great nanny debate! :)
