Ohio Census / Population Trends & Lists
The 3 million was never for our metro area but for greater Central Ohio-more like our CSA than our metro. And the CSA is already a bit over 2.5 million. Apparently there is some confusion even among the Central Ohioan's about this. I don't think adding 450,000 in 30 years is completely unrealistic. The CSA has added about 200,000 people in the last 8 years according to estimates. Also natural increase is much higher in Central Ohio than in other parts of the state because of a younger population-younger than the national average. Even if that decreases and in-state migration decreases we should still be fairly close to 2.8-3 million(unless something drastic happens as we have seen in the last couple months.) https://www.morpc.org/news/central-ohio-population-to-reach-3-million-by-2050/ *Also everyone forgets there is a thread for Cbus and Central Ohio population talk: https://forum.urbanohio.com/topic/15661-columbus-population-trends/page/7/#comments

US Economy: News & Discussion
So with another 5 million unemployment claims and 13.5 percent of workers unemployed in the last 4 weeks that means the unemployment rate is now at 17 percent? Damn. I know there is light at the end of the tunnel, but the tunnel needs to be as short as possible.

New York City: Developments and News
Will they keep construction going on this since it includes a good number of affordable units? I think I read somewhere that construction will continue or buildings with affordable housing in them?

If there is a second or third wave it may not...we really don't know at this time. I hope they get to play though.

Columbus: Downtown: RiverSouth Developments and News
Toddguy replied to CMH_Downtown's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionToo bad it lost a third of it's height(among other things)but it does cover up more of the blank wall of the blank wall it is next to than I thought it would. Wonder what it will look like when done? Lost opportunity but trying to be glass half full here.

Damn I need a haircut and I am really tempted to just take my beard/goatee trimmer and just run it all over my head-so what if it looks like hell..these are extraordinary times and I am sheltering in place anyway. Plus it will grow back out and when I do have to go out maybe it will give some people a laugh, right?

Home Improvement Projects
We have to support our state companies at this time. They made the choice to stay in Ohio and we should continue to support them.

I HATE the second tallest building in Perth-Brookfield Place(the shiny twin looking thing with the top cut off in this photo left of center). Horrible looking building that kind of ruins Perth's skyline for me.

*sigh* McDonald's. ? We are all going to either get fat or get even fatter(me)during this thing. The fast food places will survive.

Well that is one of the most extreme distance examples to be honest. But you have a point.

Cleveland: Local Media News & Discussion
Cleveland.com is not even entertaining anymore since they took the comment section away. The crazies that commented were something else. When I checked it out I always checked at least a few of the comment sections for a laugh at the insanity-as crazy as the comments on Fox news-or maybe not that crazy. I bet some of those people stroked out when they could not post their inane comments anymore.

700,000 unemployment claims in Ohio due to this in the last 3 weeks. What would that make Ohio's current unemployment numbers?

Home Improvement Projects
Any home improvement projects in Ohio that will be using paint should be encouraged to use Sherwin-Williams paint. Just sayin' given the forum we are all on and all.

The density without the extreme height is amazing and I love how you can see some rooftop areas being utilized(I am sure having such a great climate helps), but I wish more cities had activated rooftop areas.

I wonder how long this all will last....I am really missing following sports in general-much more than I thought I would. Will there even be a football season this year? What do people think?

I was at Kroger shopping for my dad at about 11am and it was not crowded at all and the only major things they were out of were of course toilet paper and cleaning supplies. Strangely enough they were completely out of regular yellow mustard also. There was no line at the u-check or at the pharmacy. A Kroger employee had told me the best time to shop was between about 11am to 2pm and they seemed to have been right.

They did this with Ebola as well. I hope this really ramps up and becomes much more widely applied.

Columbus: Weinland Park Developments and News
Sad that they are so expensive. I know this is really petty considering what we are going through now, but I really wish they could have expanded the color palette of these houses. The colors are generally so bland and repetitious. I am not talking about "hey we need some neon pink!" or anything but really they could have a bit more color. My only real complaint-otherwise they are great infill. *And I hope we/the economy get over this in a year or two and these projects can keep on coming.

Are we referencing political, economic, and social incest here regarding the "city that shall not be named"? ?
