Columbus: Downtown: Lower.com Field / Astor Park
There is an article in the Dispatch today about the site being in the 100 year flood plain. There was something mentioned about the site being raised five feet that would take it out of that designation. https://www.dispatch.com/news/20200330/flooding-concerns-at-new-crew-stadium-site

Ohio Census / Population Trends & Lists
Actually the natural increase in the Cbus area is only slightly less than 50% of the growth so I would be careful about using that "most" since it really is just barely more than 50% Columbus has a fairly low average population(far below that of Ohio as a whole and even below the US average). There is an above normal number of people in the childbearing/family starting age group. Do you know what the percentage is for Cincy?

Real Estate Holdouts
Well that is what greed has gotten them, apparently. And some of these "build around" pics are astonishing really.

Ohio Census / Population Trends & Lists
Online...really...secure? lol. Well it is a nice thought anyway. Maybe with everyone holed up more people will be bored enough to think, "Well I could fill out this census stuff..."???-nah, just more netflix and video games probably. This is Ohio/US we are talking about here, right? ?

Given what is going on, while I am not pleased with the low response, I can certainly understand it-pretty low on most people's agenda right now.

US Economy: News & Discussion
This. I think at this point we(and most everyone else)are F%^&$d. Only silver lining is maybe this meltdown will bring about some serious long term societal economic changes-maybe we won't have to have a revolution after all?

St. Patrick's Day 2020
I don't drink anymore so what the heck do I eat for St. Patrick's Day? I don't have any cabbage...beef and potatoes? I guess I could use some green food coloring in my drink. You would never even know it was a holiday today given how every entertainment spot is closed. Damn F%$#ing Coronavirus!

Ohio Census / Population Trends & Lists
Good! Cbus needs it's college population to be counted.

St. Patrick's Day 2020
Happy St. Patrick's Day everyone. Did you remember to wear something green?

Ohio Census / Population Trends & Lists
I hope you are right. I think our cities tend to get undercounted enough anyway

Ohio Census / Population Trends & Lists
I can see Columbus losing 20,000 because of OSU clearing out housing.
-
Ohio Census / Population Trends & Lists
I agree-the last thing they need is an undercount. I wonder how they are going to work it all out?

So how much is the coronavirus going to mess with the 2020 census?

Columbus Zoo & Aquarium
well I think they are cuter than people, and also more dangerous on their own-given a one on one as an adult against a human without a weapon. They would tear us apart if we are unarmed. I am very different from them-without a serious weapon they are above me in the food chain. You as well I expect. Would you be willing to go up against a cheetah or a polar bear sans a weapon? I am also no vegetarian and I have no clue of why you brought that up...did your read more into my innocent little post than was there?

Columbus Zoo & Aquarium
^^ How can the polar bear and cheetah babies look so cute and cuddly when I know they are going to grow into master predators? lol. I think both are endangered ? . There is not going to be any Arctic ice left for polar bears to hunt seals from. Even Aurora looks docile in her photo ...and we all know she could rip us to shreds in seconds.

Columbus: Downtown: The Pierce
I was really wrong about this one. The red looks great. It reminds me of that red skyscraper in Chicago-not too big but a nice bit of color. I always liked how that building looked in the Chicago skyline(and I know many disagree). I like the bold but not too neon red look of this building. Bits of color in a downtown as ...looking for a nice word....."neutral" colored as ours is a good thing. Other good points.. -a good number of units in a fairly small space. -some height (nine floors) with apartments on top of parking. -decently sized units (749-979 square feet)-yes we need micro-units but we also need some bigger ones as well downtown.

Columbus: Clintonville Developments and News
Toddguy replied to Summit Street's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionI recently drove down High all the way from near 270 in Worthington south all the way through downtown and my God the Clintonville stretch is about the ugliest part. With all that ugly 1 and 2 story buildings and mini-malls I cannot understand the hatred of development along High. I mean even 3 story quality Wood co. type development would be hated there. I just don't get it. My 91 year old father recently made a similar drive and the University and Short North areas are almost totally unrecognizable to him-of course his memory of it goes back to the 1930's and all.

Columbus: Downtown: RiverSouth Developments and News
Toddguy replied to CMH_Downtown's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionWe are at nearly ten thousand now in the 2 square miles of downtown. If we got to that 6 square miles that Indy has by adding a mile south to include German Village, and another 3 miles north up to nearly Lane avenue, I bet we would exceed 30,000 easily. Some of these demarcations are very arbitrary-just like city limits are and to a lesser extent, metro areas. I think urban area populations are fairly spot on compared to the rest.

Columbus: Downtown: RiverSouth Developments and News
Toddguy replied to CMH_Downtown's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionYou have to be careful when comparing "downtown" populations as Indy has a downtown that is officially over 6 square miles!-compared to about 2 square miles for Columbus. Triple the size of downtown Columbus and I wonder what the population would be?

Columbus: Hilltop Developments and News
Toddguy replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionThe area between the tracks and the river is the Scioto Peninsula, and is officially part of downtown Columbus. Isn't there a sign or something on one of the railroad bridges that says something like "welcome to East Franklinton"? I may be mistaken on that, but east of the tracks is downtown Cbus. What I am not sure about is the division between East, West, And South Franklinton. Is it 315 dividing East from West, 70 separating West from Hilltop, and 70 and 62 separating south from the rest? *sorry this is a late reply I was offline for over two months.
