  1. I kinda hate that we are not getting hispanic immigrants. I wish we could get more of them. A certain elected official and his agenda is not helping I am sure. smh.
  2. I would rather us not be playing Clemson right off, but really I am just glad we are undefeated and in!
  3. Two things that stuck out for me: -Big drop in Haitians-probably because of higher numbers right after the early 2010 earthquake-seems like a big decline in new numbers-over half..probably due to recovery after the earthquake-what recover has taken place anyway. -We are not getting any of the Venezuelan diaspora from that nation's ongoing crisis. Great that we are getting more Asian and African immigrants-wish we could also get more hispanic/Latin American immigrants(like some of those Venezuelans. For Venezuelans Is it a matter of reaching out or are they just not coming to this area no matter what?
  4. I am not worried about any environmental concerns as we have seen at other sites this has been mitigated. What is concerning is access to the site-the road network. That seems to also be the concern expressed by the city-which seems to see this new proposal in a positive light. I hate to say it, but I would be ok with the city pitching in money to help-because improved access would help the park as well-it would be worth it IMO.
  5. OK the latest Dispatch article says that they are planning a bike and pedestrian path along the west side of the tracks to connect to Mound street. Is it going to be a path or a street for vehicles? If not this will not work with the transportation access they have now. This must be more interconnected(and yes I mean for vehicular traffic.)
  6. ^^ These new renderings are like porn on this site! It has a sort of European look to it. Like something you might see in Rotterdam maybe(minus the parking of course.) *If this gets built I hope it is just tall enough to in December cast a late afternoon shadow that would reach across Pearl alley and into German Village. ? You know they are gonna be able to see it from there...
  7. Seriously y'all I want this building to be preserved. Where are the preservationists/NIMBYS when you need them??? Someone needs to get Walker in on this so he can post in on CUfacebook and get the pitchfork and torch crowd ready if needed.

Well if he was a total a$$hole at least he did not portray it in his Mr. Rogers character and kept that stuff hidden. Plus back then there were no grubby tv shows and paparazzi to expose him either-much harder to get away with that now. He would probably be "cancelled".
  9. Here is when the building went up for sale: https://www.bizjournals.com/columbus/news/2018/05/25/law-firm-puts-downtown-building-on-market-looks-to.html It says it is historic..but is it protected in any way? Save the old Ohio State Life Insurance Building!!!!!
  10. Well damn when you put it that way I would have been all "knock that s#%t down!" In fifty years they had better not be moaning about how awful we were to knock down all of the drive thru fast food joints on High street!-what were they thinking!!!! lol *A better question would be is this building landmarked and if not , why? This is a nice little building which is appropriate in scale for pedestrians and there are parking lots galore around it waiting for development. It should be protected.
  11. Do you think it was worth preserving given some of the much larger and more ornate mansions along Broad(some of which should definitely have been preserved), or was it best to put up the(very nice)3 floor bank building(which obviously to me should be preserved now since they have that room behind it)? *it does look like a nice house although I can't tell how large it really was..it looks like it might extend back aways.*
  12. The Seneca Hotel is right across the street and it is 10 floors and almost ten years old and here we are stuck at 3 floors!!! Tear down that old dump of a house! Why can't Columbus keep up with other cities? *fist fight ensues between 1926 NIMBY and 1926 Development nerd*
  13. I wonder when that pic was taken...and in what condition that house was by 1926? I do wish they would have kept a few more of the very best old mansions along Broad. We have only a handful left.
  14. LImestone! lImestone! I am so sick of these limestone boxes!!!! And they demolished a beautiful old house for THIS! We are losing the whole feel and character of our downtown!!!!
  15. OK...this is MUCH better. ? They had better leave the older building and build behind it! That is a nice looking older building-really nice big windows.
  16. Any updated info?
  17. I hope you are right and they preserve the three story building...if not at least maybe something like on Park Street where they keep the front. It does not go back far but keeping it and getting a 3 floor garage behind it will be a tight fit IMO. If they had the parcel behind it as well(010-035143)it would have no problem fitting in. Weird since that parcel flows right into the other in the same parking lot. I would never have thought it was a different parcel.
  18. Whatever happened to the 15 story proposal next to the Holiday Inn and the 14-16 story building at State and 4th? And then there is the Millennial Tower...seems like some of the tallest proposals for downtown are stagnant or dead.
  19. I don't know...maybe because it is winter?-but much of that is not nearly as impressive as I thought it would be. There is just something off-putting about much of it.
  20. Yeah I really don't see how it could be anything but at grade. I wish they would have a connecting overpass road from this to the Brewery District. They could have something go north/south to get the distance needed for the height and then have it go east/west to cross. That would really help with park access as well as access to the Kroger, etc.-a more direct route.
  21. I think we have at least five proposals that are not officially dead that are between 20 and 30 floors -New OSU hospital Tower -Market Tower -Millennial Tower -The new Hilton at the Convention Center -This new one And at least a dozen more that are 10-20 floors. Hopefully more to come!
  22. I think you are right in that this could be a problem-they are going under the freeway. Could they go under the tracks? Would that be not possible given the proximity to the river and the garage entrance? They could easily deal with the flood plain issue if there is one I think.
