Columbus Development Map
Is your map missing the 11 floor Jeffrey Park proposal? This of map of yours is fantastic btw. *Nevermind...it is included in the greater proposal.

I also really like the green roofspace on top of the garage. Not to jinx anything, but even if the tall tower did not get built, this would still be extremely impressive if it all got built at the 13 floor level. I would never have guessed we would have a proposal for anything close to 30 floors outside of the CBD boundaries or possibly the Short North(excluding the OSU campus.) In fact I think someone mentioned they would like a 30 floor proposal outside the CBD in the thread discussing the area around Riverside Hospital-can't remember which thread. This would look so great from 71 coming up from Cincinnati. It also looks very un-Columbus like...which is lowkey kind of a good thing

Columbus: Brewery District Developments and News
The Columbus Dispatch has some very interesting renderings of this project. These make me want them to build this whole thing NOW!-no waiting 15 years. And they show how pitiful the one floor warehouse will look if this is built as well.

People will comment with an amazingly low amount of actual information about the project(as in actually reading about it, asking questions, etc. ) ThEy ArE tAkInG oUr PaRkLaND aWaY!!!!

Columbus: Brewery District Developments and News
Are they actually taking any official greenspace(as in part of any park)away? I thought it was railroad land and the entire part of it is just now scrubland with some trees and is completely undeveloped? Even the road additions don't seem like they are taking anything away? Also if this whole thing gets developed(all four parts)I find it hard to believe that the one story warehouse and that whole property will remain as is-with all of that they would almost have to redevelop it more densely it seems. I wonder if they would possibly eventually make an eastward extension street to overpass the tracks and tie into maybe Liberty street or Short street somehow? At the very least a pedestrian/bikeway? With the first phase at 350-400 units and 3 more phases after that this will(if it all pans out of course, this is Cbus we are talking about ? ) *have to have over 1,000 units and I would think they would want a more direct connection to Kroger and the rest of the Brewery District even if bike/pedestrian only. *Thank God there is no Schottenstein name attached to this!!!!! And yeah I took a peek at the CU Facerant..Facebook page just to see the outrage.

Columbus: Brewery District Developments and News
I think for greenspace so close to downtown the torches and pitchforks would be out for taking away parkland-it would be extremely unpopular on a widespread scale and I think they not only understand what it means for quality of life but also for their job longevity. Once it is officially parkland people think of it as "ours" and that is very tough to overcome IMO. *Also you just know that this will include restaurant space which will be popular for anyone visiting the park.

Manhattan -- Waterline Square & etc. Fall Developments
^^ Great pics. It is amazing how some of these under construction fly under the radar because..well.. NYC and all. Is there any way you can ID some of the ones under construction(non supertall and all)? Plus I can't look at them without thinking which of them I would like to steal for Cbus lol. just a few... -11th pic for the Arena district south of that FBI building and between the tracks and NB condo building. -building with the arched windows(about pic 85)for just north of the Atlas building on High. NYT building(about pic 80)for next to the old Dispatch building across from the Statehouse. I like the building, the rooftop is not too tall to overwhelm everything but tall enough to take the eye away from the (ugh) Rhodes Tower, and with the spire it will be a supertall. ?

They need to speed up the timeline on this. 15 years? I want to see this done before I am dead!

Ridiculous Density
I have seen these type of blocks before and as long as there is some parkland nearby(looks like there is by the Sagrada Familia)then it would be cool. Also given the climate I would really like to see the rooftops activated as much as possible. Pedestrian wise those are pretty big blocks actually.-I would not want anything bigger. The corner cuts do make it look attractive from the air as well. If they had full alleys bisecting them they would be perfect. Ideally(if I had the money to actually live there)I would want a rooftop garden. I have read somewhere that the people of Barcelona really love living in these type of apartments almost like no other city...is that true?

Columbus: Brewery District Developments and News
I seriously expected something eventually along the tracks on the other side near Kroger but never expected anything on this tract of land. In fact I did not know even know it was not park of the park-I thought the warehouse/turned office building plot was the only part that was not part of the park. This is a complete and utter surprise for me-and in a very sweet way!

Columbus: Brewery District Developments and News
I love it! Would love to see the tallest one sooner I will admit. But this is great news!!! I would also like to see something stretch down from 70 between short street and the railroad...so close to Front/High/German Village/Kroger. Such an opportunity even if it is just like an extended version of Brewers Yard. How does Mound connect to the new street at the tracks? I know the new street will go under 70, but will the Mound attachment be at grade, or an underpass or what? The street connections will be great also for anyone wanting to access the park. *I counted 32 floors...just saying and all... ?

Cleveland: Downtown: Sherwin-Williams Headquarters
Well all of the info will come out eventually. It is just a matter of time, but it is hard to wait with a potential like this. But there is no choice really. I just hope the news is sooner rather than later, and that it is very good news-not just for Cleveland, but again for Ohio as well.

Ohio Census / Population Trends & Lists
The lack of decent mass transit is going to hit us badly it is just a matter of when. And if growth keeps up like it has been, it will be sooner rather than later.

Ohio Census / Population Trends & Lists
I have had two different responses to this kind of question. To unskilled workers who may be moving here from Kentucky or West Virginai to live in the "uncool crescent" and work warehouse jobs, transit is probably not a big deal. To college graduates from outside Ohio and international students when it comes to actually trying to retain these people, it probably matter more. Do we value these people equally though? No, of course we don't. We think(especially on a forum like this)that the college grads, etc. will be the next movers, shakers, innovators, etc. so we value them more. That is just the way it is. We being "society in general" and in a way, people on this forum. Regarding the general public, I think we overestimate how important RAIL transit is. The general public who are most interested in mass transit are the people who use it and they are mostly lower income and would probably benefit most from free public transit, BRT and better bus service in general, especially if it helps them get to employment nodes. What many of them really want, I bet, is to not have to use mass transit at all, but to be able to afford a car. Look at what has happened to LA regarding dropping transit numbers. The numbers dropped because many(especially hispanic)people were able to establish themselves a bit and afford cars so they would not have to ride a bus. For most people(the general public)mass transit is not the first option in most instances. The car is not as worshipped as it was, but it is still transport mode #1 for most of the general public. JMHO and yeah, this can be kind of an echo chamber in here regarding certain subjects. Look at Nashville-the huge transit plan they had was just soundly rejected and they have way worse congestion problems than we have. Same with Austin-our freeway network is way better and we have nothing like the congestion they have. Part of our problem is we have a lot of urban freeway miles and a good freeway network compared to many cities our size and that has had less of a discouraging factor for car driving and ownership But as jonoh81 has pointed out, with the growth we are having, things will only get worse and we need to be thinking about our increasingly congested future now and not later.

Ohio Census / Population Trends & Lists
I would think this would be less of a problem with recruiting and more of a problem with retention-including in state students as well. We are not talking about any group..we are talking about college and grad level populations. This I think is a problem with that demographic for Cbus.
-
Ohio Census / Population Trends & Lists
It is like at this point mass transit is a Cbus issue just like climate is-something we just have to deal with...something that is beyond our control. I would be very happy to just get a free-to-ride expanded bus system and some BRT. Maybe some expanded systems like the downtown circulator.

The Ohio State University Buckeyes Football Discussion
Already nervous about the game with TTUN. Our being number 1 going into it just makes the spoiler possibility nerves start to jump. I think I will watch with my Dad-he is 91 and fill fight and quarrel over THE GAME just like he always has....good times!

Cincinnati: Downtown: Fort Washington Way Cap
I just came here from looking at all the posts on The Banks thread and this really really needs to happen for Cincinnati. The Dallas linear park and the High Street Cap that were mentioned are good examples. A combo of both would be great. Cincinnati really needs to do this-it seems like a no brainer to me. Is it kind of so obvious that it is overlooked?-sort of like how Columbus was fine with the Scioto River downtown being a sewage sedimentation pond until they finally took down the low head damn and have a free flowing river with many acres of greenspace along it. All I can think is why did we wait so long-it seems like that here... it is just so obvious to me looking at it as an outsider anyway.

^^ I completely agree, I just wanted to see your response to that ?. I agree it is almost like he does this because he has been called out on it before. It is predicatable at this point.
