Madison County: Developments and News
There is barely anything there in Alton. Now the old New Rome would really epitomize the uncool crescent lol. I tend to think of West Jeff as part of the "greater" uncool crescent..sort of like Circleville. *Also overlooked Uncool Crescent areas: Urbancrest, Briggsdale, Brice, Edgewater Park.

Madison County: Developments and News
Well not that it matter much to anyone in this forum ? but along with the Amazon warehouse, two of the 850,00 square foot warehouses are up, and another about half that size. With Amazon, the expansion of Jefferson Industries, and these huge new warehouses you are looking at probably at least 2,500 new jobs(1500 Amazon jobs alone) I would guess. And all in a township(Jefferson Township which includes West Jefferson)that has just under 7,000 people...not too bad. *and West Jefferson has taken a page from mid century Columbus in that all of these things are within West Jefferson Village limits. They made the expanded Battelle site on 142 annex into West Jeff in order to get water. And they are continuing to work on the water/sewer construction across Little Darby Creek over to 142 and the new development that is supposed to eventually have about 1000 housing units-there are only about 1750 housing units in West Jeff right now, so that will propel West Jeff into city status and a population of what, 7500, 8,000? Hey, someone has to keep up with what is going on in the uncool crescent! ?

Cleveland: Downtown: Sherwin-Williams Headquarters
It could always sort of blend in regarding size and form and not necessarily materials. Just sayin' and all.

Cleveland: Downtown: Sherwin-Williams Headquarters
I do hope that if there is a significant tower it is built with some kind of tapering top or spire to match the other two tallest. I would really hate to see a box or a jenga tower. Something sort of avante garde and glassy would look good as a supporting tower to the Key Tower, sort of like the other two right there support it now.
-
Cleveland: Downtown: Sherwin-Williams Headquarters
There does not need to be a new tallest or anything like that for Cleveland IMO. You already have your historical tall building in the Terminal Tower You have a really good and very tall tallest in the Key Tower. This is a classic skyscraper IMO and is a really good focal point. Anything else should not be a new tallest but should complement the others in the skyline and help to fill it out around that group. I hope they really do it at this site and do it right.

Glass Block is Terrible
That house is horrible and the glass block is about the least of the problems! Yikes what a mess.

A win is a win is a win is a win! Maybe this is the turnaround point? *Cleveland wins, OSU wins, Bama loses. All is good.

Glass Block is Terrible
Yeah but it being built in 1946 might explain that-much smaller bedroom sizes then. If they cleared up the circulation/reduced the number of bedrooms, I would kind of like it. i have to admit i don't mind the front of the house and the interior entry. The garage does look plain as hell though.

Toddguy replied to CMH_Downtown's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionThis is about what I expected..maybe a bit more than I expected. This will fill in around McPherson Commons fine. I do like those photoshopped pics though. Maybe somewhere else west of the first 20 story condo tower? Just extend the line of these to the west? One can hope, right? I do think with how these have been selling that first 12 story building could have worked as the photoshopped 25 story tower.

These look great...but they are dealing with(I believe)1.8 million square feet of office space for 6,000 employees plus 2,000 parking spaces in about 6.75 acres. I would expect you are going to have some significant height somewhere to get that amount. Whether that space is spread out or consolidated more on some part than another is to be seen. Also the idea of open pedestrian plaza and greenspace means even less room for office square footage. I would think there would have to be at least one building over 100 meters, if not significantly more than that. I also hope if there is one building that stands out height wise, it is not a flat roof but has some taper or spire to it. *all just speculation at this point when it comes to what is going to actually be built in this space and all of course,

Columbus: Downtown Developments and News
Well I think with the land they are working with and the amount of space they need I think they will have to go big(at least 100 meters)somewhere to get 1.8 million square feet of office space plus 2,000 parking spaces on just those three parcels. I never mentioned anything about height or those rumors. Who knows? I just hope the architecture and design is good, they get something really nice, and it is very pedestrian friendly and interconnected to the areas around it. And I hope we get something similar(not necessarily 1.8 million square feet lol)but just something with some height and variety-I just hate the surface parking lots on the statehouse square. And yes, we are having all kinds of things to follow-The Stadium and village, North Market Tower, the new Hilton Tower, Gravity 2, the 12 story proposal farther down Rich in East Franklinton, Whatever will be built on the final empty spot on McPherson Commons, The Peninsula build out, etc. etc. * I am also just pleased that an Ohio city in not losing a HQ to some sunbelt city like Atlanta or Dallas or Austin. And maybe this happening in Cleveland will push Cbus to try to go a bit bigger...you never know right? ?
-
Cleveland: Downtown: Sherwin-Williams Headquarters
Well I would not want it to go anywhere else...we don't need Ohio cities stealing and poaching from one another and we do NOT need any more poaching from NYC, Chicago, and especially any sunbelt city. SW staying in Cleveland is good for all of Ohio. We need to support each other on this instead of attacking each other's cities. Save the attacks for the smug sun belt cities outside of Ohio.

Columbus: Downtown Developments and News
Well that is 1.8 million square feet plus 2,000 parking spaces on only three parcels totaling about six acres so I think there will be some height. "Going Big" in this case does not mean a supertall lol, but just another skyscraper to join the rest around the square here-as in not just 12-15 floors max. And yes I am pleased with the buildout that we should be getting on the peninsula as well. I am just going to be optimistic here. Why not? And of course just filling in those surface lots will be great. I just hope we get something really nice and appropriate here.

NO!!! waiting months for renderings to salivate over and all the ideas that will be floating around is going to be torture for you guys! lol. Hope it will be worth the wait! I cannot see how they don't go big on that smallest parcel on Public Square. Something at least over 100 meters.
-
Columbus: Downtown Developments and News
With that Sherwin Williams new HQ space right on Public Square per the article from KJP, I really hope they go big here too on the last spot on the statehouse square. Hotel, residential, office, etc.-just something worthy of that last spot.

Cleveland: Downtown: Sherwin-Williams Headquarters
Perfect location! Congratulations Cleveland! With only three lots, needing 1.8 million square feet, and with 2,000 parking spaces there are going to be some impressive buildings here! I think this could very well be more impressive than the original NuCleus proposal. A main tower right on Public Square would be great. I hope any designs include some rooftop greenspace-no bare naked parking on the top of any garage. They have so many options I can't wait to see what is proposed! A big LOL! to those "experts" who were all about Atlanta, Dallas, etc. *I admit I am a bit jealous but it is all good go OHIO! Please let Cbus get something like this too soon!!!

Just NO!! To the hideous Tower Fifth and Penn Plaza proposals! And a resounding YES! to 270 Park Avenue.

Cleveland.com Comments
Damn I had no idea of how toxic the comment section is on that site. It is just filled with old, bitter haters. I am a bit of an old, bitter hater myself, but they make me look like a damn saint by comparison. And my God do the commenters on there hate the Browns. And Cleveland in general.

Cleveland: Downtown: Sherwin-Williams Headquarters
I did joke about this but there is no reason that a color palette could not be introduced in some way in some form. Maybe in a glass sculpture garden or plaza or in some interconnecting glass walkways(if they have to haven them)to make them more like works of art than just connections. Also in different pavements, details, etc. I think they would have to be careful to not go overboard with huge areas of multi-colored glass in the larger buildings though. There are too many examples of that going horribly wrong(not necessarily just in glass of course). This can especially go awry with primary colors IMO.

Yes something that would look like a giant rainbow fan with a big rainbow plaza lol. The Pride parade and celebration could be held right by it! ?

Columbus: Short North Developments and News
Toddguy replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionI remember thinking how out of place that strip center was way back around 1985, when that restaurant at the corner was the Toll House Inn(when I was friends with a waiter there and got to eat free!!!! ? -loved to get blackened redfish or chicken). I just hate a mini-strip mall on High in the short North existing in 2019. *Is the forum running slow or what?-taking forever for things to load on this site.
