Yes, we don't need another Mariel boatlift. But it should be higher and open to more people.

Well I have to pay $2,000.00 to have one of these dangerous trash trees removed and half of another one taken down. A limb as big as my thigh came down causing damage again and now I have had it with them. I want to punch the person who planted these overgrown weed trees. Never plant them they are a crap tree that only grows fast, to quickly become a nuisance and a downright threat during windstorms. *and I still have to hope that my neighbors silver maple keeps losing limbs in their direction, as it is east of me.
  3. This is like a miracle or something...preservation...here? I like it.

Bring them in-so many are young and eager to work and build a life. We need them and I want to see the US population hit 400 million. We can absorb them-that is what we do best-that is our way, our creed-it is part of Americana.
  5. Well after calling out West Jeff, they are getting 150 apartments in a Redwood Apartment Community. https://invest.byredwood.com/deals It is listed there as 150 units and is located on the west side of 142 about a quarter mile south of the tracks next to the Life In Christ Fellowship Church. The site clearing is already ongoing-I though the church was expanding it's lot or something. The town just had to go and make me look like a fool! lol. Between this and everyone loving the Dispatch sign, I am done!
  6. When my parents would take us downtown I just did not like the look of it-it looked like some weird attachment clinging to the building and I never liked the braggadocious nature of the sign. As I got to be a bit older as a child I became very liberal like my mother and as we hated the conservative Dispatch(we liked the Citizen-Journal)and that made it worse. The sign is a reminder of a nasty paper that endorsed James Rhodes's attempt to cling to the governorship by demonizing gays and going that low end route-I remember the nasty slant the Dispatch had against minorities, gays, etc. The sign is a symbol of oppression to me. Now you all may have had different experiences and that is fine. People have sentimental reasons for liking it, but sentiment works both ways and I have similar reasons to dislike it, and what it represented for so long(The Dispatch and the Wolfe family in general were horrible in the 70's 80's, etc. and yes, I can remember very specific examples as well. *I really do aesthetically think it is a damn metal hot mess clinging to that nice old building like some tumor. edit* getting my voodoo doll I got 20 years ago from an old witch woman out for cbussoccer-don't make me put a curse on The Crew! ;)
  7. What I said is that the things they were getting right were accepting the growth is coming and making the best of it-as in not fighting it and trying to keep "transient" renters, POC, etc. out by not building anything. I was not talking about the actual implementation of the growth, but the mere acceptance of it. Two different things. Maybe I could have been clearer about that. West Jeff is about 98% non hispanic white, and wants to keep it that way with literally no growth-the town is smaller than it was in 1980 in population. Thousands of people are welcome to work there and pay into the tax base but are not good enough to live there. One consolation for me is that I live just outside the place, not within the village limits. As to your info, that is unfortunate that they are implementing things in not-so-good ways and practices.
  8. I am honestly surprised that not a single person agrees with me. I knew it would be unpopular, but not that unpopular. I have despised it since I was a kid. Go figure.
  9. Plain City approaching things the right way-realizing the growth is coming and making the best of it. West Jefferson, not so much. Heads buried in(very white)sand.
  10. I literally gasped when I saw it. And those homes next to it were in bad shape per google maps streetview with just a grassy lot between them. They look to be nicely restored...and then this thing appears. The Stairs! so heavy and massive. I wonder if they have a red carpet and rose petals to scatter when they enter or leave that way?
  11. This little group of buildings is great and it should never be torn down. *Damn, I just realized that was what was torn down. SMH.
  12. It is sad that for so many suburbanites/exurbanites, when they hear "apartment" they think "transient". It is like in the back of their minds they think the apartment complex will automatically go bad and end up section 8 with scary people living there. With Intel and everything else going up, demand will keep that from happening. And if it all just goes away in some kind of economic collapse, they will have far more serious things to worry about. *end rant* *hell I would be considered even worse than a transient by these people.
  13. I hate it and I hate the Dispatch. This goes all the way back to the days of the Citizen-Journal vs Dispatch. That sign is FUGLY!!! I hope a tornado hits Capitol Square and the only damage is that sign being torn off and swept away and dumped near Cleveland or Lake Erie or something. The sign is an eyesore. An iconic eyesore, but still an eyesore. Tear it down!
  14. This is probably an unpopular opinion, but now that they are not even downtown can someone take down the hideous giant Dispatch sign off of the old Dispatch building? That thing is ugly and makes no sense now-The Dispatch is a dinosaur. Take it an put it somewhere else if they like it so much but get it off of Capitol Square. *downvote away, the sign is still going to be just as hideous LOL.

Glad he won too. I never said the left extremists were equivalent to those of the right. I agree they are worse. But I can't really pass all of the litmus tests it seems to take to be a Democrat. Now who will I vote for?-almost certainly a Democrat. But I can still be dissatisfied with the party and feel it is not representing me.
  16. Fixed that for ya! Translation via Nimbyspeak
  17. Well we know who the bad ones are...how about some of the good ones?
  18. Look at it on Google Earth! it is 4 floors tall and all concrete!-building and lot. The fourth floor gives access to a rooftop patio-which would be cool in the right context. SMH.
  19. Just had to s**t on the uncool crescent! lol. But yeah, it is true-you should get what you pay for and for a million each they should be top notch.
  20. Oh. I edited my response. Thanks.
  21. Me neither cause it is about a 45 mile or more drive lol. I ain't got time or gas for that. Thank God for the photo updates.
  22. I think it was this part-getting investment, infill housing, etc. I don't know if the scale is the same or it will work on the Southside, since Milo-Grogan is right next to booming areas. We can hope I guess? *I meant to quote the article not your post but screwed it up. I am just glad to see the Southside or Westside get anything really.
  23. Those should be built closest to the southeastern areas and made to blend in with the existing housing stock. Now closer to Broad and the Encova building, I. want. height. :)
