Delaware County: Evans Farm
I think I may have been a little hard on this on CU. While the number of single family homes is about 2200, the total number of housing units will apparently be around 3100 so I saw in another article. They don't mention the other housing units(apartments, etc). About 1600 housing units in a square mile is not that bad-for Delaware County. That could be up to 5,000 people per square mile. I do hope some of the apartments will be relatively affordable(as the homes will certainly not be)so at least some of the people who might work in the service areas they are planning for the place might have a chance to actually live there as well. I guess it is at least a step in the right direction and better than huge houses on acre lots.

Columbus: Italian Village: Jeffrey Park Development
Toddguy replied to Summit Street's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionI hope they go with the 4 floors of residential on top of the office to make it a 14 floor building. Too bad they did not include a bit more retail along 4th.

Columbus: Harrison West / Dennison Place Developments and News
Toddguy replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionI bet the neighborhood will fight this like those others did that proposal behind High on Price. Maybe with the same result too, unfortunately.

Columbus: Harrison West / Dennison Place Developments and News
Toddguy replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionYeah this does not seem that awful so far. They are going to preserve most of the corner(Hippie Hut)building and the front of the Exterminating building and what looks like divide it up into mostly two sections with one being 133 feet high. We have no idea of what these buildings will look like. If they are trying to increase density and also try and keep part of the streetscape intact, I really can't blame them for that. If we can't have density along High, then we might as well give up on the concept totally. It seems like they cannot win-they either don't think big enough, or they are destroying the character of the neighborhood. *it looks like this company does nothing but student living boxes near a large university campus-their projects are nothing but those.

Name your top 5 cities...
Oh for God's sake! I was not really paying attention and was looking at the link that was a street in Linden! No wonder it looked so alike lol. Duh. Yeah those are definitely smaller lots and 20 foot wide homes like you said. I was tired earlier otherwise I cannot explain how I ridiculously mistook Homestead Drive for Compton. smh. Not a palm or fence in sight. Just make the lots and homes a bit bigger and take away the gates and bars and much of the forties and fifties LA sprawl looks just like that-and the same bland colors as well. And I agree the lack of green space in the LA basin is shocking. Lot sizes of 50 or sixty feet wide by 100 or maybe 120 feet deep at most are very common all through the 40's, 50's and 60's LA sprawl-Orange County too. Some of the newer developments (that are not for the super rich) have lot sizes that are not any bigger and sometimes considerably smaller-almost the size of those Compton lots. But of course the homes are bigger and cover almost the entire lot so at most they might have a patio and a patch or two of garden/landscaping and that is about it-and they are often absolutely dominated by their garages of course-which is a look I absolutely detest.

Some of those do look like maybe 25 X 30 foot Cape Cods-very similar to the original Levittown. Lots of those in areas of Cbus built right after the war in the late 40's. Lot sizes are maybe 50 foot widths? It does sort of look like a Linden but with better weather lol.

NYC: Hudson Yards
^^ Great pics posted earlier-you have a good eye for showing things off for the best. The Vessel looked pretty good-love the elevator. If rich people need a place to live and work, well it is better that it is going in over railyards and not displacing anything really. I like the idea of a skating rink in winter. Kind of reminds me of Rockefeller Center with the skating and the Xmas tree-the Vessel kind of reminds me of a high tech inverted Xmas tree as well. What are the lighting schemes for the Vessel? I also know that the northwestern part of the diagram is part of Javits Center-are they planning anything for that parcel they own? Also looks like there is a lot of underutilized property north along 11th. I guess that will go/is going highrise too? *The people in the pics you took do look sort of like "rendering people" other than that they are dressed for colder weather and maybe in a bit darker clothing. Hardly a fattie in the bunch! lol.

Columbus: Downtown: AC Hotel - Park & Spruce
Hopefully this will look ok once it is up. Maybe we will be surprised and it will be better than the latest rendering iteration(yeah I know lol). At least they preserved the front and side facades so it will not intrude so much on the streetscape. I wish they would go ahead with the rest of it-the office and parking garage.

Columbus: Franklinton Developments and News
Well I did go back and look at the thread on CU where the COTA stuff was mentioned, and if someone could verify that it would fall then at least under a vision, which would actually make it ok then for this thread. Anyway it is only really "borderline" off topic since it is about street improvements as you mentioned. I wish we could verify any plans or "visions" COTA might have for it. I guess it just lead to where it did sort of organically. The discussion is good, I just wonder if there is a better or broader(no pun intended)place for it. There is not a general "Columbus mass transit thread" in the Transit section-just separate threads for COTA and light rail, so there is no place for general mass transit discussion. Not surprising given this is Columbus we are talking about. *Wyatt is a CU commenter who seems to be against anything that is indicative of/goes along with growth in Central Ohio. Very "anti" but not in the lamentionish given-up-all-hope way, just in the annoying condescending way.

But the TRAFFIC by Hoover Reservoir! OH the HUMANITY! CBUS schools are TrAsH! but Gawd forbid they try to increase population in a suburb with good sCoOlS! /sarcasm

Columbus: Franklinton Developments and News
Well this is a thread for development and news for Franklinton, and there is no news regarding BRT or light rail or streetcars, and there is no development proposals either for any of these. It does kind of get off topic in a way. JMO. It should be in a transportation thread if there is no news of it or plans set forth for it. This is beyond the discussion of the bike lanes and road changes-that is news and a proposed development in the area. BRT and light rail are not. There is no news or development proposals for either. Everything is just speculation regarding BRT and rail-again, there is no news of it, no development proposals for it-see title of thread. JMO. And a commenter on CU is NOT news!-especially given the comments there lately and that troll Wyatt something-or-other. *Should be part of a Central Ohio public transit thead or something...will have to see if some such thing exists lol.

Delaware County: Developments and News
Toddguy replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionStill sprawly but not as bad as ten or 15 years ago. At least there is a good amount of multi-family housing and something for seniors.

Cleveland: Glenville: Development and News
As you posted: "I don't like old buildings. I much prefer new buildings" -- onetime Cleveland Landmarks Commission member and Ward 5 City Councilwoman Phyllis Cleveland." Apparently so people like this who don't like old buildings can set their stupid A**es on them. SMH! That is insane!

Metro Cleveland: Road & Highway News
Those graphics are hilarious! And the sex positions thing...yeah that would apply cause I know some of those intersections are a real Cl##$$$ %%ck. *The Harrisburg Pike, Central and Mound one for Cbus looks like pairs figure skating or dancing....how inappropriate for that filthy dangerous intersection.

Columbus: Italian Village: Jeffrey Park Development
Toddguy replied to Summit Street's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionWell I really hope we do see some eventually. I hope they work out any traffic problems, any noise problems, and go UP for those views. Maybe a buffer and a few floors of parking first and then build up above that? I have always hoped they would go higher for that "lower" portion of the land area.

Columbus: Italian Village: Jeffrey Park Development
Toddguy replied to Summit Street's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionI can remember when that area looked like Hiroshima-for decades actually. It amounted to about 40 acres of absolute desolation. Little by little, bit by bit, the city is filling in. ?

Columbus: Downtown: 80 on the Commons
LOL. I wonder how they compare to the views over the massive parking garage to the south? *Honestly though, I would live there in a heartbeat if I could afford it(it is not as bad as I have made it out to be actually I will admit.) Hey I would be in the one place where it absolutely could not be seen as well.
-
Columbus: Downtown: 80 on the Commons
^^ Maybe I am just getting used to it, but it does not seem quite as monstrous to me as it once did, especially this side of it. It would help greatly if they developed that surface parking lot across the street from the bus terminal so this building(and this side of it)could "blend in" a bit more. God forbid they should ever actually redevelop the eyesore bus terminal itself into something better, but hope springs eternal I guess. *shrugs*

Cleveland: Lakefront Development and News
I am not from Cleveland and I just occasionally check into Cleveland threads, mainly to see the new developments(congrats for NuCLEus btw)but I have not read through the 79 pages of this thread, so please don't give me any grief about bringing up this subject, especially since apparently it is a topic that is important or it would not come up all the time. Ok? If you would like to summarize the discussions, then do that. That would be the decent thing to do for a fellow forumer who may not know all the ins and outs of this particular topic and the 79 pages of discussion since I am not from Cleveland. *Has a consensus been reached about the airport, or is there very divided opinion? Anyone? Thanks.

City Data Forums
I don't complain(not much if at all). When things get out of hand there are warnings, and people either stop(like they finally did in the racism thread)or it gets locked. The "pruning" that goes on is a good thing too-even when my own stuff gets pruned. It is usually the right thing to do. *although occasionally it is best to just let the thread run wild-like on Skyscraperpage with the thread that turned into a lively mess about the appropriateness of wearing shorts, open kitchen plans, kitchens needing to be in the windowless basement of the house next door, etc.-that thread was hilarious.

Cleveland: Lakefront Development and News
WHY? Does Cleveland still have that airport on the lake? Is there any way it can be gotten rid of like how Chicago got rid of theirs? It just seems like a waste- an airport serving a small clientele that does not need to really be there and all of that lakefront property tied up like that that could be used for other uses-including much needed public recreation areas/parks right on the lake. This would drive me nuts if I lived in Cleveland. So much potential access to the lake denied. And it may not be the nicest lake or warmest lake, but it is still a huge body of water and is a great asset and should be used to the best of the community at large. JMHO.

NYC: Hudson Yards
^^ That interior shot is disturbing. It looks like some kind of endless human/maze/beehive/anthill. It is Orwellian, or like something from a mall in hell. The outside is so much better. It is amazing though how it all has been coming together. Especially when you look at the first page and the mess of a railyard the site was. Other cities can benefit from seeing how NYC has done this(one in particular that should cover up the damn railways through it's grand lakefront park, but I won't mention it.)

Yeah I was looking around the net and saw that. I am not exactly a huge fan of her work but I really like that one.

Dublin: Bridge Park / Bridge Street District Developments and News
Toddguy replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionWith all of that vacant land and massive amount of surface lots, this is the kind of thing that Easton should be doing. Such a wasted opportunity. Something like this at Easton could be to the New Albany area like Bridge Park is for Dublin. WHY can they not see this? What is wrong with Easton leadership? This kind of development is the future-especially in sprawled out wealthy suburbs. Of Course it would not hurt that the development, while serving the greater New Albany area, would be within Cbus city limits.
