  1. ^^ any links to any Austin groups that are opposed to any part of the relocation, whether it be about the parkland or anything? So people could encourage and foment discontent in Austin? I hope Precourt gets tired of the hassle and just sells.
  2. If downtown is so "hot" for developers, maybe they should start being required to provide a certain amount of "workforce" housing? At this point it seems we are not having to beg for development downtown right? It is a shame that affordable housing is being demolished for what will almost certainly be unaffordable housing for the current residents. Just more lower and middle income displacement that does not have to happen. As was stated previously there are perfectly good surface lots that can be developed instead of displacing current affordable housing. This is not the way to bring about a "diverse" downtown population.
  3. So what is the "bricklike" material that they are going to use instead of actual bricks going to look like regarding the Matan? Apparently the height reduction on the Beatty from 10 to nine floors will not be a big deal and will actually lead to more units.
  4. Seeing anything at all is huge news.
  5. I wonder what has happened with this one.
  6. ^^ Looks good.
  7. Wow that building is going to be hugely prominent.
  8. Build it now and to heck with what Clintonvillains think.
  9. Columbus/Ohio should promise them just about anything. -A huge chunk of land on the Scioto Peninsula/East Franklinton/"Penwest" and promises of interconnecting the areas. -Infrastructure improvements including light rail from a downtown site to the airport, increased coverage of CBUS circulator including the Amazon site and further north into OSU. -moving forward the new John Glenn International terminal construction. -Promises from OSU to work with Amazon in any ways possible. Basically all of these and what they have already proposed and more. If the city does not get it...oh well. Nice try. Next! If the city gets it, then it would all be worth the investment by all involved. Those spin off jobs alone would be worth it. If voters respond to anything, it will be promises of JOBS!JOBS!JOBS!!!-that trumps(sorry for that word)anything else in Ohio when it comes down to it. If you are going to go for it, really go for it or just get out of the race for it IMO. Columbus needs to compete not only with these other far large cities, it needs to compete with them as if it is already at the levels they are, or it needs to back out all together.
  10. Well it is proposed at over 400 feet so I want it *sigh*. I think the kindest way I could describe it would be by saying it is "charmfree" and completely free an unhindered by any aesthetic considerations. *Must think of the how it will function and fill things in instead of how this "Bertha" of a building looks*
  11. A view of downtown from the railroad viaduct? But I thought there would be 6-10 story buildings along the...oh yeah right. smh.

Done. TT went from 142nd tallest to 83rd tallest in the USA. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_tallest_buildings_in_the_United_States#Tallest_buildings LOL! Well hey at least the information matches now.

Someone might want to change the article in wikipedia about the height of the Terminal Tower in the Tallest buildings in Cleveland part-it is listed as 708 feet, not 771 feet, in Emporis, CTBUH, and on the main wiki page of tallest buildings in the US. (and they actually list Emporis as a source for this 771 foot height in the tallest buildings in Cleveland page) Just something I noticed. For Cleveland and accuracy and all. ;D
  14. OMG..their stuff is worse than Highpointe? Why did they choose this company? If they were not satisfied they should have just not picked any of them and started over. smh.
  15. ^^ I have been waiting for this one. I really like that they are making the street in front of this into a pedestrian walkway. I hope this is of the same quality as Neighborhood Launch.
  16. ^^ I wish they would do a taller building but I am thinking 7-8 floors and probably brick to match Burnham Square and the rest facing McPherson Commons. They have so many options after that-the land they have in East Franklinton, The area to the west where the Casino was originally going to go, and those scattered parcels west of Neil. I would hope they would put up at least one other highrise (15 floors or more) somewhere in there. That big grass lot is begging for development and would have great views I agree-they could even get creative and have something with a sweeping curved facade facing downtown rather than the regular square or rectangular boxes they tend to do. I can see that whole stretch of Spring between McPherson Commons and the railroad tracks lined with high rise residential-would look great.
  17. If the new garage has 325 spaces, and Park's Edge 1 and 2 have a combined 150 units, and you allocate 1.5 parking spots per unit, that means there are still 100 spaces available. With 100 spaces available, they could put around 60 units in the third building if you want to continue allocating 1.5 spaces per unit. If the third building contains 60 units, that would put it close to the 69 units that Park's Edge 1 has. Park's Edge 1 is 12-stories tall, but it is a long building. The piece of land available for the third building is a smaller square when compared to the plot of land Park's Edge 1 was built on. As a result, I don't think it's out of the question to think a 15+ story building would be built there. The garage is 327 spaces and is for the residents and visitors. I would think that with luxury units they might want more than 1.5 spaces as well. I really don't see them building anything over 12 floors max there, but I would like to be proven wrong of course. :) *also..there is this: http://www.columbusunderground.com/new-arena-district-condos-bw1
  18. Given that the garage for this buildout has what? 325 or so spaces, and they already have over 150 units in these two buildings, I would not expect much for the third building. I would not be surprised if it was just a 6 story continuation of the building directly to the north of the last parcel and would match the rest of the buildings actually facing McPherson Commons. Maybe they will surprise me after all though. At least when Nationwide decides to build, they build and build fast.
  19. I am going to have to disagree....that two story addition is going to look like a monstrous parasite has landed on the building.
  20. Well with three killings yesterday the city is up to 129 murders. I hope we don't break the 1991 record of 139. I really think this has much to do with drug trafficking and the Opioid epidemic which I hope has peaked(as was discussed above). And yes I also remember how the 'pill mills' were centered in Portsmouth and the surrounding area down there. That Dr. Procter was filth!
  21. It's too bad that it got scaled down a bit height wise, but if they actually build 1700 housing units, 800,000 square feet of office and 150,000 square feet of retail, it should still be a success. The northern part looks pretty dense actually. I would rather have the Millennial Tower and Market Tower go up than the two condo towers that were proposed here. Now there is just the part about getting that 'Cultural Attraction' for that wedge shaped piece south of COSI.... I wonder what could actually go there?
  22. ^^ I never said the trailer park was historically significant. And San Margherita is not intact because we are looking at the remnants. And thanks for getting the whole point of what I said by the 'one grape or fig' comment (/sarcasm).
  23. From that article it looks like that trailer park(with over 100 trailers) is doomed. Getting rid of the poor people so more luxury housing can be built, while virtually no new affordable housing is being built anywhere. smh. Hell they are getting rid of at least a third of what is left of San Margherita. Most of the houses on the south side of Trabue are going too. Disgusting. Just to put in another fucking luxury development while helping to destroy an historically significant village. I wonder if any of those houses still have the grapes and figs(they would overwinter them and they would survive). Just a damn shame. And nobody gives a damn. looks like 7 or 8 of the 22 or so homes remaining will be lost. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/San_Margherita,_Ohio Screw this development.
  24. i felt bad about hitting 120-until I looked at the rates of nearby cities and also saw that Jackson, Mississippi is at 59(about half of our total)-with a population of only 169,000!
