Columbus: Downtown: Millennial Tower
A height increase? Still have doubts about it happening. But if it does, at 330 feet it will be number 15 in buildings over 100 meters in Cbus, and the North Market tower would be # 16. Hope it happens...but WHY did they not address the parking garage wrap around issue????-makes me suspicious.

Columbus: Northland Developments and News
Yeah, no natural light or windows, 1970's color combinations... yuck. The last picture did make me laugh though...it is mango and avocado-just like the Brady Bunch kitchen! lol. Who picked these colors?

Cleveland: Population Trends
That study has both Cleveland and Columbus at 0% of the population in the CBD...behind Indianapolis, San Jose, etc. How is that?

Columbus: Eastland Developments and News
Well good riddance to the one at Westland. With Sears gone they can level that decaying dump and at least have a chance to redevelop something in that place and with all of the land available to do so. I would rather have an empty space that can be developed rather than that decaying hulk that is just a reminder of failure. Maybe something similar to what happened at Northland can happen now. At least there will be possibilities now. Great Western killed the Broad street retail strip... Westland killed Great Western... Tuttle, the closure of the nearby manufacturing plants, and changing demographics and retail patterns killed Westland. Time for something different. That is a lot of space(what, 50 or 60 acres?)and right at a major freeway interchange.

Ohio Census / Population Trends & Lists
Part of that article is wrong. Columbus did not 'grow' to 841,000 from 850,000-it increased to 860,000 and it moved ahead of Indy in the process. 'Columbus grew by 1.2 percent, or 9,771 people, for a total of 841,563.'...not correct.

Cincinnati: City-County Merger, Annexation, and Local Government Structures
Westland Mall is not in Columbus city limits and never was and is township land...not that it matters now of course.

Columbus: Random Development and News
Toddguy replied to Summit Street's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionI really don't think this small lot is that big of a deal height wise-the big parking lot just west of this is much more important and should get some height at least like in the Normandy/Neilston range. However the proposal looks very ugly just like the 8 floor proposal down the street. What is up with this ugliness(at least what is depicted on these crappy renders)?Crappy renderings make me suspicious as hell also.

Ohio Census / Population Trends & Lists
I live outside of West Jefferson(only because it is cheap lol) and I have Spectrum(ugh) for cable and home Internet and Verizon for phone. West Jeff and London have cable access for internet and don't need dialup. Also I have never had a problem with Verizon for cell phone service anywhere out in Madison, Union, or Champaign counties. No waiting for texts or anything. I know a few miles out of London they had no cable access though and had to get the satellite stuff for TV. I think the dialup is just for the rural locations outside of the population clusters-at least out here.

Columbus: Random Development and News
Toddguy replied to Summit Street's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionThe article didn't mention any ground floor retail. According to the County Auditor's site, it was built in 1975. The Columbus Underground article stated that the part of the ground floor not used for access to the garage will be for apartments. Who would want to live on the ground floor at that location? Ugh. They should set aside the ground floor for some other use IMO. And the other renderings of this do not make it look any more attractive. But it is better than what is there now.

Toddguy replied to Summit Street's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & Construction^^Such a good idea to 'line' the side of that garage with apts. I cannot see the article...are they planning for any ground floor retail?

Columbus: Downtown: Merchant Building
https://www.emporis.com/buildings/122091/edgecliff-point-cincinnati-oh-usa I had intended to say Edgecliff Point as Edgecliff is the older, shorter residential building next door to Edgeliff Point. It's listed here as 98.43 meters tall, or just shy of 323'. Unless Emporis is just wrong, but that's rare. This was the height listed by building management when I worked on a few units and two of the penthouses in it when I was in Cincy. Not that it matters as height isn't really that important. This project is sort of enviable. I really want Cincinnati and Cleveland to get a potentially game-changing development like this. It's more than just a tower, but an entire street-activating development that incorporates high quality design into both street level and the skyline. We need more of that in Ohio. Not that it really matters, but EdgeCliff Point is listed as 284 feet, built in 1990. The Emporis listing is an estimate. http://www.skyscrapercenter.com/building/edgecliff-point-condos/23352 The older one(built in 67)is listed as shorter. But I agree-all Three C's need more good proposals. I wish Cbus was getting a SkyHouse. I don't know why but I really like those.

Columbus: Downtown: Merchant Building
Miranova isn't the tallest residential building in Ohio. I know that at the very minimum Edgecliff in Cincinnati is taller at 322' tall which I believe is the current highest residential building in Ohio. This looks like it'll be a great project for Columbus. I'm still sitting back patiently waiting for demand in the 3 C's to really warrant a highrise residential boom. That would be something to see. http://skyscrapercenter.com/compare-data/submit?type%5B%5D=building&status%5B%5D=COM&status%5B%5D=UC&status%5B%5D=UCT&status%5B%5D=STO&status%5B%5D=PRO&base_city=1550&base_height_range=0&base_company=All&base_min_year=1900&base_max_year=9999&skip_comparison=on&output%5B%5D=list https://www.emporis.com/buildings/122079/the-edgecliff-cincinnati-oh-usa You mean this Edgecliff? It is not listed as 322 feet. I don't see any Cincy building listed at 322 feet.

Columbus: OSU / University Area Developments and News
Toddguy replied to CMH_Downtown's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & Construction^^ That is the cool little stretch of abandoned retail that people have wondered about for years. Good to see it getting spruced up and renovated. Do you know about the building directly south of it-is it being fixed up to? This stretch is perfect for neighborhood retail. It would be perfect if not for the gas station across the street, but you can't have everything lol. Are they going to put something in at the southwest corner of 11th and 4th?

Columbus: Victorian Village Developments and News
Toddguy replied to Summit Street's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & Construction^^Those look really good. They look like 'quality' and almost look like renders. More of this is needed, and in more places than just the Short North(and close environs.) Columbus can really get it right with some of these developments.

Columbus: Downtown: Millennial Tower
...and was this pic taken in December of February? They look good I think during the warmer months. If that is indeed a pic from late Fall to early Spring, then I am impressed. And good news on ANY news on this tower. Now what about theNorth Market tower proposals? *taps foot impatiently* *actually since I missed this first posting and I look more at it, I can see where this could look good through the year-especially if they did seasonal stuff on parts of it that 'browned out'. Breaking it up into smaller tall panels like this one would be good idea too. They could alternate panels with green living walls with other panels that had other things.

Columbus: Crime & Safety Discussion
Shooting at Easton http://www.dispatch.com/news/20170330/i-shot-her-woman-tells-police-of-fight-at-easton-pink-store Can't wait to read the Dispatch comments smh. Also Columbus is at 29 homicides so far...which is not so good for (usually)colder months of January, February, and March.
