  1. Although I havent been to Gypsy Cafe, I can second edale on how chill Andy's is to relax and hookah at, also nice with a couple appetizers...makes for a great small Birthday celebration :)
  2. There certainly is a Van Gogh, it's called Undergrowth with Two Figures, and it's on of my favorites of his work. I think it recently went on loan for a traveling exhibit though. Also, "The Red Rooster" by Marc Chagall is in the CAM and is one of Chagall's most famous pieces. The newly remodeled Asian and Islamic wing is definitely worth a look, but I do agree that the contemporary collection is fairly week. Maybe after the expansion it will improve? Edale, as my best Art museum visiting friend, than you for correcting that huge mistake! As a future Art Museum Curator, I love the CAM! And thats its Free! And that only a fraction of the Collection is exhibited!
  3. ^ edale...I cant wait either! :) And yeah the interior looks awesome! It seems really impressive at least from that picture that the restraunt is that close to the fountain.
  4. Those are awesome! It made me a little homesick...esp. since no where in Texas, especially Waco, celebrates Labor Day with Fireworks. I made a fool of myself and asked but people just gave me interesting looks.

"... but most of the action is in Kentucky. " that comment about killed me :(
  6. ^ That article I think is extremely well written and captures the heart of a place like a local coffeehouse. I love sitwells and It would really be a shame to see it go. In my opinion There is nothing like a chai there in the winter or after a movie at the Esquire.
  7. I actually wonder if it has to do with Cleves (I believe was an old provence like area in Germany) who produced Anne of Cleves who was the fourth wife of Henry the Eighth?
  8. Ah this makes me want to go look at the flowers on the square right now! But overall what a great day to be taking pictures it really makes for stunning colors. I am still in awe of the green of the grass out by Paul Brown
  9. There is also a book i flipped through at Barnes a couple weeks ago about Sculpture in Cincinnati. It was a really neat book giving information about sculpture you see around town, but never give a second thought about its sculptor or history. Its definately added to my wish list.
  10. hahaha I agree...a parking spot I can use to meet you and to then, go downtown and support the local business. I was in Tower Place the other night as a stop at my friend's birthday celebration ( sadly just to use the restroom haha). All of the attendees (all females) were absolutely shocked at how empty and depressing the mall actually was. They were definately not afraid of being down there, and I think that if it could turn around, a lot of people would go down and shop. A great thing would be if stores that did not have 10 other locations in the area could open up there, giving people more reason to go and shop. Right now, it makes since to me that places like Ann Taylor and Talbots would close, considering they have stores in almost every mall and outdoor development in the area including Rookwood Commons, which is relatively pretty close. I see potential, so maybe there will be better days.
  11. haha friday sounds perfect! and thanks again :) RV- thanks so much for the input! I just got a new camera so im trying to get used to it...ill post more later for sure.

  14. Im a senior in High School and I attend CHCA in Sycamore Township. We have a 2 week course after christmas called winter term, where everyone choses a teacher led course or trip. This year I chose Faces of Cincinnati where 20+ students are photographing cincinnati and its fabulous landmarks and institutions, with the goal of publishing a coffee table like book at the end. We are just 2 days into actual photography having been downtown, the zoo, and eden park/ art museum. I thought I would share a few of my pictures thus far. Tips are also appreciated :) haha wow that took me awhile to figure out!
  15. 2 Stores Leaving Downtown Cincinnati Last Update: 1/3/2007 8:38:33 AM Print This Story Email This Story There will soon be fewer places to shop in Downtown Cincinnati. Ann Taylor and Talbot's are moving out. Ann Taylor is leaving Tower Place... and Talbot's is vacating it's space in the Carew Tower. The Business Courier reports they'll close the doors at the end of the month. The stores are the latest retailers to leave downtown. Restaurants are filling in some of the gaps -- including the Havana Martini Club. this might be a repeat of something posted earlier but i just read it on channel 12's website. Theres always a sinking feeling when a local news headline reads "Two Downtown Businesses Leaving"
  16. I just reread the article in the newspaper, which features the quotes from those responding to the poll at the end. At least one mentions how much safer people feel in Indy. While Cincinnati does have its more "risky" areas that wouldnt necessarily be the best places to stroll, the fact is, many many cities have the places you avoid. Indianapolis Im sure has those areas. Honestly, I feel pretty safe walking around downtown, and my parents let me go down a lot to just walk and explore with a friend, and Im only 17. This perception just really bothered me...
  17. About the video screen...someone mentioned elf was playing and I was down both friday and saturday and they played a variety of christmas specials (the Grinch, Rudolph etc...) and the music image isnt that bad really...and its better than just advertisments or soundless news as I have witnessed before. I Also totally agree about the midnight skating idea. I have noticed that the rink is packed until closing on weekend nights everytime I have been down since it opened. You would get an older crowd that could skate without the huge amount of small children, and I see it being very popular, especially with the High School crowd. Now is it just me or does the Square Christmas tree seem a bit...dull? Just white lights...I think it could be a little more festive.
  18. wow I love the black and white of the fountain and the carew tower...what a great persepctive!
  19. s yup the non flashback scenes are set in Cincinnati good book
