What Would You Re-Name the Cleveland Indians?
I've always liked the Spiders. I mean who isn't scared of spiders? The only other college or pro that uses it is the University of Richmond. I mentioned it to Scott Raab (wrote the Whore of Akron) on Twitter and he didn't like it as we had the worst season in baseball history with that name - in 1899 we went 20-134.

Where do you live????
This should be an annual poll with the ability to compare each year, basically a census to track UO residency patterns.

Cleveland: Crime & Safety Discussion
^^ per the quote in ^, erocc was. just because he didn't say "black", we all know what he was inferring. Further, there were more comments deleted, from him, me and MTS, that frankly I want an explanation for. I generally prefer to stay out of the stupid debates here, but having comments deleted where I feel I am legitimately expressing a valid opinion is unacceptable.

Cleveland: Crime & Safety Discussion
That article really has some biased digs at Cleveland. The article states that the tomb is in the suburbs, but isn't it in fact in the city limits of Cleveland? I know that Lakeview Cemetery has Cleveland, East Cleveland, and Cleveland Heights portions, but I believe Garfield is in the Cleveland section. I missed the digs. IIRC, the whole cemetary is in Cleveland, but on the borders. The fact is we once actually had someone steal "in use" urinal cakes from the bar, so anything can be stolen. Fireball is very popular among the younger inner city set these days. I'm wanting to call this a gang initiation. I highly doubt that anyone in any gang knows or cares about Garfield's commemorative spoon collection. It's something that proves they were in there. Turns out I know the guy who the cops are seeking for the theft. White guy, early 30s, from Bedford and one of the worst d-bags that suburb has ever produced. Which is saying a lot. So my guess was wrong, though the "what would he know about the collection?" applies. The junkie angle doesn't make all that much sense, he's a dealer as much as a user. It's more accurate to say I know people who know him. He's one of the very few people I've ever had to threaten with intent. http://fox8.com/2014/06/06/police-id-suspect-in-break-in-theft-at-garfield-tomb/ How ironic. After being so quick to blame this on black youth, it turns out the culprit was a suburban white guy that you "know." Let this be a lesson, just because a crime occurs in or near the city of Cleveland, one should not automatically assume it was by black kids. Making assumptions like that are irresponsible.

Cleveland: University Circle: Uptown (UARD)
^ Sounds like I got some bad info! I mentioned it to my bro in law last night who is in the industry and he did say there was no way they closed - we'd have heard about it from local food writers.

Cleveland: University Circle: Uptown (UARD)
Someone told me last night that ABC closed. I was just there on Saturday. There wasn't a ton of people but I chalked it up to a holiday weekend. Also, I had planned to go to Cleveland Beer Cellar after ABC, but it was closed. The coolers were all full of beer, but they were closed - at like 9:00 on a Saturday night. Not sure if that is permanent or not, but I would have to think so if they were not open on a Saturday night.

MLB: General News & Discussion
blah blah blah classy blah blah humble blah blah you know what's humble and classy? not being a distraction! You do what they did in the old days - announce your retirement at the end of the season, or at least like in august or something instead of having a season long circle jerk

OK - so we drafted Manziel because a homeless guy told Haslem to and because Manziel told them to draft him? Ha.

Should be interesting to see the effect KW has on Howard Hanna. They poached some of their more well known agents. I heard one of the conditions for the agents to switch over to KW was that KW had to open a CH office - so kudos to them for that!

Cleveland: Crime & Safety Discussion
I don't know but if you watch any episodes of "Homeland", there seems to be a camera on every corner, bus stop & back alley where police can monitor & track people. Of course it's a tv show, but I think that's probably where we are heading, especially in high crime areas Fine by me. CH has added them to some commercial districts and I think they should add them to more. I know some people think it's big brother intruding, but if you ask me, if you're not breaking the law, you shouldn't care.

Cleveland: One University Circle
What is Uptown phase 3? What's going up now? If so, I'd say no impact. That will be up and running long before this even breaks ground. As to Intessa - this would not hurt that at all. Very different product types since Intessa is micro apartments.

Short of Toby Cosgrove, no one is paying $10k a month. I'd bet a lot of money that the penthouse prices get revised down - even $5k per month would be a lot.

Cuyahoga County Sin Tax
The County would have to take care of Jacobs Field and Gund Arena, the City Cleveland Browns Stadium*. They are the owners. * I refuse to use corporate names unless those entities are paying me to do so and think media outlets should take a similar approach That's silly. If you want to call them that, have at it, but to say media outlets should be paid to use those names is silly. Where does it end? Maybe the PD should call the Browns the Cleveland Dysfuntionals unless they are paid to call them the Browns. Those corporate names are the official names of the facilities.
