Before that flood, I don't think Cleveland was really even in our minds, despite the protestations of Chicago A.V. Club editor and Cleveland booster Marah Eakin. Pet Peeves!
I'm the same way - although I have one pair of black and one pair of brown for work shoes and I do have sandals. When I find good shoes, I am not above buying them again once they wear out. I am on my 2nd pair of Johnston and Murphy brown shoes. So comfortable and I have to admit, worth the $120.

View Image Gallery A new ordinance passed June 29 at a special meeting of Cleveland Heights City Council prohibits minors from being on public grounds in the Coventry Village and Cedar-Lee business districts after 6 p.m. and institutes fines for parents of children who are found to be out after curfew, effective immediately. Nitpick this! Last summer my dad and I replaced my fireplace (or should I say my dad did and I was there). We got rid of the faux brick and put in a real mantle with a granite facade.

Exactly, just kept shooting until I got lucky. That was a 20 sec exposure. I was trying to capture some lightning in Cleveland last week and I was using roughly 5 second exposures with the exposure bumped down about 1 stop so the lightning wouldn't over expose my shot. I got one decent one... I'll try to remember to post it. Any other tips for lightning photography? Not really - this was the first time I tried it. One problem in Cleveland is I am not often in an area where you can see such an open sky. In the pic I took, I was at OBX, NC (a TON less city light than Cleveland, thus 20 sec exposure) and since the storm was out over the ocean, it might have been barely drizzling, if that, where I was. If it was raining where I was, I would have needed to find shelter to keep my camera dry. The biggest challenges, if you ask me, in Cleveland are being somewhere to see open sky and finding shelter somewhere to keep equipment dry. After that, the beauty of digital is you can make adjustments on the spot and just hope to get lucky!

The PD's coverage is lazy. They added a bunch of people's twitter comments with some people talking about gunshots. I expect that the newspaper would fact check a reporter before saying there were gunshots and I would expect the same of any twitter comment they post online. Some random person posting on twitter that they heard there were gunshots and the PD posting that comment is extremely irresponsible reporting.

It's absurd for windy to compare him and Lebron leaving to brain drain. First of all them leaving isn't exactly "brain" drain, but seriously, those two have very specialized jobs that people would kill for . Jobs that they could have continued to do with great financial success in Ohio. Everyday joes, like the rest of us, sometimes have to face the real issues of whether we can find a job in our professions in Ohio. I will say this - proper planning is the only way to save historic structures. It does not make sense to me for us, as a community, to let a building sit vacant and deteriorate over many years only to get up in arms when someone comes along and wants to tear it down. Where was everyone the last X years while this building deteriorated? I am not making a statement of support or opposition, just pointing out facts. Not to get off topic, but it's like Oakwood in Cleveland Heights. The property was on the market for over a year before First Interestate came along and bought it. If the city (or cities) had a plan in place for this property, it would have been more difficult for the change in use.- Cuyahoga County Property Tax Appeal
I'm not sure, but I believe it is easier to argue for a reduction when you just bought the house - like I said, the purchase price should equal the value (in most normal cases). It sounds like what happened is the mortgage company just messed up and didn't have his payments high enough. Even if the county has it overvalued, the mortgage company needs to collect based on that high valuation because until and appeal, that is what is owed in taxes.- Cuyahoga County Property Tax Appeal
I gotcha. The mortgage company should have drawn up you payments with what the taxes are currently, not based on the price you paid for the house. Once you get taxes lowered, your mortgage payment would go down. It sounds like they based them on what you paid for the house. I doubt you have much recourse here - take it up with your mortgage broker, not the real estate agent.. - Urban Ohio "Picture Of The Day"
