The BEER Thread
I have had an interest as well. I have also heard people mention the importance of sanitation. Is this somehow more important than regular cooking? If you just wash your supplies with soap and water, is that good enough? boilover, what would you estimate the startup cost to be to get all of the equipment and supplies necessary?

Cleveland: Restaurant News & Info
In other Lee Road restaurant news, Ariyoshi has opened in the old Arabcia. I went and they had good sushi. Anatolia Cafe (moving from Cedar Center) is now hiring. Also, the old Starbucks will now be Aoeshi. A friend of mine got the scoop on this place.... http://pasttheline.blogspot.com/2008/02/aoeshi.html

Cleveland: Restaurant News & Info
Was it bought by Deklan (sp?) from Parnell's? Is he going to operate both places? Yes, its going to be more food and pub themed than Parnell's. Both places will remain. (I also hear he kept the old Pub on Lee staff) That would surprise me if he kept the staff. The place has been closed for at least 6 months, maybe even more like a year. I imagine most of these people got jobs elsewhere. In my opinion, part of the reason they closed was due to slow business and I attribute that to the staff they had in there just before they closed. I was in there a few times and in my opinion, the quality of food went downhill. No offense to anyone who was cooking at the time.

Cleveland Eateries: A Where To Guide for Visitors and Residents
Anyone know what pizza places deliver in Tremont? The only pizza place I know is Bug Guy's and they don't deliver. I had delivery a few months ago from some place but I completely forgot the name of it. Any help from anyone living in Tremont that can provide me a list of delivery pizza places. Thanks.

Cleveland: Downtown: The 9 / Rotunda / County Admin Development
Plus, the more garages we have, the less surface lots we need. I would think that to be a good thing.

Foreclosures: CNN Article - Where Cleveland Went Wrong
Yet another article about Ohio being a hotbed of foreclosures. At least they address many of the ways we are addressing the problems. Ohio leads fight to stop foreclosures By Ron Scherer Staff writer of The Christian Science Monitor December 12, 2007 Sylvia Figueroa's house is right out of a Norman Rockwell painting: the basketball rim on the garage door, an American flag flying from the front porch, looking out on the tree-lined street. But she came dangerously close to losing her home to foreclosure when she fell $6,000 behind on her mortgage after her divorce. Before the bank could dispossess Ms. Figueroa and her two children, she went to the Neighborhood Housing Services of Greater Cleveland, which cobbled together state and county funds that will allow her to bring her mortgage up to date. "I was surprised," she says, grinning. "I thought I was going to be denied." more at: http://www.csmonitor.com/2007/1212/p01s04-usec.html

The Great Ohio Beer Thread
Does anyone know what the name of the brewery on Carnegie is? Do they sell by the bottle (i.e. 12 pack or case) or just kegs? I am always looking for new beers and as I drive down Carnegie everyday, I can pick myself some up. As far as Sam Adams goes, I would just clasify that as a domestic. They are too large to be considered microbrew.

Thread topic is a little misleading. This does not appear to be a vote to get them into the Sun Bowl. Just a vote for who fans want to be in it. And is this the bowl game we want them to go to? Is this the "best" bowl game we can qualify for?

Foreclosures: CNN Article - Where Cleveland Went Wrong
"We'd see Escalades, Range Rovers, Cadillacs out in the parking lots" he said. Ditto. People are foreclosing on their homes but driving $50,000+ cars!

Foreclosures: CNN Article - Where Cleveland Went Wrong
http://money.cnn.com/2007/11/12/real_estate/Cleveland_foreclosure_factors/index.htm?cnn=yes Where Cleveland went wrong It's too easy to blame the city's housing collapse on Rust-belt economics. How bad government and greed made it one of the nation's foreclosure capitals. By Les Christie, CNNMoney.com staff writer November 13 2007: 3:16 PM EST CLEVELAND (CNNMoney.com) -- As the Treasurer of Cuyahoga County in Ohio, Jim Rokakis spends a lot of his time trying to deal with Cleveland's foreclosure crisis. When asked recently just how bad it is, Rokakis unfurled a six-foot by four-foot Cleveland city plot map. Each lot was covered with dots of red ink where foreclosed homes filled the plots. From a few feet away, the map looked heavily freckled, while some neighborhoods nearly melted together in crimson masses. Foreclosures hit Cleveland early and hard. By the summer of 2007, it had four of the top 21 ZIP codes for foreclosure filings in the United States. According to RealtyTrac, the city's 44105 ZIP, known as the Slavic Village, was the hardest hit U.S. community with 783 filings. What made Cleveland the nation's foreclosure epicenter???? http://money.cnn.com/2007/11/12/real_estate/Cleveland_foreclosure_factors/index.htm?cnn=yes

Apartment/house rental websites in Cleveland Heights
As far as apt in a house versus building, keep in mind that most buildings do not require tenants to pay heat, this is a huge saving.

Not sure why they were not open, but as a business they are definitely still open for business (unless my sister is out of a job and didn't tell me).

Is Florida Over? Florida's Loss Could Be Ohio's Gain
Looks like Tennessee is benefitting a lot from the Florida problems. Charlotte, NC is getting a lot of retirees these days. Sorry to say it, but I don't see Florida's loss being Ohio's gain. These people who are looking to retire down south will still do it, just by going to NC, SC, GA, etc. I suppose increase in home prices in FL may mean an Ohioan will be more likely stay put, but I doubt this will have much of an affect on Ohio. I know some people in Charlotte and in real estate in Charlotte and they tell me even as homes sales are down nationwide they are doing fine.

Interesting the Coral is doing it and not the Arkansas firm that was previously announced to the project. I suppose I would prefer someone local to redevelop it.

Ohio Liquor Laws
"It was not supposed to apply to consumers," Rep. Matthew Dolan, a Russell Township Republican and chairman of the House Finance Committee, said Tuesday. "When it came back from the Senate, I probably didn't read it as closely as I should have." I also read this in the paper and was amazed at that statement. What else isn't this guy reading as close as he should have?

It is crazy to me to think a player of this status is transferring to UC. This is not to say Jones is a heisman candidate, but it is just nice to see players wanting to go to Cincinnati as opposed to the old days when no one wanted to play there. This is good news for Cincy and the state of affairs with the program.

ohio sports fans show your caps!
I guess I don't understand either. I went to UC (although I'm not from Cincy) and would never wear an X cap.

Cleveland Guardians Discussion
I may not have been around for most of that but I am 28 and went to countless games in the 80's. I remember how they were before the 90's. I was at the longest game they ever played (I think it was in 93 and we lost), the last 3 games at the old stadium (where we got swept by the ChiSox) and numerous opening days (sometimes with an obstructed view from that old stadium). I remember 87 with Joe Carter and Cory Snyder on the cover of SI and how good the Indians were supposed to be that year (I think we lost 100 games). It has been fantastic to see the emergence of the tribe in the 90's and let's hope they can help us long suffering fans out with a WS win. As far as matchups. I hope we can get Boston in the first round. they are not playing good ball right now and are definitely the most vulnerable. LA and NY are both playing very well. Let them beat each other up in the first round.
