Does anyone know
What is absinthe? Absinthe is a strong-herbal liquor distilled with wormwood and anise. It can contains other aromatic herbs like star anise, anise seed, fennel, licorice, hyssop, veronica, lemon balm, angelica root, dittany, coriander, juniper, and nutmeg. What is wormwood? It is a Mediterranean perennial herb or shrubby plant (Artemisia absinthium) of the family Asteraceae (aster family). We know it as the bitter herb used to make Absinthe, and is the source for the chemical compound thujone. What is thujone? Thujone is a chemical compound. It is a colourless liquid with a distinctive menthol odour. It is a ketone and a monoterpene, and is found in two stereoisomeric forms. It is found in a number plants including sage, thyme, rosemary, caraway, sassafras, and yarrow. Thujone is used in several modern products including Absorbine Jr.®, Vicks Vaporub, Absinthe, Gammel Dansk, and many more. FROM: http://www.absinthebuyersguide.com/ Also it is said to cause hallucinations and I believe it is thought that Van Gogh had been drinking it when he cut off his own ear.

Does anyone know
I was under the impression you can't buy it in the US. Not sure why you would want to unless you want to cut off your own ear. Try the internet. I think you can get it shipped from overseas.

University of Cincinnati Bearcats Football Discussion
Yes, but that could be at risk with the recent move to the Big East. As of now they are grandfathered in...but I'm not sure how long that will last. I did not know that. They should fight to keep it allowed. They have seemed to struggle to fill the stands historically and right or wrong, selling beer has to help. Also, it would be a way to offset discounting the tickets to fill the stands.

University of Cincinnati Bearcats Football Discussion
It was nice to see all the fans come out. When I was there (98-02), the stands were like a ghost town. One nice thing I remember is that they let you drink at the games, unlike 95% of other D-I schools.

Smithkp, thanks for the post, but there is already a thread for this. Check it out. :-) http://www.urbanohio.com/forum2/index.php?topic=11790.0 My bad, I did a search and nothing came up (must not have searched all forums).

Cleveland: Population Trends
The key quote in this article is..... “It’s about figuring out how to make an opportunity out of the city we’ve turned into and stop pretending we’ll be Chicago someday.”

Cleveland: Downtown: Convention Center Atrium & Expansion
Agreed, if this makes the ballot then MM is definitely doomed. Libertarians, Green Party and Republicans all agreeing on something?? just goes to reinforce to me that putting it on the ballot must be a bad idea. Someone needs to start a web site called dontputitontheballot.com.

Cleveland: Crime & Safety Discussion
Now I get what you all are saying. I assumed - my bad - that he had been on TV and issued a press release. but after reading this in combination with what MayDay wrote I now understand. And he may have been on TV, if so, i have not seen it. I do not watch every newscast, so its possible he was on and I missed.

Cleveland: Crime & Safety Discussion
Have you seen the press release below? I hear what you are saying. I just think it would be better if he came out in person and said that as opposed to issuing a press release. People want to SEE their leaders. Right or wrong, but we live in a visual world. I want to SEE "my" Mayor on TV telling me these things. (I say "my" because I don't live in Cleveland)

Cleveland: Crime & Safety Discussion
why would he make a statement without having all the facts. Let the investigation go on and stay out of it. If he feeds into the publics want for immediate information - it could come back to bite him in the ass. He doesn't need to say, "This is what happened...." He needs to say, "The mayor's office offers condolences to those hurt, and that the Police will investigate and charge those responsible, etc." I'm just saying he needs to be out there and letting people know that he cares beyond a two sentence press report.

Cleveland: Crime & Safety Discussion
I think the under age is the big issue here. We need city leaders to enact some legislation that prohibits anyone under the age of 21 in liquor establishments after 10:00 pm. There is no need to have 18-20 year olds in a bar with people drinking. We all know, these underage kids, first thing, go into the bathroom and wipe the X of their hands.

Cleveland: Crime & Safety Discussion
Where is Frank Jackson for any of this? Maybe he has weighed in but I have not heard it. Correct me if I am wrong, but he was no where to be found when that guy shot the 15-year old in self defense, and now the deadliest night in Cleveland in his administration, and not a word? I have to ask, what the hell is he doing? I am not saying he has the answer to these problems, but he needs to be out there talking to people and weighing in on these tragedies.

Cleveland: Cuyahoga County Gov't properties disposition (non-Ameritrust)
This is not meant to be inflammatory, so please don't jump all over me, but what is so significant/historic about this particular building? I am just not sure what the issue is. Do people not want it torn down simply because they think it is wasteful to tear a building down to build a new one?

Parking Lot Planning
Does anyone know of any resources for parking lot planning? For example, say you have one acre of land. What is a good rule of thumb on the amount of spaces you can get on the property? What is the standard size of a parking space? Are there rules of thumb for garages and the number of spaces per level based on the size of the land? Any help anyone can provide would be greatly appreciated.
