Columbus: OSU / University Area Developments and News
SarahBeth replied to CMH_Downtown's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionWell someone else is going to have to contribute the Gateway construction photos, because OH MY GOD... I'm an IDIOT. I went all over campus taking photos today, of the many many construction sites and projects, and then I went and took several pics of the Gateway thing, and then I started to head home but decided to try ONE LAST SHOT, and at that point I tripped over a concrete block and did a head over heels flip, landed in some damp mulch, and now my camera doesn't work. It won't even turn on. It was already "kinda" broken and obsolete, so I guess I am in the market for a new one.

oh my gosh, wow. I want to see pictures of these!

Cincinnati: Retail News
to clarify, I think it's not "fashion for better women" but "better fashions" for women. As in, you have some regular stuff, and then there's the stuff some might consider "better" - more prestigious name brand or designer, for example.

Columbus: OSU / University Area Developments and News
SarahBeth replied to CMH_Downtown's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionHey it's been raining every day! I'm hoping it will be nice Friday afternoon. I'll have a little time after class and don't have to work that day. I got here in fall '99 and most of that south campus stuff was already closed & gone. I found it kind of scary to walk past those few blocks. Yeah Campus Partners probably didn't go about things the right way, based on what everyone says, but... it's too late! Complaining about it forever won't bring back those businesses and buildings. I just want to see the end result.

Favorite Local Radio Station
I recently discovered WCBE and it's now a favorite I also love WOXY (the old 97x) but it's not exactly local anymore and I admit to listening to a lot of WNCI despite it being utter crap... it's... convenient. I will listen for hours in the hope of hearing the one or two songs I actually like.

Columbus: Downtown: RiverSouth Developments and News
SarahBeth replied to CMH_Downtown's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & Constructionawesome, yay columbus! The more I think about where I'd like to live after college, the more I think about staying right here... I used to say if I stayed in Ohio at all, it would be closer to the Cincinnati area where I'm from, but Columbus is looking more attractive all the time.

Cleveland: Wind Turbine Construction News
I saw the ones in Pennsylvania on a trip last month - they are huge! Really cool though. Maybe we can get some of those in Columbus too, it seems pretty darn windy here in the wintertime at least. Compared to the Cincinnati area, that is. I'm sure it's nothing compared to Cleveland! PA wind things:

Random Ohio Sports Talk
 yeah how come they still get to go to the Rose Bowl? Oh well, great game yesterday! I have to admit I was surprised we actually won, but yay  Too bad my friend and I got into an accident on the way home! gah. You can call me Frankenstein for the next week, til my stitches come out.

Cincinnati and the smoking ban
It would be nice if a club would have maybe designate one smoke-free night per week, some kind of compromise like that. I don't go 'out' all that often but, for example I went to a concert last month and spent 5 hours in a smallish smoky room just so I could see this band I really like. I got used to the odor after a while but it worried me to think about how much 2nd hand smoke I was taking in. Not to mention that the reek got into my hair, and my clothes, so everything had to be washed (not that I don't wash my clothes, but things like a sweater that I just wore over my other clothes should not have needed washing after just being worn once.) I just don't understand why people can't hold off on smoking for a couple of hours, is it that hard?

Columbus: OSU / University Area Developments and News
SarahBeth replied to CMH_Downtown's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionMy mom stayed in the Fawcett Center during my OSU orientation.. I did't even know it wasn't a hotel anymore. It would work well as a dorm except for it being so far from central campus - it would be quite a hike for residents.

Columbus: Ohio State Main Library Renovation
About Page Hall - I was happy that they were keeping the facade, but now that I see the big glass cube sticking out of the back I wonder why they bothered... it looks kind of silly to me :/

Songs about States, Cities, Places, etc.
Just now on woxy.com I heard a song titled "Columbus Ohio" by a group called Landing Gear. also... I guess no one posted this yet, but Over the Rhine had a double album titled Ohio, with one song actually called "Ohio."

Columbus: Ohio State Main Library Renovation
As long as it is going to retain its traditional look on the front (Oval) side, it's fine with me. Improvements to the interior are another story - they are long overdue. It's kind of scary and claustrophobia-inducing currently.
