Still, the snow + ice is not fun at all in several situations. >.<
  2. Sir, you've pretty much summed it up for me. But this time if it fails, I will not be the least bit surprised. =/
  3. Call me the sarcastic pessimist but I'll have to see it to believe it. That mall has been nothing but crap and I've never seen any of the retail combinations work.

Rob = winner. Period. Tillerman = loser... -_- Good game. We can raise the price of gas to motivate lifestyle changes in some drivers, while using said price increases to help pay for alternative fuel R&D. It wont change everyone, but some will certainly change how they handle vehicular travel/consumption. However, as a society we should consider the poor in this equation. Even with the successful introduction of ethanol and hydrogen fueled cars, the poor will have the worse trouble with the technological exchange (as usual) and any significant increase in the price of gas (should go without saying but...). It can and should be done, but it should be done very carefully. And now to end with some satire "Steps on beating rising gas prices." 1. Sell Car 2. Shop Online for needs and wants 3. Walk for any needs and wants that are not online (or rent a car for a bit, thanks John S.) 4. Use the car only when absolutely necessary 5. ????????????? (something happens) 6. Profit
  5. /giggle Classic question on a lot of forums. XP Perhaps a note or sticky about this wonderous admin power would help? Also I agree with Kingfish. If you get a name change, you should have "The Artist formerly known as...[insert Old Username here]" for a whole week. Maybe even a month if the names are totally different from each other. XD
  6. 8/10 Pretty decent stuff. Noticed that some of the houses looked a bit similar but much better than the cookie-cutter-crap I usually come across. Definitely better than the no-talent/no-thought junk too.

A Lot of 2XX 4XX 6XX Interstates are missing but I believe that was because adding those would make the map even more convoluted than it already is. XD I also noticed 74 was missing. Definitely a slip up.

Sorry about your loss River... Everyone is here if you need us. Back to topic. A few of my friends are calling the winter storm an ironic justice since its happening on St. Valentines. Personally, I don't think of it that way since I've had to shovel... twice, scrape my car... twice, and free my car from ice and snow...half a dozen times..... This has been quite annoying, but at least some scenes made for great pictures and panoramics. @ Rob 1412 I agree, lets think summer! ;p I'm thinking we need a spring/summer pics thread to help us through this!! Go go imaginary heatwave!
  9. Really? Everytime I see him post, I think of planesnakes! XD XD XD /anti-flame shield activated. Anyways, back to topic. I have to agree with Rando and Columbusite on this one. People use the bus, despite what you hear or incorrectly assume. It is all based on economics and service provided to certain areas (or lack thereof.) The streetcar idea is just a simple form of alternative transportation that could serve a significant block of the community, mostly the uptowners/urbanists and the university crowd. I'd at least like to see a test line implemented for about a year so the city can have a suitable trial run of the service. And before I forget, that snowstorm should be more of a wakeup call to the city. So many people stranded on the highways for hours and no other efficient way to get home... (-_-)yea...I'd be calling for some lightrail.

I wouldn't base my conclusions on newspapers solely. Never. Plus, I believe there should be *gasp* a balance of relevant professionals at ODOT. Not all engineers, not all planners, and certainly not all architects -_-. These professions working together however can strengthen the products they bring to transportation and cities. At the same time they can try to counterbalance the weaknesses in the other professions. I believe all of that in total is what Rando was refering to. Its thanks to you and a couple of other folks I add the following. XP [Pre-recorded Message from Progamer reads:] This post is not an attack or flame on anyone and is not coming from the center of any emotion, especially anger. Please do not fly off the handle. Kthanksbye.

You should talk with some guy I know called ragerunner :) That post sounds rather familiar.

Its a nice idea Rando. You've laid out the arguments clearly and provided a relevant display of what could be done and why. The problem lies in convincing the neighbors that the catwalks will not bring about negative utility and convincing the businesses to proceed with pedestrian friendly designs.
  13. They should just go ahead with streetcars. Even with adjustments its still feasible and it could serve many communities and the nearby universities all at once. Of course I have to agree with thomas, reality will get in the way.
  14. QFT (Quoted for truth) Thats exactly what will happen. Then they'll complain to widen the roads even more. Meaningless 10 lane interchange to nowhere, here we come! -_-
  15. Well atleast Shaker Square has the balls to embrace its gayness! I else would it have survived for so long! Triangles, is just so 80s homie-sexual. :-D What were the uniforms color? Hot Pink? Gonna have to agree with this guy. The triangles sounds like some 80s metro band, some 80s loser girl band or a very poor sounding minor league team. ;p /raises Anti-flame shield. Oh and back on topic. I hope the bears win it cause the Colts have been getting on my nerves.
  16. Well I thought this would happen. I'm not too stunned by it. Even though they aren't supposedly role models, guess what... some kids still look up to NFL players... *gasp* -_-. There has got to be some limits to what they do in public. Side Note: I think its humorous that the players were warned not to become the 9th arrest and sure enough, someone stepped to the plate. Brilliant.
  17. 100% for both. :) Seemed like something from 4th grade or even earlier than that.
  18. Ok, this may be true, but did anyone else think it was written funny? The sentence just struck me as kind of weird, as if airports don't exist outside the U.S. /here I thought it was funny/stupid too. Who do they get to write these articles? -_-

Seems like more and more people are realizing this ban is more than what they thought. (VFW anyone?) I don't really care about it since I don't smoke. Its still gonna be an issue because people either didn't understand it or they didn't anticipate what the ban would apply to. Of course there will be those resistant to the ban as others have pointed out. At least its something to keep an eye on.
