^Thanks, I check this site daily and don't ever recall this development being discussed.

Cleveland: Flats Developments (Non-Stonebridge or FEB)
Has anyone here heard anything about a potential 11-story apartment building on the West Bank called "The Aqueduct"? I heard about this through some higher-up's in the building trades but have seen nothing in the media or anywhere else.

Relocating to Springfield/Dayton area questions
Thanks to everyone who responded, but my wife has been presented with an offer to work in North Canton (closer to both of our families and friends than Dayton) and we've decided to pursue that.

Relocating to Springfield/Dayton area questions
My wife is looking at a medical position in Tipp City and I'm a carpenter. We're in Mansfield right now, and we'd be looking to move sometime in the fall. We're thinking Springfield since she would have a reasonable commute and I would be able to pursue work in Columbus or Dayton. We have no knowledge of the area and are looking for any kind of helpful info(neighborhoods/rental resources/etc) anyone could offer. A little info on us: we're in our mid 30's, no kids (yet) and 2 dogs. We'd prefer to rent a house to get started, and go from there (our budget would be up to $900/1k/mo if real nice). Thanks for any info in advance!

Wooster / Wayne County: Development and News
The St. Paul Hotel project on S. Market street is very close to opening. Also, the groundbreaking for the Merchant's Block project on the site of the former Freedlander's Department Store on Liberty St. happened last week.

Lakewood: Development and News
^You mean 'eastward'; the wife and I moved back to Lakewood last fall from Toledo. We were there for about a year. One thing I do miss about Toledo is the abundance of top-notch Mexican restaurants.....this area doesn't seem to match up in that category.

Lakewood: Development and News
There's also a sign in the former IHOP on Detroit that says a 'Cozumel' mexican place is coming. That's walkin distance from my place

Lakewood: Development and News
According to 'LakewoodBuzz.com', a Robek's is going into the Lakewood Center South bldg next to Panera. This is sweet b/c I love Robek's. Also, the Drug Mart plaza is supposed to get a major facelift in the very near future.

New Rock Station in Cleveland -- 107.3 FM
^I'm a big fan of 93.9, I really dig Canadian rock (Tragically Hip, Sam Roberts, Matt Mays, OLP, etc); I can get it pretty good on the west side.

Cleveland: Flats East Bank
Methinks it's popular enough as is.....too crowded and it wouldn't be nearly as nice :-D
-
Cleveland: North Coast Transportation Center
^I get what you're saying 327. But wouldn't travelers with luggage wanna go check into their hotel first? Who's getting off a train and heading straight for the CC/MM unless it's a daytrip?

Dog-Friendly Bars in Cleveland
I have taken my airedale(s) to the 5 o'clock lounge on multiple occasions; they chill in a booth or just hang by me at the bar. Everyone loves them.

Cleveland: Random Development and News
I've seen work proceeding on the new athletic facility (football/track) at this site; anyone know a little more? I remember reading that Central Catholic will use the facility as it's home. The site looks like it's being prepped for some type of synthetic turf - that's not cheap!

CLEVELAND - A Nooner of a Goodtime!!!
1. Akron? 2. Canoes? 3. Portage? Isn't he referring to a route he used and was later used as the roadmap for the Ohio & Erie canal, linking the Ohio River with Lake Erie? I would say you're correct on all 3...nicely done! *My senior history project at JCU was on the Ohio & Erie Canal; the case can be made that it was the single largest factor in Cleveland's evolution from a backwater port town to industrial/commercial pwerhouse. Nice shots Mayday! Did this cruise make it down to the mills?

University of Toledo: Development and News
C-Dawg, I can't really disagree. The construction guy in me says 'alright, more work', but the pragmatist and informed citizen says 'really? this is the best use of $11 mil for UT?'. I think someone made a rather large donation to get this started (Savage?) so if it's being privately funded, what's the school gonna do?
-
University of Toledo: Development and News
Construction has begun on UT's new Indoor Athletic Practice Facility. The front page of the most recent Development News featured an article and artists' renditions of it (toledobiz.com). It will cost $11 mil and encompass 74,800 sq ft. It is due to be completed by the end of the year. I went by yesterday and dozers were prepping the site (next to Savage Arena). According to the article, UT was one of the few D1 schools around without one.

My Personal Credit Crisis
sounds good to me, but the problem is, so many have credit cards now. to bad people can't just eliminate credit cards. If everyone shopped only using a debit card, we'd be "back to old times". ^I'm one of those who learned the hard way. I only use a debit card now; if I don't have it in my checking account, I don't buy it. I will never fall into the credit card trap again. Why can't you put it on the CC and pay in full at the end of the month? some CC offer built in protections that DC don't. If I was salaried with a guaranteed income every month, I would. I'm a carpenter; we are paid hourly. If we're working outside and we get rainy weather, we don't work. If I finish a job and my contractor doesn't have anything right away, I don't work. It's hard to plan financially when there are a host of variables that you don't control that can reduce and/or stop your income on a weekly/monthly basis. That's why I only pay for things with my checking account. My wife has several credit cards we use for things like booking hotels/flights/emergency kind of stuff.
