Cleveland: Downtown: Residences at 1717
There's been a furniture store (Surroundings) downtown for years. Or are they not counting the WHD as part of the CBD?

Cleveland: Ohio City: Development and News
I'm pretty sure CMHA is planning to keep that property for the foreseeable future for the simple reason that it would cost a LOT of money to move 3,000 people somewhere else in the city. CMHA has been offered millions for that land in the past, and I doubt they turned down the money because of history.

Greater Cleveland RTA News & Discussion
MBTA has been doing both, actually. Service has been extremely inconsistent throughout February, on all modes (ferry, bus, rapid transit, and commuter rail). Approximately half the rail fleet on two of the lines is out of service. I'd warn Joe C. against comparing RTA to MBTA too much, though... His counterpart here, Beverly Scott, was forced to resign over MBTA's handling of the weather-related service disruptions. People in Cleveland might get ideas

Cleveland: North Coast Transportation Center
We'll just end up with an even crappier facility if it's a rush job. I was so excited to hear there was movement on this, but I'm thinking more and more this is gonna be a huge dud.

Cleveland / Lakewood: The Edge Developments
The median income of the 44102 Edgewater tract isn't that much lower than the Gold Coast tract of 44107 ($41 vs $45k,) and it's higher than the Lakewood tract south of Clifton ($31k). South of Detroit and east of W. Boulevard are a different story, but from an income standpoint, the differences between Edgewater proper and the Gold Coast aren't "vast", IMO.

Northeast Ohio / Cleveland: General Transit Thread
This will surprise nobody, but RTA has apparently decided on upgraded bus service for W. 25: clifton boulevard-style transit eyed for 25th street corridor erin o'brien | Wednesday, January 21, 2015 "To meet those needs, the study concludes that a transit system similar to the Cleveland State Line, which runs along Clifton Boulevard, would be the best fit. Mortensen cites the line's frequency, improved waiting environments and a dedicated bus lane during certain times of the day. The line is also branded." http://www.freshwatercleveland.com/devnews/west25th012115.aspx

I'm really, really curious to see what retail tenants Stark is pursuing. They seem to show a lot of non-restaurant storefronts in the presentation

Cleveland: Suburban Crime & Safety Discussion
Look, I was just relaying what the cop told me. You don't have to believe it if you don't want to. I only brought it up because it was a personal experience I'd had with disruptive teens at the same movie theater. It was actually about a year ago (end of 2013), and I don't think what I witnessed was coordinated at all.

I've always thought that building could be really great if it got fixed up. Not holding my breath, though :|

Cleveland: Suburban Crime & Safety Discussion
One of the last times I saw a movie at Valley View, two groups of 4 or 5 teenagers (from Cleveland Heights, incidentally) stood up in the middle of the theater and started brawling because one of the kids had kicked another's seat. They stopped the movie, and I had to give a statement to the cop that showed up. I've never experienced that sort of thing at any other theater, but I still consider these incidents to be isolated, and I hope the theater doesn't get a reputation!

Cleveland: Cleveland Clinic News & Info
It's ridiculous that they'd choose one over the other. West Park and Lakewood combined account for almost 10% of Cuyahoga County's population. But I guess they're not the right 10%...

Cleveland: Lakefront Development and News
Just an interesting tidbit- the current mouth of the river is actually man-made. It was dug in 1827- http://clevelandhistorical.org/items/show/68#.VJ9nrP8sLA

Cleveland: Retail News
True, but it'll still be nice to not have to leave Cuyahoga county just to pick up a skänka or a dombås! In all seriousness, it's awesome to hear they're considering a site close to the heart of the core county of our region. Even if it doesn't draw people from Youngstown or Toledo, it'll definitely bring retail dollars in from Medina and Akron, and I still think that's a win.

Cleveland: Random Development and News
This is probably the firmest commitment we've seen to that location. What a waste.

Cleveland: Downtown: Jack Cleveland Casino - Phase 2
I've heard that, too, and I suppose I can understand not wanting major road construction to be going on and needing Public Square to be finished. But wouldn't buildings going up (and particularly several at once) convey that Cleveland is a growing and thriving city? I thought part of the reason we wanted the RNC was to change the narrative about Cleveland, and a skyscraper (Stark) or massive mixed use development (Casino Phase II) would make a good impression, IMO.

And honestly, some taller new-build apartments on the west side of the street could still take advantage of the views.

Cleveland: Downtown: Halle Building + Annex Conversion
Well, they're not aiming to do the conversion till 2018, and a lot can happen in 3 years. Hopefully they'll change their plans.

Cleveland: Downtown: Playhouse Square Development and News
And Wrigley Field. But seriously, it had a perfectly serviceable name for decades. It's one thing if an individual or company helps pay for the construction of a building (Severance Hall,) or if they have a legitimate association with the organization it houses (Blossom, Gund Arena, Jacobs Field.) But just paying a ton of money to put your name on a 92 year-old building is different. Idk.

Cleveland: Downtown: Playhouse Square Development and News
I'm glad they're not asking for any naming rights. I think it was totally tacky to rename the Palace Theater earlier this year.
