  1. it appears some renderings are starting to turn up for the velodrome. these are sited at the county fairgrounds in berea. the previously posted article suggests this is preliminary. but nonetheless...pictures. http://velodrome4c.blogspot.com/2008/02/rendering-of-our-velodrome.html http://velodrome4c.blogspot.com/2008/03/3-d-models-proposed-layout.html

I have no input into this discussion, except to say that this is just about the silliest thing I have ever read. I can see the happy Akronians, "oh golly gee, they mentioned our name...and second too!"
  3. I was surprised to find a batt-park townhome for rent on craigslist yesterday. not bad, if you can afford 1200 a month. I can't.
  4. best grand opening ever! to be honest, I find the whole thing a little perplexing. they renovated the building the bar is in, but left the house next to it, to the left. it looks really silly because it is encompassed by the giant stone walls and the stonehenge/pizza oven thing. I am picky.
  5. if building at tc means the giant rotating hard rock cafe guitar sign comes down, I am all for it. the only thing more mid-nineties pathetic than a that place would be if we had the only remaining planet hollywood. it's not a tumor! anyhow, my point here is, I would think that the draw of east 4th, the east bank, tremont, etc should be enough as it is, where ever the cc is built(in the city that is). cleveland is always about the neighborhoods, the diverse draws around town. in which case, you must weigh instead the benefits of rebuilding the old cc, or building a new one on the ass of tc for what they are.
  6. I'll second both of those. friday night has become pizza night at our house. we used to order, but nothing is worth the money, so now we make it ourselves. also, my wife and I stopped in to latitude 41 on saturday morning. despite feet of snow plowed to their doorstep, they were open. we had a nice breakfast, an omelet and some french toast. the owner said she is adding pizzas soon as well. and I am tired of driving to parma for decent indian food. cafe udipi needs to open up in det/shore!
  7. I believe under many of the county renderings the new building would be shorter and involve tearing down the 1010 building. so you are in luck. you can be for the breuer and for 1010 at the same time.

there was some chatter on the breuer/ameritrust site thread about k&d and their building standards. a while back, I was googling around and found this blog about construction and design. I have no idea who wrote it, or how updated it is. but it mentions some of the problems on stonebridge, cutting corners etc. hopefully these things have been addressed, or at least brought to the attention of the firm. http://sbs-44114.blogspot.com/2007/03/is-it-finished.html having never owned a home, let alone a new home, I have no idea what the process would be when something is built for you, and you are not happy with the result. I'm a librarian not a lawyer. hypothetically, how would someone proceed?
  9. nice choice. you might want to add some fenders too. a true commuter must ride home in all weather. or in the case of cleveland...most weather. blizzard biking is not recommended. the pedals are likely cheap wellgo jobbers that they put on all new bikes, even the super expensive ones. it is an assumed upgrade. and if you don't own one already...buy a helmet! cars are made of metal, you are not. oh, and have fun. there is nothing like the feeling of pedaling home after a long day at work.
  10. I am not sure why a roof over a parked bike is so perplexing. if you leave your bike out in the rain, it gets wet. riding a wet bike, after the rain has stopped is unpleasant. especially if you have a seat that soaks up water. depending on your bicycle and how well maintained it is, a little rain can foul your chain, make your brakes less efficient, and make your handle bar grips slippery.
  11. I never park my chicken, I take her in with me.
  12. What a fascinating claim. It is so backwards, it might be frontwards.
  13. let's not forget idiotic...I'll die inside once that is constructed!
  14. honestly, I would say the bridge from the office building to the parking garage is worse than a name on a baseball field.
  15. this post on realneo includes a picture of the proposal/drawing/whatever that puts some perspective to the awful glass chandelier of an office building they are thinking about putting next door. http://www.realneo.us/blog/jeff-buster/breuer-gets
  16. that is not from the pd, it is from the cleveland scene. I am sure whoever wrote the article spent a lot of time at the college paper perfecting that journalistic objectivity.
  17. oengus, one idea at a time. your text blasts are incoherent threadkillers. how do you expect anyone to reply to thirty unfinished sentences/thoughts?
  18. whoa, it's like, a visual metaphor for downtown living.
  19. in russia, fun makes russia of you.
  20. his jab in this at the new student housing is unfair. it looks better than most college housing on every campus I have visited. it can't all be gehry. and honestly, what would the lewis building have to riot against if everything over there looked like an exploding silver xmas present?
  21. btw, there is already a vintage store in the waterloo arts district. it is called this way out, and it is located in the basement of the beachland. and yes, go go boots a plenty.
  22. I can't wait till the day when retail in the neo area is so oversaturated that someone opens a store with my name on it and I am the only shopper. and everything they sell are things that I want. a store full of size 11.5 shoes, expensive bicycles, vegetarian food, used records, and coffee paraphernalia. who am I kidding, I would probably walk in, look at the pricetags, and hit the marshalls or the thrift.

http://beerme.com/brewery.php?1449 crooked river closed in 2000. as per the link above, two other breweries now brew their beers, one in cincinnati.
