Cleveland: Cuyahoga County Gov't properties disposition (non-Ameritrust)
there is so much wrong with what you have just posted I don't know where to begin. scroll back to the beginning pages of this thread. there are designs for the proposed building. none of which are very nice. the design is not final, but it is likely not getting any taller, or more interesting. the rest of your post is the kind of illogical crap that is clouding this debate. seems like everyone has an opinion that starts with, "I don't know anything about architecture or the issue at hand, but I think it's ugly so..." yea, iphone is the answer(bangs head on desk). ffs.

yes, but you have to park really ugly cars in it. cars with only one bathroom in them. wakka wakka. btw, blight is a verb?! I guess it is trending that way.

ignoring the fact that you are completely bass ackwards on who is thinking what, here is some heady thought. the county overpaid for the site and is now going to overpay for the destruction and will likely overpay to build new. even without thinking about what the breuer building looks like, how is that reasonable?! give me empty potential over wasted opportunity any day. I believe it is the window inserts that are the asbestos part. the honeycomb looking stuff. the concrete is made out of well, concrete. rocks. etc.

ripple effect multiplier...who knew?! the numbers they are throwing around in chapter 4 are interesting to say the least.

kimo's sushi, great for takeout, ok for dine in. also, momocho is in that block too, upscale mexican food. very tasty.

while this is on point, I feel like no one will get it until someone beats them over the head with the real financial ramifications of the project. it seems like a no-brainer. make that point to enough people, and the support for saving the tower will be there.

welcome to the neighborhood.

the answer here is one of those little razor scooters. you could've leisurely kicked your way through the sidewalk traffic while looking like no more of a tool than you did driving 6 blocks in a car to avoid arriving with pit stains. ha!

where exactly does jackson shake out on this?

Cleveland: Detroit-Superior Lofts
riding past this in the morning, it was hard to picture how so much building could fit onto that lot. perhaps the photo is a little misleading. the building sort of pops out at you...stupid turret. any idea if the footprint goes through to the parallel street, church?

the renovated building next door looks great btw. they were working on it this morning as well. I just hope the scale of this project, in terms of floors, doesn't dwarf the existing structures too much. nonetheless, I would love to see something like this on the parking lot up the street as well. but I will take the positives one at a time.

they had me at "kinda junky looking!" what salesmanship!

how is it the property owners would be concerned about parking. there are huge swaths of parking less than two blocks away. brand new surface level parking with a view of the river. just the thing for strolling after a trip to the strip club and the fish distributor.

Cleveland: League Park
league park is on my route to work. I ride my bike through hough everyday. it is rough, but not that bad. I think it is important to actually put your foot in a neighborhood at least a couple times before you pass judgement on it. there are certainly problems there, but things like this could do alot. being upset by placement of money is such a tricky issue. historical preservation money rarely comes from the same place as other community investments. it is a win for cleveland to finally get something to fix this long forgotten site.

funny thing about this photo, there are only a few small parking garages visible(I count 5 garages, two underground, one in an old building, and two above ground). thus, most of the street level parking should be consolidatable within the overall design of pesht. not to mention, it will be nicer parking than those junky lots.

Your Daily Commute
my new commute, now that the weather isn't awful is on my bike. herman -> 49th -> detroit -> bridge -> superior -> ansel -> chester -> east http://www.runningmap.com?id=12588 just a bit over 8 miles. and I only got cutoff by an oblivious driver once! the best part is, I shaved 5 minutes off the car version of this same commute, which is shoreway to mlk to museum. ha! I got up early to ride my bike across town, and I ended up a half an hour early to work. so if any of these roads are on your daily, wave to me as I hack up a lung.

having worked in a butcher shop, let me assure you, the meat is no fresher on tues or thurs. mwf are traditional truck days, when fresh product comes in. to me, the market is open more than enough. when it's open, it's a real treat. and if not, I don't get maha's for lunch that day. if you can, walk the vegetable stands as they close, for great last minute deals.

do not worry, it appears that spiderman is on the case. though he looks a little heavier than he used to be. no wonder he is walking across the street and not swinging from a web.

post speakintongues, the pit turned the first floor into heavy metal practice spaces. there was a lovely old bar on the first floor, and a stage. I have not been inside since too see it. the ballroom on the third floor was painted completely black the last time I was up there. there are also a few apartments, of the more rustic variety. and the left hand bottom floor always had cafe potential which was never utilized. I imagine that would be the spot, but I'm no expert. hopefully some of the original character of the building is salvageable. all signs point to maybe, after everything that place has been through. as of a few years back, the fixtures still had old hungarian crests and stuff.

I'll bet the denizens of urbanabudhabi.com will be nonplussed by the suburban bunkers that the clinic builds there. or not.

inside the old rite aid, or on that corner? it is a thoroughly under utilized crossroads, especially with its proximity to all the good news one block up. a new building, maybe built up to just one of the sidewalks would do wonders for extending the franklin ave streetscape.

Cleveland: Midtown: Development and News
I'll take a stab at it. it is good because that area of cleveland needs amenities. and there's certainly not a dearth of brownfields and empty lots that need redevelopment. so why not? think of it as a park, for young people on bikes. and it is not without precendent. as I mentioned, there is an indoor mtn bike park, which is pretty fancy. as is my nature, I totally spaced the location. but it is still something, first of its kind in the world, and quite popular in the winter months. http://www.raysmtb.com/index.html how I thought this was in midtown I have no idea.

as a fixie rider, I wish it was a velodrome, but as there is already an indoor mtn bike park in that area, I certainly won't complain. perhaps I will get one of those bikes with the knobby tires and tool around e 55.
