Cleveland: Downtown: Euclid & 9th Tower / Schofield Building Redevelopment
I can't wait to shop at Signage.

Cleveland: Downtown: Jack Cleveland Casino - Phase 2
Agreed, I hope they brand it with something original and unique to Cleveland, and don't slap on a generic casino chain branding. It always felt like a missed opportunity to renovate a beautiful art deco building by laying down yards of horse shoe carpet.

Cleveland: Random Development and News
There's a lot of land flattening in progress on the interior of Scranton Peninsula. Is there a post I missed? I searched and found nothing.

Cleveland: Downtown: The Avenue District
From the linked article concerning the remaining properties from the Avenue District project: "We're going to repave it and we're going to park it," he said Wednesday. "I don't see that being a development site for quite some time." :shoot: SURFACE PARKING EDIT: Aaaand the article is from last year.

Cleveland: Flats East Bank
What difference does it make? Would u rather have it vacant? Smdh I would rather it wasn't populated with this kind of kitschy garbage, considering how long it took for it to happen. I don't think this is an unreasonable expectation. Since when is having high standards a bad thing around here?

Cleveland: Flats East Bank
It took like ten or fifteen years for the east bank to come back, and so far it looks like a tourist trap for aging baby boomers.

Cleveland: Westown-Jefferson: Development and News
This thread really shows you how long these things can take. I posted the first thing in this thread about the Variety renovation nine years ago!

UrbanOhio: where people get excited about a boring truck.

Cleveland: Flats East Bank
This is almost as corny a concept as the crop idea that never sprouted in Waterloo.

Cleveland: Public Square Redesign
I am kind of baffled by the wall of steel argument against closing the square in both directions. Those are buses. Not trains. Buses. If there are too many of them arriving at the same, adjust the routes and schedules.

Cleveland: Public Square Redesign
Actually the Soldiers and Sailors Monument was extensively renovated between 2008 and 2010 at the cost of 2 million dollars. Though, recently it was slightly damaged by a bunch of high-fiving drunk bros who thought climbing the structure was a good idea. They have been charged in the crime: http://www.cleveland.com/court-justice/index.ssf/2015/03/three_men_charged_in_connectio.html

Cleveland: Flats Developments (Non-Stonebridge or FEB)
It's a little disappointing that while all this positive stuff is happening on Columbus Road, the Hustler Club and the other strip joint remain nearby. Especially considering that the city funneled these businesses into this area to get them away from the other Flats redevelopment projects.

Cleveland: Downtown: Progressive Field
A realistic José Mesa statue would be made of ice and installed at the beginning of every game, allowing it to meltdown by the ninth.
-
Cleveland: Downtown: Gateway District: Development and News
If they were smart they would partner with the developers to save the building and get a bit of the money back from overpaying. Clearly it has value, even in disrepair.

Cleveland: Cleveland Museum of Art Expansion / Renovation
There is a basement below the atrium, which is best kept dry. I believe the water feature idea belonged to Mr. Rub. I can't see it happening now. That said, it is certainly unfair to suggest a half finished space is lifeless. The store, cafe, gallery one, and another wing of the museum open on to the atrium, none of which are open. The museum already has a water feature, it's called Wade Park Lagoon.

Cleveland: Ohio City: Development and News
I think the location qualms here are misguided. This is the kind of project that draws mass to it. The area, though great if you are interested in bondage gear, manholes, and bbq, will definitely get a shot in the arm from this.

Cleveland: Downtown: East 4th Street Developments
from the cleveland.com article about the store. I think it is as locally sourced as possible.

Zines! Need advice on an urbanist zine (how to do distro)
You will need to do direct connection with the retailers, once you have an actual product. It is essentially consignment, and it is really about personal selection. If someone sells zines, they read zines, so you need to write something that they care about. But ultimately, they put it up on the rack, maybe it sells, you collect the leftovers when you restock with new issues. Make a list of possible locations, write a nice letter, and include several of the zines in the stack. Maybe even say, the first month is free to retailers, but ask them to sell it at the cover price. Followup once you get the ball rolling. See if it is selling. There are small scale distributors of zines, but frankly, if you are writing something Dayton specific, hand to hand is probably as far as you need to go.

Cleveland: Restaurant News & Info
as I understand it, the empty space across from visible voice in tremont, formerly a dry cleaner and a pizza joint that ran afoul of zoning, is being rented and renovated by someone who, "already has a bakery on the west side." I for one look forward to walking twenty feet for baked goods.

Cleveland: Ohio City: Development and News
I am posting too early, double posted. I only meant to add that regarding ICA adjacency, it is possibly an art related entity, but not the ICA purchasing the building. To avoid rampant speculation.

Cleveland: Ohio City: Development and News
The building was sold in fall. Light Sculpture had run a foundry out of the space in a addition to the refinishing they did on sculpture work, so there it was pretty messy in there. I am surprised the purchaser is doing significant buildout, as I had been told that their interest in the building was for storage. It is possibly significant that the space is adjacent to the ICA building. In the meantime, the equipment of Light Sculpture has been moved to another space in the city. I am not certain if the business is back on its feet yet. Call them if you have a large bronze sculpture that needs a new patina or a commission that you need to pour. They do fantastic work. Examples include numerous sculptures in the cultural gardens and the tall green sculpture behind the library.

Cleveland: Tremont: Development and News
my littering comment was directly related to the development. :p the big sewer project at abby and west 11th will apparently stretch through winter, according to the construction workers on the job. I am interested if anyone knows what is happening at abby and west 19th?

Cleveland: MOCA
I am not interested in debating what you wrote, but to be sure I was responding to the suggestion of a donated collection. I am more talking about the kind of building that is designed. as it is, this could not house or maintain a permanent collection. any donation implies permanent collection.
