  1. Absolutely FABULOUS photos! Thanks much for posting.
  2. As Justhere stated, the building on the far right was an auto parts store. In 1962 when I attended Patterson Co-op High School in the in the auto mechanics program I used to have to walk there often to purchase parts. In the late 60's it became a fairly rough bar with "go go girls." (True story: I once had to make a rather ungracious exit by sneaking off to the men's room and crawling out the window, this after relations with three other gentleman became somewhat less than amicable. Hey, every man must know his limitations.) In the 70's or 80's it did an about face and became a gay bar. I have no idea what happened after that.
  3. Lovin' the wide angle lens! Absolutely gorgeous shots. Beautiful. My hats off to you.
  4. I well remember the Coke museum. The entire arcade was so VIBRANT then! Without the arcade there will never be a real downtown Dayton. Fantastic job, Jeffrey.
  5. Very interesting post. I enjoyed it very much. I seem to recall the town as having a very bad, tough rep back in the days when Dean Martin would have been growing up there. I'm just curious...are there any of Dean's old haunts still around town? Any mentions of him, ala, "Dean Martin slept here"..that kind of thing? Thanks for the post.
  6. Jeff, a very interesting and well done post. When I was growing up in the 50's and 60's this was my favorite part of town. I think I was sort of attracted to its seediness. I spent a lot of time browsing the pawn shops, catching the cheap movies at the Rialto and Ohio, and for sure, spending some quality time at the Mayfair! Something I've always wondered about...there were a lot of very large posters of the strippers that were on display inside the Mayfair. I wonder if anyone knows what became of them?[/img] They'd be real collectables today. Thanks for a most enjoyable post.
