Urban history/geography posts
Maybe a mapping/geography subforum like that could also be used to discuss GIS mapping and analysis if there is interest.

Dayton - Edwin C. Moses Boulevard
Sunrise lets the view of the river and downtown do the work. I don't think every park needs a statue and playground. (Although there is a playground, basketball courts, spraypark, and picnic shelter right across Edwin C. at McIntosh Park.) The main riverfront park in Dayton is Riverscape, which I guess might be more to your liking. Dayton is fortunate that an Interstate highway doesn't seperate downtown from its signature riverfront park.

I really enjoyed those!

Ladyfest Dayton
One interesting thing about living in this kind of market in this economy is the emergence (colonization?) of unique and creative uses such as the Dirt Collective, the creative incubator, and the Circus community garden at 4th and Wayne. Maybe the Art stuff in the Oregon District as well.

Goodbye Cincinnati.

Cincinnati: Green Township
Good thing they didn't let those wooded hillsides get in the way of progress. Needs more parking. Former Highlander here, by the way.

Detroit- 461 Piquette
I was there in 2003, when it was pretty much just a shell. It was still an awesome experience though...the building is so freaking long! At the time they had a few displays on easels, and a chair in the location of Ford's office, where thought and effort went into the development of the Model T. Many people think 'Highland Park' when they think of the Model T, but as you said, this is its birthplace--this is where the car that changed world was first built. Obviously, Highland Park because the assembly line was implemented there, but I don't think it is an exaggeration to say that this building had a huge impact on history, which is felt in our lives today. (Actually, some argue that the rudimentary beginnings of Ford's assembly line occurred at Piquette.) Aside from the unbelievable historical importance, this building benefitted from having a very dedicated champion, Dr. Fred Mitchell, and a capable board working for it.

Metro Cincinnati: Road & Highway News
The development at Rybolt/Harrison/I-74 is one of the worst areas I've ever seen in terms of traffic impact, environmental impact and aesthetic impact. I'll always be a west-sider at heart, but that disaster hurt my pride.

CLEVELAND - Pictures from a dying city
Living in a dead city myself (in what used to be called Dayton), this thread just made my day! Nice work. I was going to head down to Riverscape this afternoon, but thank goodness I've been informed it too is dead. And to think all of those people in the Oregon District last night were zombies.

Rittman, Ohio
The 'small town blight' pic might be my favorite, or at least in the top three...that says a lot.

Dayton Summer 2008
first, a few from the celtic festival ----- I just like this sign....downtown is all about character and image Courthouse Square...plus one of the CityLife sculptures in the foreground... Courthouse Square just before lunchtime I've never been to a Dayton Dirt Collective event before, but I love what they stand for and what they have accomplished Riverscape is looking awesome, always attracting a great mix of people I guess a new bar called 'Sidebar' is going in here...I think Dayton needs more fun and whimsical stuff like this New CareSource garage And, of course, the beautiful CareSource building

A very cute Greenville, SC
Yeah,I went to Clemson for grad school and then moved to G'ville. All I can say is I guess what is good for one young professional isn't necessarily good for another young professional. Which is a whole other discussion regarding all this Creatiive Class/YP stuff, but I'll save that for another day...

A very cute Greenville, SC
I'll add my photos, which are nothing compared to those above. I'll add that I've seen Greenville first on two lists recently: The Greenville-Spartanburg MSA has the lowest percentage of people living in its biggest city (only 5.8 percent of the population of the MSA resides in Greenville) and it is the city least affected by the current foreclosure crisis.
