Katz will be the museum's signature chef, in partnership with Bon Appetit Management, which will produce dishes for events held at the University Circle landmark. "I'm working on catering menus for the museum and will start working on restaurant menus as soon as catering has been finalized," he says. A late-October opening is anticipated, Katz says. Stanley Block building owners fined $15,000 a day for violating court orders Published: Tuesday, June 12, 2012, 4:32 PM Updated: Tuesday, June 12, 2012, 4:37 PM Michelle Jarboe McFee, The Plain Dealer Follow Share Email Print CLEVELAND, Ohio -- A judge has slapped $15,000 in daily fines on the company that owns the Stanley Block, after the downtown Cleveland property owner failed to file reports on safety procedures and repairs at the historic building. Cleveland Housing Court Judge Raymond Pianka found Macron Investment Co. in contempt last week, after the company missed several reporting deadlines. An attorney for Macron, which owns the historic building, also missed the June 6 contempt hearing. As of Tuesday, the fines had mounted to $90,000 -- a hefty tab for a company whose only asset is the Stanley Block, a vacant, four-story structure wrapped by the Horseshoe Casino Cleveland's new welcome center and valet-parking garage. http://www.cleveland.com/business/index.ssf/2012/06/stanley_block_building_owners.html

Both require a ton of $$$ to renovate...plus their being sold at very steep prices. Club Corbo's patio is the best in the nieghborhood...all brick, archways. Don't forget there was fire damage there years back. The old theater has water damage places so I've heard. Club Corbo was Corbo's Golden Bowl previously.

Cleveland Browns Discussion
Wha??? Cleveland Browns may be for sale, according to WIP in Philadelphia Published: Thursday, June 07, 2012, 5:39 PM Updated: Thursday, June 07, 2012, 5:54 PM Mary Kay Cabot, The Plain Dealer By Mary Kay Cabot, The Plain Dealer CLEVELAND --The Browns may be for sale, according to radio reporter Howard Eskin of WIP in Philadelphia. Eskin reported on his twitter account today that Former Eagles President Joe Banner is interested in putting together a group to buy the Buffalo Bills, and the Browns and St. Louis Rams may also be for sale. A Browns source said he hadn't heard anything about the Browns possibly being for sale. "It's my understanding that the Bills are (Banner's)first priority,'' said Eskin. "I was also told by an NFL source that Cleveland and St. Louis may be for sale, but Joe's first order of business from what I was told was Buffalo, if in fact he can get that money together and do all of those things. "Cleveland and St. Louis were secondary in the information that I got...I was told my somebody I truly, truly respect with information, but outside of that, I know nothing further.'' http://www.cleveland.com/browns/index.ssf/2012/06/cleveland_browns_may_be_for_sa.html

rising star coffee roasters now open in ohio city firehouse Thursday, June 07, 2012 Kim Jenkins of Rising Star Coffee traded his job overseeing 110 scientists and engineers at Lockheed Martin in Florida to move to Spencer, Ohio, and launch a new coffee roaster in Cleveland. Given his background in driving technological innovation, it comes as no surprise that his approach to roasting the best possible coffee beans is, well, innovative. "Specialty grade coffee is the top half to one percent of coffee beans on the market, and that's all we do," says Jenkins, who recently set up shop in the Ohio City Firehouse building on W. 29th Street. "Coffee is the second largest commodity trade after crude oil, and there's plenty of room for growth in Northeast Ohio." Jenkins' plan is to sell beans wholesale while also marketing to individual consumers and selling coffee by the cup. He's capitalizing on rising consumer interest in the highest-grade coffee, he says. His model appears to be working, as his fledgling company is gaining at least one wholesale customer per week. (The retail operation is still in the works.) http://www.freshwatercleveland.com/devnews/risingstarcoffee060712.aspx

modern hostel to cater to travelers who aim to experience cleveland rather than simply visit it Erin O'Brien | Thursday, June 07, 2012 As the West Side Market prepares to celebrate its 100th birthday, a brand new entity is sprouting just one block south of the venerable food hall. The Cleveland Hostel, which is scheduled to open later this month, will be the area's only modern hostel catering to travelers who aim to experience American cities rather than simply visit them. The hostel, which is currently taking shape in the space adjacent to Campbell's Sweets Factory, will boast 60 beds, a fully equipped kitchen, bike rental and a spectacular rooftop patio. Prices per night start as low as $20. The project's founder, Mark Raymond, will act as proprietor and full-time resident. With a master's degree in urban planning, Raymond has traveled and hostelled for more than 10 years, visiting some 70 countries. In 2010, after a stint working at a ski resort in Alta, Utah, Raymond returned to Cleveland with his idea. The hostel will ironically -- and, perhaps, poetically -- connect Raymond's passion for wanderlust with his hometown, thus enabling him to showcase Cleveland via a unique, affordable venue. http://www.freshwatercleveland.com/features/clevelandhostel060712.aspx

Cleveland: North Collinwood / Waterloo Arts District: Development and News
Whatcha say?? A Big Turn On Can Alan Glazen ignite Waterloo Rd? by Douglas Trattner Imagine igniting an entire neighborhood with the proverbial flick of a switch. That's what entrepreneur Alan Glazen has in mind for the North Shores Collinwood neighborhood, specifically the stretch of Waterloo Road by the Beachland Ballroom. Rather than open one new restaurant in the underperforming neighborhood, Glazen is working with multiple parties to simultaneously launch five — instantly turning the area into a destination. "I'm calling it Project Light Switch," says the 62-year-old owner of ABC Tavern, XYX the Tavern, and Viaduct Lounge. "I'm so excited about the idea of the best people in the city combining to go turn on a neighborhood." While far from a sure thing — Glazen puts the odds at around 30 percent — the obstacles continue to melt away. Glazen has spoken to all of the city's best chefs and operators, many of whom have expressed a desire to be a part of the project. Those chefs include Michael Symon, Jonathon Sawyer, Steve Schimoler, and others. Real estate deals are all but done on five separate spaces in the immediate area. "This began just as an idea but now I feel like there is no reason I can't pull this off," says Glazen. "I'm in a unique position to get this done; I can afford the altruism." http://www.clevescene.com/cleveland/a-big-turn-on/Content?oid=2984073
