  1. Dream sheet :) Med Mart Releases List of "Top-Tier Targets" Posted by Vince Grzegorek on Mon, Nov 14, 2011 at 12:30 PM The Med Mart — which may sell hospital supplies, or offer continuing education, or become a big coffee shop where single doctors do speed dating — released its list of "top-tier targets" recently. These are the big name, big money companies that, if the Med Mart landed them, would lend an instant air of credibility to the project. http://www.clevescene.com/scene-and-heard/archives/2011/11/14/med-mart-releases-list-of-top-tier-targets ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ TARGETS: http://www.medcitynews.com/2011/11/cleveland-medical-marts-top-tier-tenant-targets/?edition=ohio

  3. Plan unveiled for developing Cleveland's lakefront Mayor Frank Jackson meets with stakeholders and reporters. Jackson admits they need money for this project but they're confident it will happen. The city is applying for grants, investing in the short term and is working with partners to get long term investments. The plan puts the lakefront into three development areas including Harbor West, North Coast Harbor and the Burke Development District area. It calls for 3.5 million square feet in new development including office space, a hotel, green space, restaurants, retail space, recreational boating, and a transient marina. It also creates a public space that can be used for special events. Four pieces of legislation will be introduced to Cleveland City Council tonight so it can move forward and the plan will be presented to the City Planning Commission on Friday. Public hearings will take place over the next three months. Read more: http://www.wtam.com/cc-common/news/sections/newsarticle.html?feed=122520&article=9393658#ixzz1diTjSYI7
  4. Fingers crossed this is part of the Lakefront announcement plan ;) Agreed I would rather have this than a new Public Square.
  5. What time is the press conference today?
  6. Reminder this will take place this week: I'll be there, if anyone else wants to sit with me.
  7. I've said it before-- if this tower gets built, I would do whatever it takes to get a condo there. (barring crappy interior layout)

  9. Cleveland: New Collinwood rec center shines CLEVELAND -- Saturday will be a landmark day in Collinwood history. Officials will cut a ribbon and a new recreation center will open in the community after a 20-year battle to pick a location and get it built. It's the city's first new rec center in 14 years. http://www.wkyc.com/news/article/214642/3/Cleveland-New-Collinwood-rec-center-shines

  15. I'll update this thing soon...i promise... Sparx City Hop this Saturday: http://blog.cleveland.com/metro/2011/11/sparx_city_hop_rescheduled_for.html
  16. Two things: 1) People were staking the ground for the footprint of the new Case Western Reserve student center yesterday. 2) The last available storefront on Euclid Ave (the old Uptown Grille space), now has a sign in the window saying "Snavely Construction...since 1950." The same Snavely Construction who will be building the 8-story hotel immediately behind the property.
  17. Testing phase must be over, the paneling (same color) is going back up on the north structure.
  18. Today's front page: Sam McNulty is helping transform West 25th Street, one bar and beer at a time Published: Monday, November 07, 2011, 6:00 AM Updated: Monday, November 07, 2011, 12:12 PM John Petkovic, The Plain Dealer By John Petkovic, The Plain Dealer McNulty, 36, owns three other bars within a bottle's throw of Market Garden: Bar Cento, Speakeasy and Bier Markt. He's also a relentless booster of West 25th Street, extolling the virtues of neighborhood establishments. Or housing on the street. Or the park at West 25th and Lorain. McNulty's enthusiasm is well placed, says Great Lakes Brewing Co. founder Patrick Conway. "The neighborhood is busier than it's been in a long time, thanks to the opening of places such as Market Garden or Crop," says Conway, referring to the latest additions to West 25th. "There's a renaissance taking place like I haven't seen in the 23 years that I've been here -- and the whole neighborhood is benefiting." Celebrations pegged to the centennial of the West Side Market in 2012 promise to increase business even more -- though McNulty is quick to point out that it's hustle and bustle more than sales that has him excited. "My partners would kill me if they heard me say this, but I'm not in this for the money," he says. "This is my passion -- to be part of a walkable urban neighborhood that's making a comeback." http://www.cleveland.com/entertainment/index.ssf/2011/11/sam_mcnulty_is_helping_transfo.html
  19. The flashy lights and glitz and glamor of University Circle!! ;)
  20. AWESOME article! For me, this article is more than "E. 4th." His impact on the city is sky rocketing: - E.4th - Tudor Arms Renovation - Uptown in University Circle - Ohio City I think I'm liking this guy.
  21. They have removed the paneling. Zero skin on Uptown.
  22. I am really happy with this project, it will be a nice addition to the circle. With regards to athletic fields it does say playfield surrounded by what looks like a track. This may just be an open practice field but it could also have the potential for a future stadium. Its all gone. John Hay's stadium was dismantled prior to the renovation of the school. There field was on the Carnegie side of the property where the parking lots are now. Where does John Hay currently play and why don't they use Case Stadium?
  23. Case snags some more $$$: Coulter Foundation, CWRU establish $20M endowment for biomedical engineering projects Posted: November 2nd, 2011 | Author: thedaily | Filed under: news | No Comments » Case Western Reserve University and the Wallace H. Coulter Foundation have established a $20 million endowment to support the translation of ideas that address unmet medical needs into treatments and devices that improve human health. The foundation and university jointly created the endowment after the foundation’s original $4.8 million partnership grant, which funded projects at the university from 2006 to 2011. The new endowment will enable the Wallace H. Coulter Translational Research Partnership program at Case Western Reserve to continue in perpetuity. Case Western Reserve was one of only nine universities in the United States selected to participate in the Coulter Foundation’s Translational Research Partnerships in Biomedical Engineering, and one of only six to receive endowment funding; the others are Drexel University, Duke University, University of Michigan, Stanford University and University of Virginia. The generous initial grant of $4.8 million from the foundation was bolstered in 2009 with $2.25 million in private gifts to the university from anonymous donors. The program at Case Western Reserve has helped launch six startup companies and has funded 62 translational research projects to date. Such projects range across a broad spectrum of biomedical disciplines—from advanced imaging technology techniques to thermally-stable insulin development—and each is founded on an active collaboration between a biomedical engineering researcher and a practicing clinician. http://thedaily.case.edu/news/?p=3575
  24. More momentum   Developer plans to rehab Euclid Ave. site for lab space Victory Building seen as Health-Tech Corridor asset By JAY MILLER 4:30 am, October 31, 2011 A new owner, a change in strategy and some public money are enabling a vacant building that almost rubs shoulders with the Cleveland Clinic to be rehabilitated. Garson Victory LLC, a partnership led by real estate broker Scott Garson, plans a $24 million transformation of the four-story, red brick Victory Building at 7012 Euclid Ave. into a mixed-use complex that could serve tenants in need of office, research and laboratory space. The investment would open 165,000 square feet for growing businesses in what's called the Health-Tech Corridor between downtown and Cleveland Clinic. “One of our most successful strategies is to take businesses from the incubators and keep them in the city of Cleveland to grow here instead of moving to the suburbs, as many have in the past,” Tracey Nichols, Cleveland's director of economic development, told a City Council committee Oct. 24 in support of the city's financial assistance. The legislation authorizing the plan was passed by council that evening. http://www.crainscleveland.com/article/20111031/SUB1/310319983#
