Cleveland: Warehouse District: Development and News
A recap from Crains: Don't stick a fork in the Warehouse District just yet Its restaurants lie amid $2 billion in development. But will safety issues and competitors derail their place in Cleveland's culinary landscape? By KATHY AMES CARR 4:30 am, July 11, 2011 Has the Warehouse District restaurant scene lost its mojo? Some say what was once the sizzling restaurant hub of downtown Cleveland is fizzling. Others reject that view, contending instead that the district's restaurant mix is undergoing a transition and is poised to gain steam when the city's $2 billion in development projects materialize. “The casino, medical mart and convention center and Flats East Bank form a triangle, and the Warehouse District is right in the middle of it,” said Thomas Yablonsky, executive director of the Historic Warehouse District Development Corp. http://www.crainscleveland.com/article/20110711/SUB1/307119982

Although I did not think this was significant enough to be in the "Demolition" thread, the house that caught fire on E.120 was demolished today: The houses on both sides have been restored from their fire damage. No word on if there will be any infill, garden, parking lot...etc

Cleveland: Downtown: John Hartness Brown Buildings / Euclid Grand
WHOA...I had no idea so much rehab and partnership. And, this quote is my favorite: "The adjacent non-historical building located at 1101 Euclid Ave is proposed to be included in the redevelopment plan so that no vacant buildings will remain on the north side of Euclid Ave from Public Square to Playhouse Square (at East 17th Street) once this project is complete.”

Cleveland-Intl Space Station Lab
It looks like NASA may not be in that big of a hurry to pick a manager or location: With shuttle program ending, it's time to see what space station can do By Scott Powers, McClatchy-Tribune News Service July 6, 2011 In hopes of generating more space-related jobs, DiBello’s Space Florida has set up a new nonprofit called The Center for The Advancement of Science in Space that seeks to run part of the station’s science program. The station has four users. A partnership of the European Space Agency, Japan, Russia, Canada, Brazil and others, controlled by an international board, uses about a quarter of the station’s resources and astronaut time. The rest is divided between NASA, the U.S. Department of Defense and a NASA-administered national laboratory open to private companies, universities and individual scientists. DiBello has submitted a still-sealed bid to run the national laboratory. Cleveland-based Space Laboratory Associates, a partnership of Battelle Memorial Institute of Ohio and a consortium of research universities, has also bid, and there are reports that at least two other universities have as well. NASA must pick a manager by Oct. 1. Read more: http://www.vancouversun.com/technology/space-shuttle/With+shuttle+program+ending+time+what+space+station/5059219/story.html#ixzz1RZGC1ZWz

Cleveland: HealthLine / Euclid Corridor
I rode the Healthline today, and I gotta say today was the most packed I've ever seen it. It was 1:30 in the afternoon and every possible place to stand was taken. I'm wondering if they'll consider having higher frequency of vehicles as University Circle, Cleveland Clinic, Cleveland State, and Midtown continue to expand.
