Yeah there's still paneling to do at least there and at the top right corner of that side. Constructrion crews are still on site even though they had an open house two weekends ago.

Cleveland: Wind Turbine Construction News
Fingers crossed on good news... Wind turbine at Port of Cleveland will rise 260 feet above Lincoln Electric's headquarters Published: Monday, April 25, 2011, 12:18 PM Updated: Monday, April 25, 2011, 12:58 PM By John Funk, The Plain Dealer The Plain Dealer CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Greater Cleveland took a giant step into what it hopes will be its manufacturing future this morning as longshoremen at the Port of Cleveland began unloading a European-made wind turbine. Kenersys is considering building a manufacturing facility in Northeast Ohio. The task force hopes to put even larger turbines in Lake Erie. Lincoln manufactures precise, robotic welding equipment needed to weld turbine tower sections together. The company plans to have the Kenersys turbine installed at its Euclid headquarters by late May. It will be the largest turbine in Ohio. http://www.cleveland.com/business/index.ssf/2011/04/lincoln_electrics_wind_turbine.html

Cleveland: Ohio City: Development and News
Should this be in a different thread? I thought we used to have a W.25 st thread... Community leaders eye a quick cleanup on West 25th Street Along with employers, they're strategizing on how to revitalize corridor between zoo, market By JAY MILLER 4:30 am, April 25, 2011 People are beginning to pay attention to a tattered stretch of one of the West Side's main streets. A group of employers and community leaders have begun meeting to plot a strategy for improving the look of a three-mile stretch of West 25th Street in Cleveland and linking a group of island neighborhoods into a cohesive residential and employment district. The hope is to spark redevelopment of the neighborhood comparable to what is occurring in the nearby Detroit-Shoreway neighborhood and in the Midtown area east of downtown. Sparking this community effort is the growth of two large employers — MetroHealth Medical Center and L.J. Minor Co. — in the middle of the corridor; coming changes in traffic flow; and an expected increase in tourist traffic through the corridor with the opening of the new African Elephant Crossing exhibit at the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo and the development of the Cuyahoga Valley scenic byway. The segment of West 25th that is the topic of discussion runs from Ohio City and the West Side Market on the north end of the road and the zoo on the south. Cleveland City Councilman Brian Cummins, who inherited much of the southern end of the corridor when City Council redistricted before the 2009 election, said a first meeting this month brought together many of the stakeholders in the area to see if they could develop a coordinated effort to improve the look and feel of the thoroughfare. The corridor has suffered in part because the area lacks strong neighborhood development groups that could help fight the residential and commercial deterioration on West 25th. “Hell, we can't even get banners on the street,” Mr. Cummins said. http://www.crainscleveland.com/article/20110425/SUB1/304259985

Canton-Massillon: Random Development and News
MuRrAy HiLL replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Northeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionSouth of Canton is the small city of Dover. There's talk of abandoning their old high school...located downtown on Fifth St, and built in 1915 with a 1938 addition. The State's current policy is very anti-urban and anti-rehab. Ohio is offering Dover $9 million if they build new high school...and right now t on a property on the nothern outskirts of town which is currently farmland. BUT....Why can't they offer the same money to rehab the existing, centrally-located structure?? The school creates life on the streets down there. http://www.timesreporter.com/communities/x128432705/More-plans-revealed-for-Dover-High-project

Cleveland: Case Western Reserve University News & Info
This has been all over the world science new these past two days. Case Western has finally begun cashing in on some of its patents and inventions...hopefully this can bring some additional money to the University: New kind of plastic can repair itself when exposed to light Scientists develop self-healing plastic which could eradicate scratches on cars BY: Chris Davies | Thu Apr 21, 2011 Scientists have developed a polymer-based material that can heal itself when exposed to ultraviolet light. The team of researchers at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland believe that the new material could extend the lifetime of polymer-based products as well as being used a paint coating for the automotive industry. When exposed to intense ultraviolet light, the assembled metallo-supramolecular polymers are temporarily unglued. This transforms the solid material into a liquid that flows easily. When the light is switched off or the material enters darkness, the polymer re-assembles and solidifies so original properties are restored. http://www.manufacturingdigital.com/tags/plastics/new-kind-plastic-can-repair-itself-when-exposed-light

Cleveland: Lakefront Development and News
Man, residential down there would sell like hotcakes...both condo and apts. I'll buy one if they call it "Browns Town" (like Wrigleyville in Chicago) :D And what about a Cleveland Browns HOF/History Musuem down there. That alone would be a cheap and easy spin off for the nearby storefronts to be.

^ This is amazing news for Case. Having an interim dean for so long hurt their rankings (along with too large of class sizes as mentioned above.) Not to mention, the guy they got for the job seems like a very solid pick.

This pretty funny...did anyone see this live?? ESPN, Oprah surprise Cleveland man with date to be a guest sportscaster Published: Monday, April 18, 2011, 4:56 PM Updated: Tuesday, April 19, 2011, 6:30 AM By Mark Dawidziak, The Plain Dealer The Plain Dealer Ron Brown was sitting in the bar of a Winking Lizard restaurant Sunday evening when he heard his name mentioned by an ESPN "SportsCenter" anchor. Brown, who lives in Cleveland, was sitting with his best friend, James Hill, who had invited him to the Winking Lizard on Huron Road in Cleveland. It was a setup, as Brown learned. "Well, it seems that Ron's best friend, James Hill, wrote into 'The Oprah Winfrey Show' and asked if they could hook him up with a reporting gig for his favorite sports network, ESPN," said Negandhi's co-anchor, Ryan Burr, according to a transcript provided by ESPN. "So, Ron are you watching?" He was. Negandhi then dropped the big news: "Ron Brown of Cleveland, Ohio, we're talking to you. Yes, you Ron Brown. Listen up. Here's the deal. We're sending you on assignment. You're going to interview one of the biggest stars in the NBA, Derrick Rose of the Chicago Bulls." "And after your interview, you're going to head back here to our ESPN anchor desk to give us the lowdown," Burr said. http://www.cleveland.com/tv-blog/index.ssf/2011/04/espn_oprah_surprise_cleveland_man_with_date_to_be_a_guest_sportscaster.html
