Ohio predicted to have the top 4 strongest house markets for 2010
Maybe these predictions are holding true...(although it's 2011 now): Topping the company’s Home Data Index was the Cleveland, Ohio, metro area where the index increased by 8.1 percent. Nationally, prices slipped 1.6 percent. But Clear Capital said that U.S. home prices stopped declining in early January and rose for the first time since mid-August 2010. http://www.pbn.com/Providence-metro-area-home-prices-show-gains,55339 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Another source to include Dayton for quarterly: Major markets in the U.S. are showing early signs of coming out of winter hibernation. Thirteen of the highest performing markets posted positive quarterly gains. Four MSAs posted large quarterly gains as compared to last month's report -- Cleveland (12.6) and Dayton (9.6), Ohio; along with Houston (6.8), and Chicago (6.3); experienced the biggest quarterly percentage point improvements. Only Detroit, MI; Fresno, CA; Las Vegas, NV; Raleigh, NC; San Francisco, CA; and Tampa, FL experienced larger quarterly price declines over last month. Detroit's -12.4 percent quarterly price change is up 2.7 percentage points from the end of December as the MSA continues to be dogged by high levels of distressed housing activity and a troubled economic environment with double digit unemployment throughout the state. http://www.sys-con.com/node/1701201

WOW, that's a ton of info before the press conference! Glad to see it's still on schedule. "There will be two ways to enter the casino -- the building's existing entrances off Public Square and Prospect Road." How about that for potential spin-off, especially along Prospect and E.4th.

Ok, I still can't believe the PD or any of our local news stations have not carried this story. CWRU, in Cleveland OH, led the NATION in rise of applicants by percentage for 2010-2011. Why did I have to read about it in the NYTimes?

Cleveland: 2012 Democratic National Convention?
I wonder why city leaders didn't push harder for this. The $$$ and publicity would have be tremendous. It seemed like both the city leaders and media pushed Charlotte's chances in the spotlight almost weekly. The last PD article about Cleveland wanting the DNC was... July 2010. Are these the same people who endorsed John Kasich for Governor?

Cleveland: Local Media News & Discussion
Jim Rome is upset with WKNR's change in programming, and I would be too. Jim actually really likes Cleveland: Jim Rome Not Pleased With WKNR’s Programming Decision Written By: Craig Lyndall | Category: General | Comments: 47 Jim Rome has been immensely popular in Cleveland for a long time. He has had multiple tour stops in Cleveland and his visit to WKNR studios in the Cleveland Galleria last year was a blockbuster for this city. That’s why it is so surprising that WKNR decided to interfere with Rome’s nationally syndicated show when making some programming changes recently. The new lineup looks like this. Mike & Mike in the Morning will continue to be carried from 6:00 AM to 9:00 AM. The Really Big Show with Tony Rizzo gets an extra hour from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM. This pushes the first hour of the Jim Rome show (from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM) to KNR2 on 1540 AM. Then the final two hours of Rome’s show will continue back on the flagship station 850 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM. Only station owner Craig Karmazin knows for sure. Is he trying to boost the profile of KNR2? Jim Rome certainly thinks so and he didn’t mince words on his show yesterday. ”It’s not the first time a station has done this to the show… Right now we have more stations than we’ve ever had before.” Then he dropped a bomb. “In this particular case, in this market, in that city, on that town, it bothers me more than any other market because of the nature of our relationship… It’s Cleveland. It’s a very important market to me.” http://www.waitingfornextyear.com/2011/01/jim-rome-not-pleased-with-wknrs-programming-decision/

Well U of Chicago had an increase of 12% for this year while CWRU had an increase of 45%--very comparable schools. I don't see "staying closer to home" national trend with this data, or at least enough to justify case's spike as being local, especially when compared to the metro size proportions.
