  12. rebels... Bishop warns the Rev. Robert Marrone to stop breakaway church Masses Published: Sunday, January 23, 2011, 6:03 PM By Michael O'Malley, The Plain Dealer CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Bishop Richard Lennon of the Cleveland Catholic Diocese has threatened the Rev. Robert Marrone with punishment through church law for celebrating unauthorized Masses in a breakaway church. Marrone and his congregation set up worship space in a commercial building in August, four months after Lennon closed their parish, St. Peter's near downtown Cleveland. On Wednesday, Lennon handed Marrone a letter saying the priest was engaged in "scandal" and "corruption" by saying Masses in a space not sanctioned by the diocese. He told Marrone he expected him to resign from the breakaway group within 48 hours or face "canonical action," a warning that left Marrone with the choice of remaining faithful to his congregation or to his bishop. http://www.cleveland.com/religion/index.ssf/2011/01/bishop_warns_the_rev_robert_ma.html

  15. This is HUGE news for the Clinic and its innovation and commercialization ambitions: Prominent hand surgeon returns to Clinic to lead Innovations unit: Cleveland Portraits Published: Monday, January 24, 2011, 5:45 AM By Brie Zeltner, The Plain Dealer Graham began his career at the Cleveland Clinic in 1994 and left six years later to head the Curtis National Hand Center in Baltimore, only the third person to hold the position since the center opened in 1947. He returned to the hospital in June to serve as chairman of Cleveland Clinic Innovations, the corporate venturing unit that commercializes Clinic inventions, and as vice chairman of orthopedic surgery. Graham has more than two dozen patents in his field, including the most commonly used elbow-replacement system on the market. He will use his expertise to help turn the ideas of Clinic physicians into marketable products. The surgeon's connections in Maryland have already brought about a new relationship for Cleveland Clinic Innovations: Last week, the department partnered with MedStar Health, a nine-hospital system that serves the Maryland and Washington, D.C., region, to develop the ideas of that system's physicians. Graham had been working on the deal since his arrival and hopes that it will lead to further collaboration. "It seemed like a natural marriage," said Graham, who will spend about 70 percent of his time focused on the Innovations position and the rest on his surgical practice. "I think it will bear fruit in commercialization opportunities and clinical sharing, enhance scientific inquiry and impact both communities." http://www.cleveland.com/healthfit/index.ssf/2011/01/prominent_hand_surgeon_returns.html
  16. Expanded business hours for Luchita Express in the Commodore Place building--they will now be open for Breakfast starting at 9 am. Also, remember that Murray Hill Market is open for Breakfast, meaning two more much needed breakfast places have opened in University Circle. Also, the Indian Flame renovations are complete and the place has reopened. Circle Convenience is about a week away from reopening from their renovations. Lastly, the Case Western KSL library is currently installing a first floor café. Construction is [noisily] happening as I type this.
