  3. The NYTimes has a city by city breakdown: http://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2010/12/13/us/politics/20101213conventioncity.html I went to the Obama appearance for the midterms and still couldn't believe we could only fill the Wolstein Center halfway for a FREE event...
  4. TONIGHT, Dec 10 at 7:30 PM, is the FREE CityMusic Cleveland Holiday Concert @ St. Stanislaus (Slavic Village). If you happen to be one of those people who have never stepped foot into Cleveland's most ornate church, I highly recommend checking it out tonight. What better than to the backdrop of Holiday Music! http://www.ststanislaus.org/events.html
  5. Wow.....now that is a response! Personally, I'm liking the "MMPI, Cuyahoga County, and the City of Cleveland recently signed the definitive agreement and signed contracts on the properties, including the current buildings at the corner of St. Clair and Ontario Streets and the Cleveland Convention Center, to allow abatement, demolition, and construction to begin in January 2011." :-D :-D
  6. Side note, if anyone knows what that space rents for, please PM me.
  7. Some big news in Slavic Village: Slavic Village welcomes the president of Poland Thursday http://blog.cleveland.com/metro/2010/12/slavic_village_welcomes_the_pr.html

Demolition crews have been working through the storm today and the corner triangle building is now completely demolished. The piles of rubble are being hauled away. I'd bet that it won't be too long before the site is ready for construction.
  9. Cleveland State won again tonight and are now 11-0. I'm pretty certain they have the most wins of any d1 college bball team in the country.
  10. Cleveland Port Authority looks to improve its operation. http://www.crainscleveland.com/article/20101207/FREE/101209867 "Brent Leslie, the Port Authority's chief financial officer, told board members at a committee meeting this morning that the Ohio Development Finance Advisory Council has approved the Port Authority's application for a $3 million state logistics and distribution loan. The Port Authority would use the money, and $1 million of its own money, to add 5,000 feet of track to its rail spur on the docks in order to make the transfer of cargo from ships to rail easier." "Jeff Sweeney of Martin Associates, a Lancaster, Pa., transportation consulting firm, told board members that if the stars line up correctly cargo through the Port of Cleveland could more than double by 2020"
  11. Here's a new article. According to this, we should see some work very soon: http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2010-12-06/cleveland-bets-465-million-vornado-can-revamp-economy-as-health-care-hub.html

I'm not sure if everyone heard, but the Heat were greeted at the Cleveland airport with Fire Trucks upon their 2:30 AM arrival for "plane trouble". If this was planned....outstanding. http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/basketball/2010/12/02/2010-12-02_welcome_home_lebron_james_miami_heats_plane_has_trouble_on_trip_into_cleveland_.html

They have $$$. I personally a little worried about security. Not from the Qatari's themselves, but it will be very easy for extremists to cross into the borders and blend in prior to the events.

Here are a few pics of my pictures of the Doha Skyline. Correct, everything will be air-conditioned.

I lived in that country for 5 months. Doha is a city completely under construction and booming. Besides, the price has ordered 200 more skyscrapers be built by the year 2022.
  17. Awesome. Thanks!
  18. Great article and much needed press by the PD.

  23. We have an empty storefront... Teresa's pizza is now closed.
  24. I had the most relaxing afternoon. I finally tried the Flamming Ice Cube ( great burger!) and had a coffee from Erie Island Coffee Co and took them both to the Arcade--a very relaxing time watching them set up Christmas decorations... Now for the sad news: Teresa's Pizza is no more. I'm not sure if this has been mentioned before, but it appears it has closed fairly recently. Hopefully the storefront can be filled soon...retail please...
