$65 a night at the arcade hyatt?!?!! he destroyed my $99 price from a few yrs ago. grrrr! I'm guessing he booked off hotwire or an equivalent. I've stayed twice at the Hyatt this past month and had my room at $64 plus tax via hotwire. (Great steal for NBA playoffs lodgng BTW.) But i agree that it's great to see an indepth sports blog without too much negative bias towards the hometown being visited.

Ohio Census / Population Trends & Lists
Census-takers may have lots of counting to do in Cleveland By Robert L. Smith, The Plain Dealer April 15, 2010, 4:00AM CLEVELAND, Ohio -- As the end of the mail-in portion of Census 2010 approaches -- a deadline that will trigger the arrival of census-takers -- the U.S. Census Bureau is waiting to hear back from nearly half the households of Cleveland. As of Wednesday, only about 55 percent of Cleveland addresses had filled out the 10-question form and mailed it back, compared to the national return rate of 67 percent. http://blog.cleveland.com/metro/2010/04/census-takers_may_have_lots_of.html

Cleveland Guardians Discussion
Thank God we had an Indians victory today! I've actually been a little depressed with all the Cleveland teams losing this past week and a half ( Lebron-less Cavs, Gladiators, and Indians) On a side note, I've found an interesting blog from a traveler seeing all the MLB stadiums: http://www.theglobeandmail.com/sports/baseball/stealing-home/history-in-cleveland/article1535609/

Cleveland newbie "dumb" questions
Well I just got an answer to my own question: "Unfortunately, no, the bike rental service will not be open this summer. We are postponing the opening date for later in the season. You can, however, rent bikes for the Ohio City Bicycle Coop, which is a neighborhood just west of downtown. http://www.ohiocitycycles.org/" - DCA

I'm not that new, BUT... Are the bike rentals on E.4th up and running yet?

I know they're still working on it, but it's a more complex thing than they had imagined. Fair point about the beer, but it was a Bud Light. Doesn't taste good warm. I too had a "warm beer experience there". And it's a shame because I bought a round of dortmunders for them and the glasses were warm like they had just came out of the dishwasher. Ever hear of chilled beer glasses?? ( or at least not warm?)

I'm concerned/confused too. Everything from the random-a$$ bottled beer selection that collects dust (there's no description what any of it is) to the lack of jazz and piano music from what I thought was a "jazz bar." I've heard rap music out of there recently with what I thought was a DJ. Did ownership change in the past year? I'm pretty sure it's a woman now, and I thought it used to be a father and son(s).

Cleveland: Case Western Reserve University News & Info
Case Western Reserve University medical school leads electronic records initiative By Sarah Jane Tribble, The Plain Dealer April 14, 2010, 6:30AM CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine announced Tuesday that it will lead a nearly $8 million initiative to promote the use of electronic medical records among nearly 1,795 Northeast Ohio providers, especially family physicians. The effort -- which will include a number of community organizations and institutions such as the Cleveland Clinic, University Hospitals and MetroHealth System -- is funded by a federal stimulus grant, directed toward improving patient care. http://www.cleveland.com/healthfit/index.ssf/2010/04/case_western_reserve_universit_4.html

Moving to Cleveland this June..help please!
Congrats and great choice! Like others have alluded to, you have a direct link to work via the Healthline right outside your door. It's a 15 min ride max. You'll be moving in right during Cavs playoff time, so it might be a little busy downtown!

Ohio Census / Population Trends & Lists
Cleveland Mayor Frank Jackson encouraging residents to complete census forms By Mark Gillispie, The Plain Dealer April 13, 2010, 1:37PM CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Mayor Frank Jackson will attend what the city is calling a "Census Blitz" from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Euclid Beach Gardens Community Room, 16001 Euclid Beach Blvd. The event, which will include a resource fair, is aimed at encouraging Cleveland residents to fill out their census forms so they are included in the nation's official count. City officials say it's vital for residents to participate in the census because the count affects how much federal money Cleveland receives for services such as senior programs, education, health care and road repairs. As of April 1, only 35 percent of Clevelanders had returned their census forms, compared with the national average of 52 percent. People have until Friday to mail back census forms. http://blog.cleveland.com/metro/2010/04/cleveland_mayor_frank_jackson_11.html

Case Western Reserve University Spartans Athletics Discussion
Good Luck to Dan Whalen on his NFL tryout! Cleveland Browns get firsthand look at CWRU QB Dan Whalen The Case Western Reserve University quarterback was pleased with his workout for the Browns on Sunday, saying, "I think it went great. Honestly, probably my best one so far. I threw 75 passes on my count and missed on only three or four balls. Hopefully, I raised some eyebrows." It probably was Whalen's last formal workout before the April 22-24 NFL draft. He's hoping to gain at least an invitation to an NFL rookie minicamp workout if he isn't drafted. If not, Whalen probably will proceed with his career in the Canadian Football League. Calgary owns his rights. CFL training camps open on June 2. http://www.cleveland.com/browns/index.ssf/2010/04/cleveland_browns_get_first-han.html
