The empty storefront at Murray Hill and Cornell/Edgehilll be getting a new pizza place (very close to Valentino's to the owners dismay). The owner is the same owner as Gusto. I believe they've already started converting it.

Case Western Reserve University Spartans Athletics Discussion
http://www.case.edu/athletics/varsity/news.htm#s1_page2 August 4, 2009 FOOTBALL TEAM RECEIVES ANOTHER TOP 20 RANKING... CLEVELAND, OH - The Case Western Reserve University football team has been ranked No. 16 in the country in the D3Football.com Preseason Top 25 National Poll. The announcement was made on the popular NCAA Division III website today. Case Western Reserve had previously been ranked No. 20 in the Sporting News’ 2009 College Football publication. “We have a lot of experienced kids coming back and I understand that expectations are high,” Head Coach Greg Debeljak explained. “Polls really don’t mean much until week 10, so we will take it with a grain of salt, but we are also appreciative of the respect people are giving us.” The Spartans enter the 2009 season having won 21 consecutive regular season games dating back to November 11, 2006 which includes back-to-back undefeated [10-0] seasons in 2007 and 2008. They have also claimed two straight [three overall, 1996] University Athletic Association (UAA) Championships and received an NCAA postseason bid in each of the last two seasons. Last year, the Spartans finished 18th in the country (NCAA Division III) in scoring offense, averaging 37.8 points per game, and finished 10th nationally in scoring defense, allowing just 13.9 points per game. That defense allowed only 17 first half points and shut their opponents out 8 times in the first 30 minutes during the regular season. “It [being ranked] puts a target on your back,” Debeljak explained. “Teams get a little more fired up playing a ranked team than an unranked team. I think our kids enjoy that though and like to defend what they feel they worked hard for and that’s respect.” Case Western Reserve lost a 20-17 heartbreaker last year in round one of the NCAA playoffs at home to Wabash College, a team that defeated them, 38-23, in round two of the NCAA postseason in 2007. They kick-off the 2009 regular season at home with a Heritage Day game against Kenyon College at 12:00 p.m. The Spartans ranked 18th in turnover margin a year ago, only giving the ball up 1.2 times per game. Another thing they will not want to give up this year is the UAA title.

Greater Youngstown Italian Fest
The more I travel, the more I realize cavatelli must be a NEO thing. I'm guessing Sicilian influence...It's funny because it's always a staple item at italian festivals/restaurants around here, and most places have never heard of it. (simple folded over pasta if anyone doesn't eat it reguarly!) I was in Raleigh this past weekend and I had an OSU hat on, and one of the chefs came up to me after spotting my hat from across the room. He said he grew up in Mayfield Hts and was starting to miss Ohio...then he paused and said "and that was the last time I ate Cavatelli and meatballs too..."

Cleveland Guardians Discussion
Martinez bids Tribe a tearful goodbye Veteran catcher's professionalism, emotion on display By Anthony Castrovince / MLB.com 07/31/09 6:48 PM ET CLEVELAND -- Victor Martinez sat in front of his locker one last time in the Indians' clubhouse Friday afternoon, with his 4-year-old son, Victor Jose, in his lap. Martinez sobbed as he explained to his son that he had just been traded to the Red Sox. "My wife has been talking to him a little bit," Martinez told reporters soon after. "He woke up this morning, and the first thing he said was, 'Daddy, are we still an Indian?' "I told him, 'So far, yes,' and he started screaming, 'Yes! Yes!'" But around noon ET on Friday, talks between the Red Sox and Indians heated up. And around 3 p.m., an hour before baseball's non-waiver Trade Deadline, the swap sending Martinez to Boston for Major League right-hander Justin Masterson and prospects Nick Hagadone and Bryan Price was consummated. Cleveland Cavs Discussion
I actually just want Joe Smith. Joe knows his role and can play defense. Maybe we can get both?? Cavaliers not done shopping; team reportedly offers contract to Grizzlies' Hakim Warrick by Brian Windhorst, The Plain Dealer Thursday July 30, 2009, 11:27 PM The Cavaliers' major moves are done, but the finishing touches may not be. According to a league source, the Cavs have a contract offer out to a forward and are hoping to get an answer within the next few days. That forward is believed to be Hakim Warrick, a 6-9 athletic big man who has played the past four seasons with the Memphis Grizzlies. Cleveland: 2014 Gay Games IX News & Discussion
So the event is tonight...I'm very curious to see how attendence will be, especially since I haven't heard it advertized very much. Unless it's been through newsletter/email or something. I don't get back in town until next week, so I won't be able to stop by.

What stands out the most from this poll: - Income and College degree doesn't seem to effect opinion - Younger crowds likes it/wants it...older crowds not as much...(hmm, who is the future btw??...) - Northeast Ohio the most, Central Ohio the least (but they would be the "hub essentially??) - Women like it more then men! - Democrats always agree with Obama's stimulus money plan! j/k - What the hell is a Born Again Evangelical??
