  2. This is the first time estimate I've seen on a release. See the bold below. http://www.movieset.com/theirishman/news/3059f0/The-Irishman-Book-to-Movie-Interview-with-Author-and-Agent The Irishman, Book to Movie Interview with Author and Agent Published on: July 26, 2009 By Roberta M. Gubbins, Ingham County Lawyers write. They write briefs, opinion letters, memos, contracts of all sorts and sizes, wills, trusts—I could go on forever. Many write fictionalized stories based on events that happened during the course of their careers. Some of those stories are published and some are made into movies. How does that happen? Recently I met with Rick Porrello, author of “To Kill the Irishman, the War that Crippled the Mafia” and his agent, Peter Miller, of PMA Literary & Film Management, Inc. They were in Detroit to assist with the filming of the action movie based on Porrello’s book, the true story of mobster, Danny Greene, a violent Irish-American gangster who competed with the Italian mob in 1970’s Cleveland--a competition that provoked a country-wide turf war. Code Entertainment is producing the movie, which stars Ray Stevenson as Danny Greene, Christopher Walken as loan shark and nightclub owner, Shondor Birns, and Val Kilmer as the Cleveland police detective who befriends Greene. Jonathan Hensleigh directs the film. “They plan to release it by St. Patrick’s Day,” said Porrello.

  4. http://www.cleveland.com/goingout/index.ssf/2009/07/walking_tours_of_the_historic.html Walking tours of the Historic Gateway Neighborhood offer a peek back into Cleveland's glory days by Laura DeMarco/Plain Dealer Reporter Thursday July 30, 2009, 2:00 PM I was walking down Euclid Avenue with a ghost. Hundreds of ghosts, in fact. The ghosts of Cleveland past -- the people, the buildings, the places. I met them one recent Thursday evening on a Historic Gateway Neighborhood "Take a Hike" tour of Euclid and Prospect avenues from Public Square to East Ninth Street. One ghost in particular stood out, with his bowler hat, tails and oversize belly and guffaw. It was the spirit of legendary mayor Tom L. Johnson, who led Cleveland in its golden years of 1901-09, embodied by actor Mark Cipra. He met us in front of the newly restored 1904 Park Building on Public Square (now condominiums). 5. ^ Ok, makes more sense now. Thanks for shining some more light on this...I guess this being in "Demolition" thread instead of "CSU College Town" made me look at this in a different light. I won't stand in the way!
  6. Wait, what? Not sure what I think about this. Why tear up the urban fabric? 8. I dislike the title, but it does bring up a good point: Only In Cleveland by Dennis Manoloff, Plain Dealer Reporter Wednesday July 29, 2009, 3:44 PM CLEVELAND -- Wednesday produced yet another installment of OIC sports moments. Only In Cleveland. Only In Cleveland does the major-league baseball team trade reigning Cy Young Award winners in back-to-back seasons. Think about how hard that is to do. If you really need one, I'm sure we could help out. I'd just have to make sure to clear it with whoever's driving.

  14. damn....we need a new owner... Sparse Crowds Will Likely Mean Sparse Payroll for the Tribe Next Season Submitted by Eugmc on July 29, 2009 - 10:52am. The Cleveland Indians have the second lowest average home attendance in the American League. Next season, the team will likely reflect their poor performance at the gate (22,241 fans per game) with a drastically reduced payroll. The New York Post is reporting that the Indians will trim their payroll to a miserly $55 Million next season and try to dump both Victor Martinez and Cliff Lee at the trade deadline. Joel Sherman wrote yesterday: An AL exec said he was "1,000 percent" certain that Lee and and Victor Martinez would be traded for financial reasons. This executive described the Indians as devastated by their combination of bad play and a poor economy with the need to have about a $55 Million payroll in 2010. Cleveland has already committed $33M to three pretty much untradeable players (Travis Hafner, Kerry Wood, Jake Westbrook). So the fire sale will likely be worse than what you probably are already are expecting and the Indians will probably be nearly unwatchable till at least 2011. 19. The administration building is as ugly as hell anyways. I really wouldn't mind them tearing of it down and relocating to other office space--I'd actually prefer it. Again, this article seems more like "shock headlines" than anything.
  20. Cleveland seems to be getting the focus of the economy "bottoming out," especially with the housing market. This was the main picture in the New York Times article today, regarding the housing market. David Maxwell for The New York Times A new residential development in Cleveland, Ohio. The long slide in housing prices is continuing to brake, figures released Tuesday indicate. http://www.nytimes.com/2009/07/29/business/economy/29housing.html?pagewanted=1&_r=1 Cleveland seems to be always in the examples of cities who are recovering from the economy. It's neat to be given this positive perception/reality as of late.

New Cleveland Cavaliers forward Jamario Moon happy to play alongside LeBron James instead of against him Tuesday, July 28, 2009 Jodie Valade Plain Dealer Reporter Jamario Moon crossed his fingers and kept them that way all last week. Only when the Miami Heat declined to match the Cavaliers' two-year, $6 million offer sheet to the restricted free agent did the forward relax at the news he was headed to Cleveland to play alongside LeBron James.
