  3. Bell Tower Brewing Company breathes new life into historic Kent church Today 6:45 AM By Anne Nickoloff, cleveland.com KENT, Ohio -- More than 150 years after it was first built, the cathedral at 310 Park Avenue, near downtown Kent, will find new life as Bell Tower Brewing Company. Inside, high ceilings arch overhead, a fresh coat of bright paint emphasizing the natural light in the open area. A patio outside makes use of the front steps, for visitors to sit on with their freshly poured pints. Arched nooks house future booths for diners, and a second-floor room offers extra seating, overlooking the main space. https://www.cleveland.com/entertainment/2021/06/bell-tower-brewing-company-breathes-new-life-into-historic-kent-church.html
  4. You could also argue you are equal distance from Larchmere-Shaker Square, Cedar Fairmount, and University Circle...while sitting in the greenery of an urban park. http://www.northparkplace.live/

  6. Oh wait I’m half wrong....the Borgata Bar is at 12501/12503... Primo Vino was 12511. Incorrectly remembered the block as one connected building. You can see both buildings in this picture. (And personally haven’t heard anything about the WXZ proposal in years).
  7. Old Pool hall (and old Primo Vino too I if recall correctly) on E. 124th and Mayfield has new life as the Borgata Bar: https://www.facebook.com/Borgata-Bar-100758398183377/
  8. ^ Really fantastic article on many levels. Good thing they were able to go against our city's zoning mandates - especially in a place like Hough that lost most of its urbanity. Cleveland is helping the project in several ways. It has given zoning variances for smaller setbacks and fewer parking spaces than normally required, since Addis View is within walking distance of many workplaces and of the HealthLine.
  9. Little Italy has been creating its own micro apartments this whole time!! 🙂 I think you're spot on with the large family sizes back in the day compared to 1-2 college students per room. .
  10. Good catch. At least the final design looks a bit more refined and aesthetically-pleasing.
  11. New Cleveland apartment building on Hessler Road gets approval, despite street fair opposition CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - The city of Cleveland Landmarks Commission voted 7-2 to allow developers to go forward with a three-story, 12-unit apartment building on some open space behind a Ford Road property on Hessler Road. https://www.cleveland19.com/2021/05/27/new-cleveland-apartment-building-hessler-road-gets-approval-despite-street-fair-opposition/

  14. I think they’re a little bit off with the number Case Western Reserve students...which is actually 11,800 students! (largest private school in Ohio...and even bigger than University of Dayton). https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Case_Western_Reserve_University

  17. Annual Slovenian-American festival in the St. Clair-Superior neighborhood, first begun here in Cleveland in 2013. I believe we are the only US city to have this ancient Slovenian celebration of scaring away winter and welcoming springtime. I recently published a wiki page on it. Please let me know if there suggested edits of improvements: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cleveland_Kurentovanje A few notes: - Greater Cleveland has the most Slovene Americans in the United States - Cleveland has the Slovenian Consulate General in Downtown Cleveland - Slovenian city of Ptuj, where many Clevelanders have roots, is the epicenter for the Kurentovanje festival in Slovenia - Goldhorn Brewery, Noble Beast Brewer, and Collision Bend Brewery all make special seasonal beers for the celebration each spring using Slovenian hops - Laura DeMarco wrote a great article on it in 2020 https://www.cleveland.com/life-and-culture/j66j-2020/02/77380591285830/kurentovanje-2020-slovenian-mardi-gras-festival-to-scare-away-winter-with-parties-parade.html
  18. This is pleasant news. The garage could also eventually house a large video board that would be visible around Public Square and from his restaurant’s rooftop deck. Public Square could certainly have more color, video boards, and liveliness overall. Sherwin Williams, please feel free to add a similar COLORFUL moving video board as well! 🙂

^updated the Cleveland NavBox again. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Template:Cleveland 1) In the process of creating this new page for Cleveland Kurentovanje: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Cleveland_Kurentovanje What improvements/suggestions do you all have for me? 2) I also created a “Breweries” section to our “Culture” on the main Cleveland wiki page, which was completely missing in any form...which I feel is an increasingly part of our identity. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cleveland#Breweries Part of my complaints about how Cleveland is written about on wiki is that it leans waaaaay too much on our past.... and needs to continually updated to have more of a present tone.

  21. Nice little blog post: The Ultimate Self-Guided Tour of Cleveland Breweries (By a Local) BY CONTRIBUTOR | UPDATED ON: APRIL 29, 2021 Although I grew up just a few hours away from Cleveland (in Louisville, Kentucky) and have driven through the city many times – each of which made me say “holy crap, Cleveland is gorgeous! We really need to spend some time here,” – I still have yet to actually spend time in Cleveland. https://practicalwanderlust.com/cleveland-breweries/
