Buckeye Building (and relocating to Cleveland)
I don't know if this helps at all for a downtown neighborhood. I just did a quick search on price range on Cleveland.com: http://realestate.cleveland.com/?temp_type=browse&classification=real+estate&finder=afr&ad_type=residential-rentals-listing&fromSearchLevel=1&tl=1&tp=RE_cleve&property=cleveland.com&searchTab=quick&feature_includes_neighborhood=Downtown%2CGateway+District%2CThe+Flats%2CWarehouse+District%2COther+Cleveland+-+Downtown&adpricemin=200&adpricemax=800 EDIT: or maybe not...thought I'd at least give it a try.

Cleveland: Bob Stark Warehouse District Project
Some info on Dan Gilbert and then back to the topic... "Dan became majority owner of the Cavaliers in March, 2005. In the short period of time he has owned the team, he has led a complete overhaul of the basketball front office, coaching staff, player personnel, and game presentation. In addition, he has led the ownership group’s $30 million investment in renovations at the Quicken Loans Arena. These investments include over 20,000 new seats, state-of-the-art scoreboards, video systems, sound systems, new lighting technology, arena graphics, signage, security, player locker rooms, new partner entertainment facilities, as well as brand new administrative offices for the entire Cavalier and arena business teams. Dan has also led the investment and planning of a new $20-25 million player development center, named Cleveland Clinic Courts. The facility is currently under construction and is located in nearby Independence, Ohio. It will provide the Cavaliers with the highest quality and most advanced year-round practice and training center in the NBA. Most importantly, Dan has instilled a championship caliber culture throughout the entire Cavaliers organization. This unique anti-bureaucratic, common-sense, people empowering approach is the foundation for the rejuvenation of the franchise and arena. The fan base and corporate community have responded strongly with a high level of confidence in the direction of the team on and off the court. The Cavaliers currently rank near the top of the league in revenue per capita, making them one of the most successful business operations in the NBA. Quicken Loans recently opened a new Internet Home Lending Center in downtown Cleveland. Once fully operational, the nearly 50,000 square foot operation will house 350 new high-paying mortgage banking jobs which are expected to create more than $30 million in annual compensation for its Cleveland staff. Dan's companies employ more than 5,000 people. Quicken Loans Inc. has been ranked a Top 15 "Best Place to Work" in America by FORTUNE magazine for the past three years and ranked the #1 place to work for technology employees in the United States by Computerworld Magazine two years in a row in 2005 and 2006." -nba.com Also... "He then purchased the American Hockey League's Utah Grizzlies and brought them to Cleveland, and renamed them the Lake Erie Monsters." -wiki Now back on topic: Based on Eaton and Crocker, I'm also excited about the potential architecture. Stark does seem to care about both what it looks like and as well as making money.

Cleveland Locations: Have you been to all these?
The Old Stone Church is now offering free lunchtime music for the public again from 12-1 mon-tues-thurs. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Soaring chords at Old Stone Friday, May 04, 2007 Brian Albrecht Plain Dealer Reporter In the roar of buses and screeching gulls, the faint sound of a pipe organ drifts like the aroma of musical pizza through the lunchtime smorgasbord of noise on Public Square. The sound wafts through the open doors of Old Stone Church in notes that tumble and swirl in whirlpools of melody, and massive gut-stomping chords from the 3,000-plus pipes of a Cleveland-built Holtkamp organ. For the next 3½ months, Bill Shaffer, the church's music director, will sit at the base of those gold-hued, red-striped pipes that stand like a tight pack of giant pencils, and play whatever music matches the midday mood. Anything and everything that Shaffer can coax from 144 keys and 32 pedals will be featured, from Bach to Mariah Carey. When the In- dians are in town, he might take a swing at "Take Me Out to the Ball Game." And for Buckeye fans, "Hang on Sloopy." The free recitals started Monday and will be held from 12:15 to 12:45 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays in Old Stone's Open Door program, which invites people to visit for a little lunch-hour reflection, prayer or a spirited theme from "Star Wars." (May the pipes be with you.) One goal of the musical program, now in its second year, is to show that the church "is not just a museum, that we're becoming more involved in downtown Cleveland," said Shaffer, 31, of Seven Hills. "Call it the hidden gem trying not to stay hidden." The most common comment he hears from people who venture into the oldest structure on Public Square - the church was built in 1855 - is that they've lived in Cleveland for many years but never visited Old Stone's cavernous confines of soaring wood beams and Tiffany stained-glass windows. So he sends out a musical invitation in song selections that can vary according to who walks in. "If there's a crowd, I tend to do some of the more showy or festive pieces," he said. "If people are meditating, I'll keep it subdued so it adds to the mood, as opposed to jarring them out of their seats." He could. The jarring part. Set the organ for sfzorzando (suddenly loud), when the full power of the pipes are brought to bear, open throttle, and a little red warning light glows on the console. You can feel the rumble. After one air-thumping demonstration, a visitor from California asked the organist, "Does that give you a feeling of power?" Shaffer grinned. "Every once in a while, yeah," he said. The organ also can move you in other ways. Those too young to remember when pianos and organs provided the musical score for silent movies can experience much the same effect by sitting in the church's "sweet spot," Row 77 center, where the acoustics are best. Sit back, close your eyes and let the music conjure invisible moods of drama, suspense, horror, victory and beauty. It's the soundtrack of your imagination

Since the gathering is labeled as "historic preservationists," so this mean they are against changing the exterior (glass casing, new crown, atrium on top, etc.) or just knocking it down?

That is awesome news. This definitely can create new ideas/improvements since they'll be working there everyday. Great to see his plans for the heart of it all.

Does anyone know if the final overall project has any plans to better the connection to the rest of downtown? That lakefront rendering is very interesting.

Buckeye Building (and relocating to Cleveland)
Just curious, how did you find the buckeye building? I'm actually surprised e4 was 1st on your list since it is usally hard to find on the web. Personally, it's one of my favorite streets...even more so now with the 4 new places opening up in the next two months. When my brother moved downtown two months ago, it wasn't even on his list since they seem to be so low key. The entire neighorhood has been redone, so it'd be a gem location to get right now. For what you seem most interested in, you may also want to check W. 6, W. 9, and Ohio City as well. Either way, I'd definitely say take a good look at E. 4 before you decide, especially if those prices are still available.

Buckeye Building (and relocating to Cleveland)
Welcome Tbone, Since you're already considering it, I'm sure you've already seen this site, but here it is anyway. http://www.east4thstreet.com/properties.php . What I've heard from E4 residents is that you do get your own parking spot for something like $120 a month. Also, the laundry appears to be coin operated in that building. The location is great though, especially at that price. There's a lot going on, and it's in the heart of the city. I'm sure enough people will fill you in on Ohio City, Tremont, Warehouse District, etc. Where are you coming from?

Cleveland Area TOD Discussion
Hey, that's the exact location I had two cops almost arrest me for trespassing--seriously, don't walk on the tracks, it's like a $150 fine. In relevance to this topic, I think as long as the stop is moved closer to Mayfield Road (and stretch of the way) would be fine.

I think this quote is very interesting. I not really sure what I want....but it also gives the opportunity to go to the game and see the final win at home as well.
